ARs/AKs are that big of a deal for you? Or do you think he intends to come for all of them?

He doesn’t intend to come for all of them. I know that. I don’t actually care if they ban the sale of ARs/AKs going forward. It’s taking people’s property away that I have an issue with.

    Yeah.....no.

You're missing the huge swath of Texas hispanics, especially in S. Texas, who are gun owners, user, hunters, etc.  Don't forget rural black folks (often referred to as "country") who are similar.  And shit, my wife -- who is pretty damned liberal - just today was pushing back against the hardcore "anti-gun" narrative that is popping up in Austin after the horrific murder of the doctor this week.

Will those South TX Hispanics who voted for Trump in 2020 so up to vote when Trump isn’t on the ballot and small businesses weren’t decimated by COVID? I think turnout will certainly be lower in 2022.

As a gun-owner, I wish Beto had not discussed taking guns away from people. I think we can have great conversations about reasonable gun control measures (eg, universal background checks, res flag laws, etc). When you start talking about confiscating property from largely law abiding folks, that’s a problem.

I won’t be a one-issue voter but that could end up being the difference.

It makes me sick thinking about it but that fucking Darren Rovell tweets a new auction record it seems like everyday to remind me but I HAD 3 of these.

Sophomore in high school I would buy a pack of these twice a week or so.  Was more into baseball cards but these came out and since I was playing basketball thought it would be cool to have.  Probably ended up with 3 or 4 complete sets.  After he retired and I was a few years out of college with not much money to speak of I figured they were reaching peak value.  Sold all three for $500/piece.  Pretty good return for maybe a $50 investment .  They are now routinely going for $200k, $300k, $400k in auctions.  Of course those prices are for grades of 10 but I no doubt had at least 8's.  I had them in sleeves at least a year or two after purchase and then put into screw down cases once they started getting valuable.  Still got all the rest of the cards though 😂  if anyone wants an Hakeem,  Barkley or Bird.

I had one of the Jordan rookie cards and sold it for $500 in high school. I thought I made a fortune.

Also, I still occasionally look at the Jordan rookie sticker that I stuck to the shoe box that held my cards.

He took over a program that had won a total of 12 games in the 5 seasons before he was hired.

I agree he’s a better coach than Ty Willingham. He also inherited Jake Locker at a program that has generally been an upper-tier Pac 12 team. I just don’t see an upgrade in this hire. There’s nothing in his resume as a head coach that excites me about this hire.

  5. Warren is absolutely right about this. However, I think the bill should go farther than eliminating trading in individual stocks. It should require all federal elected officials and Congressionally approved appointments to either hold assets in a blind trust or alternatively have an approved list of extremely broad based investments (eg, total stock market funds, etc.).

The fact this doesn’t get traction reveals the current expectations of legislators to profit from insider trading.

We will spring for the extra money to fill each feeder with 200 lbs of protein with the de-wormer component in it to help the deer combat worms in their guts and maximize the nutrition yield.

When you  put out out the protein with the de-wormer, is it mixed with other protein feed in the feeder or is that the only feed in the feeder for that time?

Are you buying the de-wormer protein feed in bags or bulk?

I’ve been considering adding this to the protein regimen this year.

The University simply isn't committed to winning titles. We've been more interested in being profitable. Our facilities aren't the best. Our strength and conditioning isn't championship level. We establish rules such as only hiring coaches with head coaching experience which prevented us from considering Stoops for example,
When it comes to coaching searches, we generally do a terrible job. Post-Akers, we have hired:
    1. David McWilliams - we found the closest connection to DKR available. No search was actually conducted.
    2. John Mackovic - We went as far from DKR as possible. Not a championship level hire.
    3. Mack Brown - Obviously, a great hire. However, it's hard to give the administration any credit here as they had to be talked down from hiring Gary Barnett who would have been Mackovic Jr.
    4. Charlie Strong - The administration didn't want to take any chances on getting turned down and so hired someone who would definitely accept.
    5. Tom Herman - Boosters panicked because their chosen one was going to LSU. No search was conducted.
Go out and find the best coach. One who can recruit and cares about the process of getting better every day. One who doesn't look at the program as a chance to enrich his buddies and cares more about winning then just about anything else. One who understands you shouldn't talk about national championships until you can win conference championships.

While I agree no real search was conducted for many (possibly all) of those, we must admit if a search were done by outside consulting, Herman would have been at the top of the realistic list the year he was hired. (the Saban opportunity had passed) It looked the way it did because he was also at the top of LSU's list..they just moved a bit faster than we did.

I don't disagree with this on Herman. However, if we had executed a search, then some of his flaws may have become apparent, another candidate may have emerged (similar to Mack vs Barnett), etc.

The guy at the top of the list has said no. The other obvious choices aren't leaving their current positions.

Who else jumps out at you, and more importantly, who else jumps out at the boosters who will be paying for Tom Herman's buy out?

It's not my job to figure out who should be the next coach at Texas. That's why the University pays CDC. It's the biggest decision he will have in his tenure here.

What do you guess his age? From the before pic I would guess 3-4 years at most. That face looks young and from the one angle he doesn’t appear to have much of a brisket.

I’m guessing between 5 and 7. When he’s looking straight at you, he has a massive neck going back to September. Also, I have pics of him from late in the Summer with a beer gut and a little sway to his back. This is our second season on this ranch and I’m trying to improve my aging skills.
