  1. Biden’s campaign needs to have 2 ads ready for the swing states once Trump has the nomination. The first ad is a reminder of Trump’s 4 years which includes:

    1. Charlottesville/Good people on both sides quote

    2. George Floyd/Trump’s quote to police to bang criminals heads on cars

    3. Muslim Ban/Shithole Countries quote

4.Number of Covid deaths/inject bleach quote

    5. January 6/Trump’s record in election lawsuits

Second ad focuses on Biden’s accomplishments:

    1. Jobs created

    2. S&P performance

    3. Record Oil and Gas production

I think that poll is bullshit; however, we need to acknowledge that this election will be decided at the margins in those 6 swing states and some voters need a reminder that Trump’s a fucking crazy dumbass man child.

I get all that but this has held up promotions for months.   At some point, you move on.

I think it’s floor time related. The Senate rules require X amount of time for debate on each matter voted on individually. Accordingly, it ties up the floor and means all other business stops.

I see some skepticism about this buck being expressed on the Texas Buck Registry FB page, too.

    https://www.facebook.com/TexasBuckRegistry/

Update:  Interesting that this FB page has now edited out some earlier comments about potential escapees from some breeding farms in that area.

I follow that page on Instagram and the number of 170” plus low-fence bucks listed this year is somewhat shocking. I know it’s possible but the numbers don’t seem to make sense especially given the drought this summer.

Last year on TBR someone posted a 220 inch typical as a low-fence buck until someone mentioned that would be the new world record. Ultimately the hunter admitted it was a high-fence deer.

I don’t really care about the difference between high and low fence. My ranch is high-fenced. I just wish folks would be honest.

He means instead of issuing 1-2 year treasuries in 2020-2021 to fund the deficit they should have been 10-30 year treasuries. Those 1-2yr treasuries that paid .2% interest are being redeemed and replaced with bonds that pay 5% greatly increasing our interest payments. I had the same thought at the time and wondered if there would have been a market for a 50 or 100 year bond.

This was discussed under Mnuchin as well but the concern has always been is there enough demand for those long-dated bonds. If the demand was there, they definitely should have loaded up on the long end of the curve.

Yeah, so, any top CFs available out there? Serious question.

Also, maybe an unpopular opinion, but it seems to me like we could do a lot worse than keeping Maldy around as a backup/mentor assuming he'd be up for it. Yainer's the man, but he  can't catch every day.

Are the pitchers up for it? That’s why I don’t think you can bring Maldy back even as a backup. That has the potential of creating significant clubhouse tension on Day 1. They need to rip the band-aid off and lose his agents number. There should be plenty of backup catchers available who can catch 30 games next year.

Also I will be shocked if any team gives Maldy a major league contract this season.

the rangers saw no pain throwing the same guys at us. I'm not following closely but sure looks like the dbacks and phillies kept using their high leverage guys over and over

The same penalty doesn’t apply when they get to face Dubon, Peña and Maldonado multiple times.

  7. Have they been offered anything?

I haven’t heard any of the moderate Rs actually make an offer to get some help from the Ds to elect a speaker.

This is all McCarthy’s fault. He is an extremely weak individual who has been enabling the zealots in the far R ever since he got to Washington. He had an opportunity to effectively neuter them at the beginning of this Congress by agreeing to some sort of coalition/power-sharing arrangement.

There are at least 5 members of the R caucus who will vote against anything reasonable/rational which meant he would always need D votes to pass any government funding bills or debt ceiling bills.

There is no reason for the Ds to help them at this point. At some point the damage will be enough that either the Rs get to 217 on their own or a speaker will be chosen with D votes/abstentions which means the Ds need to get something for that.

I wonder what trade value Peña has.  We'd then need to find a stopgap until Matthews is ready.

Our bench also needs to get better.  I don't know if that's spending more or just doing a better job on waiver picks or what.

No more dumpster diving in the waiver wire. Let’s sign some actual major leaguers this off-season.

Peña’s OK if he’s your 9th best hitter.

  9. The following starters are on the roster now:

Verlander, Framber, Javier, Brown, France, McCullers, Bielak, Urquidy, Garcia and Blanco

Any thoughts on seeing what France could be traded for? Personally, I think what he provided this year was fool’s gold.

Can Framber and Javier revert to form? If they don’t, then I think this run is over unless some combination of McCullers/Garcia/Brown really step up.

We need to find an actual major leaguer who can back up 1B and 3B and pinch hit. That way we can give some days off to Bregman and Abreu.
