  1. Congrats on the new ride! Highly recommend that you get the bike fitted by a professional bike fitter. Unlike on a mtb, you’ll be in pretty much the same position the duration of your ride. Got an old bike fitted at the start of the pandemic and made a huge difference in comfort and handling.

Yeah, Traylor is a tier 2 hire that should probably prove himself at a P5 program like Arkansas or Baylor. A hire that will cost aggy close to $100 million.

If you're spending that type of money you better be hiring one of those big names like Lanning, DeBoer, Kiffin, Norvell, etc.

Dude, we’re taking about aggy. Do you expect them to not fuck this up?

A&M is a good job, even with all of their weird shit that they do. It will never be a great job until there is a wholesale purging of the top leadership in the university because their buffoonery will continue to shoot the football program in the foot. They are constantly trying to shortcut and brute force their way to success, and that is not how quality programs are built.

All that and they celebrate the wrong success and then get way ahead of themselves. Top recruiting class…WHOOP! Swgacopter, WRTS, Don’t Care Got Jimbo. All these bullshit fake wins, which they assume are a guaranteed ticket to the promised land, but they’re still waiting at the station with their dick in their hands.

Further clarifying to mean that the next coach won't be a sitting National Championship level coach (or even Lance Leipold) - it will probably be someone like Jeff Traylor.

Assuming their funds are finite and Jimbo is fired, how do they allocate the remaining football funds (donor and institutional monies)? A high dollar coach, leaving less for NIL; or a lower cost up and comer, leaving more for NIL.

Donor fatigue is a real thing when they’re paying $60+million for someone not to coach and the new hire isn’t exciting and motivating their fan base to fund a competitive NIL program.  Think that’s why they’re wishcasting an alum like Dan Campbell (?) or someone who ‘gets atm’ who’ll keep the donors happy and the money flowing.

I noticed in Sark's presser (maybe this was discussed on the football board), that he went out of his way to praise Savion Red and his work on the scout team the past week while he played the role of Jalen Milroe.

It reminded of your mention during spring practice about how the coaching staff loves to make public statements that are in actuality a message sent to players or the team as a whole. This smelled like that to me, and it proves how savvy Sark is in the psychological part of coaching and motivating players.

Contrast this with Jimbo referring to players by their jersey number during Saturday’s post game presser.

  6. Watched jimbos post game presser and a reporter mentioned Miami had 140-something yards after the catch.

Jimbo responded with the usual coach speak…tackling better, leverage points, cover better, wrapping up. All the same shit we heard when Texas had the same problem. Looking back, there was never an easy in season fix, and the issues were more talent, scheme, coaching and culture, all things that required multiple seasons and coaching changes to address.  Fucking glorious to see Aggie having the same issues.

  7. Really pulling for you, Mac. At the risk of showing my ignorance or pointing out an obvious thing you’ve already done, are there recruiters you can reach out to who can asses to what areas your skill set will translate and push you for jobs in those areas?

Also, do you know if the greater Houston partnership has any job search functions or events/mixers? I know some folks who used to work there and can reach out to them if you’re interested.

  8. In the very good but not great chorus.  I read Strauss's wiki this morning after seeing the movie last night and think the movie would have been better served by exploring him more.  There were references to his past (son of a lowly shoe salesman) but there was a richness and depth to the character that the movie ignored: He didn't go to college; was set to graduate at the top of his high school class, which would have gotten him a free ride, but he got sick and didn't graduate with his class; after he graduated he worked for a few years to save money for college then moved to Europe to serve in the rebuilding after WWI, while there he was offered a job at an investment bank where he made a shit ton of money; he was an active jew and may have resented that Oppenheimer was not a practicing jew; and he was strongly against the sharing of any nuclear technology with our allies.

For you old guys, what do y'all recommend most for the younger folks on here? Things to do, things not to do, etc.

I've watched both parents get older... and it doesn't seem to be fun. Weight seems to be an issue affecting lifestyle, as well as simply staying in motion. Lots of bad joints, which limits mobility, which increases weight, which limits mobility in a vicious cycle.

I read this book about a year ago:

    image.jpeg.ac9f0733d4dce5442800545183b08382.jpeg

It's geared toward people in their 60s, but I thought it had a lot of great stuff to consider for people of any age. Watching parents get older has really put me on a kick where I'm thinking about aging quite a bit.

    How old are you?

Mensa’s recruiting classes were abortions on a historic level, back to back #3 classes that  produce a single 1-3 round draft pick in Overshown in the late 3rd. Media narratives matter and Texas was able to out recruit A&M for the first few years of Jimbo, but more importantly when it comes to A&M shitting the bed Jimbo’s stupid fucking contract is what ends up stealing the lime light. Everyone focuses on the 90 million dollars for 5-7 narrative, the 2022 class has been put center stage but even that’s morphed into a do or die total program meltdown situation. A&M had double and tripled down so many times that while people look at Texas and see a terrible gambler, they look at A&M and say “If this dude loses this hand, he’s going home and pouring gasoline in his kitchen and suck starting a shotgun”. In an incredibly aggy way they have managed to dodge some serious criticism by making the situation so much worse that everyone is holding their breath to see what happens.

And also, no one really gives a fuck about a&m. They’ll raise their profile every few years (johnnys heisman, poaching jimbo, the 2022 recruiting class) but they’re just as often laughed at (5-7, jimbos contract, kyler and kyle transferring in the same off season). Ultimately, they only matter to the extent they provide fodder for the national cfb media.
