It's interesting that in the OTF graphic of remaining targets, the only two targets wearing Texas uniforms are Brew and Rogers.

Hey guys. I have a lot going on. So let me start-
My wife just told me she's having an affair with a guy she works with (who's a member of a cult) like you tell someone you need to mow the grass. Just casually. Then she started the divorce yesterday. She is my soul mate, and I'm fucking hurting from a couple of other things. My depression has been going on since my dad passed away 4 years ago on Aug 5th.
My best friend zoom called me to let me know he came back positive for HIV, which he got from his gf who cheated on him. I'm broken.
I find out not too long back my female cousin has something called Huntington's, which apparently has no cure.
I just lost 2 of my best friends/fur babies in back to back years.
I feel alone. I don't show emotion other than hunor, which is how I cope. The pain I'm experiencing is beyond measure, and I already suffer from OCD, and severe depression. I have so much shit on my plate and I've been having thoughts of just ending it all. I literally cannot take anymore of life. I miss my fur babies so much. We went everywhere together and I had them for 15 and 16 years. They got me through my dad's death. My mother is a narcissist who wouldn't even let me or my sisters say goodbye. He and my fur babies were the greatest things in my life, far beyond material success.
Guys, I'm beyond broken. I don't know what to do. I already see a psychiatrist. I hate that I have no one to vent to. This is the most I have ever shown emotionally in my entire life except when I lost the aforementioned to my soon to be ex-wife. I don't know how to accept that they're gone. I can't just pack up their stuff and put it away. I hurt every single day of my life. I an man enough to admit I go to our guest bedroom to cry.
I'm sorry for laying this out to y'all, but a fellow member directed me here.
That's a hell of a lot to go through. Lot's of good advice. Not sure if you do, but keeping a clean house is key. You get a sense of accomplishment and, for me, being in a clean environment is much more relaxing than a messy one. Also, house work is a low grade mediation for me.

Does Velton Gardner play with a chip on his shoulder? Does he get the defense riled up during practice? Can we pencil him in as our short yardage and goal line back, having scored a grand total of one touchdown in his career? Is he the vibe?

This episode was nothing more than HBO and the show runners telling us to be sure to drink our Ovaltine.

I’ve wondered the same thing. Asked the wife the same question when they headed to the front. “Why aren’t they taking a tunnel?”
Because then she wouldn't have gotten a face full of fish.

I tend to agree with the take of there being a slew of unrealistic offers in play. NIL things that aren't going to be getting funded over the fall. Between that and various under-performances, there will be flips a-plenty.
Of course, there is also the expectation of high performance by the Horns.
Hook'em
I wonder if that's where Sark's confidence and coming from.

The dragon in the Vale is Sheepstealer. A skinny, mud brown dragon. In the book, she’s ridden by one of the dragonseeds known as Nettles. Wiki says they merged Nettles into Rhaena’s story. It’s the logical move for a film adaptation.
Is Addam of Hull dying his hair? He has dreads, but they should be blonde. He’s obviously Seasmoke’s rider in scenes from next week. I’ll buy that Laenor is he and Alyn’s father. It’s the only way Addam would have the Targ blood needed to be a dragon rider. Marilda of Hull must have been an exceptionally charming woman.
Why do you bring book shit to this thread? If you're going to hide it, take the extra step and say it's from the book on top of the spoiler.
Or just keep book shit to the book thread.

Hi everybody! I’m 47 and blew out part of my knee running high mileage. Surgery was in early May. I’d like to just go right back to running when I’m cleared in a couple of weeks but I’ve been highly urged to take up biking as well to reduce impact on my knees. I know very little about road biking.
I’m getting a used Roubaix this weekend and got some basic kit (helmet, jersey, strobe, etc.) from Trek. I plan to jump in and start with a 15-mile ride. I’d like to do a 35 mile ride with the Trek group at the end of August and a 60-miler with my brother and friends in October. No idea how feasible that it but going to try.
Any advice or words of wisdom for an older biking newb?
Edit- I did get sized and a 56 or 58 should work for me. I’m 6’ 170 lbs. with a longer torso. The Roubaix is 56 cm.Those are solid goals and should be doable.
My standard advice for anyone getting into cycling, is to get a good fit. You'll be in the same position for 3-4 hours on a 60 mile ride and want your body to be efficient and comfortable. Also, get a really good saddle.
I think there's three parts of bike fitness: 1)cardio 2)legs and 3)the ability to be on a bike for a real long time (this is where a good fit comes in). The first two should be pretty easy for you, since you have an athletic background. For the third, spend a bunch of time on the bike; there's a ton of value in chill rides that get your body used to being on the bike.
Lastly, don't be stingy with chamois cream.

I'm a regular in the MTB thread, but haven't posted here because I haven't owned a road bike in 20+ years. However, with all the rain this spring I ended up riding my MTB on a lot of pavement while the dirt trails were closed, and realized I enjoyed it. I got into a conversation with a neighbor that led to me being gifted a 2009 Felt Z80. I'm excited, but feel like a newbie in terms of this type of bike and geometry.
I know this bike is 15 years old, but the reviews when it was new are good, and I feel like it'll be a good gateway drug to see if I can adjust. It's a 61cm; I'm 6'0" 200lb so that seems a little on the large size for me, but it felt like a decent fit when I rode it a few houses down and back - and given that it was free, I'd like to give it a shot.
Aside from getting the obvious checked out at my LBS (tires, brakes and gears), anything else I need to watch out for or consider for an upgrade?
Here are the specs: https://99spokes.com/bikes/felt/2009/z80
Congrats!
Aside from what you’ve listed, I wouldn’t spend a dime upgrading a 15 year old bike that was too big. If you wanted to spend the money you could get it professionally fitted, which may lead to you buying a new stem.

Help! I’m a fatass and want to stop being one.
The Covid weight gain never has stopped. I’ve been lazy and drinking too much. I can fix the food part of the recipe pretty well but I need a workout regiment to help me lose ~30 pounds in a year or so and rebuild actual muscle.
For years I subscribed to Peleton for floor exercise and strength programs but fell off since there is not an inherent calendar. I need definitive structure or I’ll stop, it’s my OCDness. Like a decade ago I did a Beachbody thing that actually worked well, even though it was corny as shit
Any suggestions on good home-based workout groups/campagins/etc (simple 15-20 lb dumbbell kinda stuff mixed with lower body work) that also do HIIT or at least something I can tie a 45 min elliptical workout into? It can repeat every few weeks, I don’t care.
Ideally a 6 day a week deal, alternative strength and cardio days.Onnit has some really good home workout HIIT programs. Each program uses a different type of weight (kettlebell, mace, club and body weight) and each workout works your full body. They’re about an hour start to finish with 20 minutes warmup, 20 minute workout and 20 minute cool down. Can’t recommend them enough.

Thinking about building a light weight fully rigid 26" mtb for fitness rides, heading to the beach, or grabbing a coffee.
I know this isn't cost effective but I'm looking for a character vintagey cool ride
These are the goals:
- Bullet proof / simple
- Great ride/feel
- light weight
- a bit stealth (much better ride than how it looks)
These are my choice of frames (I have both bikes hanging in the garage not pictured below):
klein Pulse (Trek) but made in the USA... I love this frame and have ridden one a fair bit before.
PROS:
- Fast
- Efficient
- Light
- Cheap (Trek Kleins aren't collectable like the originals)
CONS:
- Chain suck
- Klein dropouts
- Even debadged it's not stealthy (chainstays and seatstays give it away)
- Frame transmits every bump or pebble straight to your ass RIP TINKER
- Rear hub axle broken
- Very aggressive geometry
Giant XTC SE1 Made in Tiawan... Never rode this exact frame, but it looks well built (overbuilt)
PROS:
- Frame looks a little funky and already has cool patina
- Debadged it'd be unrecognizable
- Funky rear braded hydraulic line (if it can be salvaged)
- More laid back frame geometry
CONS:
- Requires disk brakes (for this I prefer simple linear brakes, less noise, cleaner cable route)
- It's already a franken bike and I'm not sure how much can be saved
- Don't know the bike, it might suck
What say you Surly?
Random thoughts:
Any 26” bike is going to be stealth enough in that everyone will know it’s old as shit….and no one will be able to pick out a 20+ year old Klein based only on the chainstays and seatstays.
I don’t think Kleins have cachet among bike thieves. Not sure why you think disc brakes are a con. Mine have never been louder than rim brakes. Plus you don’t have to worry about an out of true wheel fucking up your brakes.
If it were me I’d rock the Klein. I’m sure you could make the handling a bit more stable with a different fork.

Gotcha, working while reading doesn't always go so well - The biggest issue with Mack and the OL was numbers. He had numerous classes with maybe 3 guys and a lot of times those guys were iffy. Bringing in 6 high quality guys in a single class pretty much guarantees success.
I remember the signing day press conference when Mack said he wished he had signed more OL. Well shit, mofo, why the fuck didn’t you?

Any restriction on NIL or implementing a salary cap is likely to benefit schools that have played the bag game in the past. Fuck that shit.
Keep it as is. Free market, everything in the open and above board. And that benefits Texas.

Anything short of renaming the team the Oilers and going back to the old uniforms was going to be a disappointment.

Looks good. I’d lower the runners on either side of the tv a few inches and center the cabinet.

I was WAY too young when I watched that movie.

I saw A Clockwork Orange and Tommy (the rock opera by The Who) when I was 9. My dad rented them for my older brother but didn't care that I watched them, too. ACO was too weird to make much sense to me. But the scene in Tommy where the boyfriend kills the presumed KIA father when he comes back from the war really fucked with my head for a few years, considering that my parents had separated the year before.
