I'll see your Craig Loston and raise you Ryan Perrilloux. That one, given what was going on at QB at the time, and how it happened will always piss me off the most.

We didn’t know it at the time, but that was the best thing that could have happened to us. Guy turned out to be a bust, whose playing career and recruiting dipshittery were one and the same. Meanwhile, our back up plan in that class turned out to be another generational QB.

i did not keep up with this thread since new years and since search sucks i can't confirm if this has been posted......

talkiebird is done on 30 june

here is the batallion recap of his time in charge which i'm sure ignores all of his greatest hits:

    https://thebatt.com/news/theres-only-one-john-sharp-after-14-years-the-texas-am-systems-longest-serving-chancellor-nears-retirement/

his replacement is aggy '93 and here is his opening statement after confirmation 2 months ago:

    https://news.tamus.edu/glenn-hegar-named-chancellor-of-the-texas-am-university-system/

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar ’93 was confirmed Friday as the next chancellor of The Texas A&M University System by a unanimous vote of the Board of Regents.

“I am grateful and honored that the Board of Regents have entrusted me with the responsibility of leading one of the greatest university systems in the nation,” Hegar said. “Our Core Values unite us and set the Texas A&M System apart from the others, and I remain steadfastly committed to upholding and preserving those values.”

    +++

he was the only finalist for the job - and that makes sense as the highest-ranking aggy in the lege who knows better than anyone else how to steal our money

but to repeat the best news, he is committed to keeping aggy aggy

@closetojumping what's the word on this guy?

My first thought is they hope he’s their Eltife: Alum and well respected former legislator. And both are low key as far as politicians go.

He’s not going to burn as hot as Sharp and will be more likely to hire good people and get out of their way.  And I don’t think Hegar will sacrifice everything at the altar of athletics, which may be his undoing.

If you pay even a modicum of attention to woman’s basketball you would have to try really hard to not know who Phee is for a myriad of reasons. But some of your are Clark fans, not fans of women’s basketball, not that there is anything wrong with that, except you should stop trying to masquerade as the latter.

  4. I read it last summer and didn’t use any support materials or read the footnotes; liked it but I’m sure I only caught about half of it. I’ve also read ASFT… and thought it was great.

I’m now reading Oblivion, a short story collection. The multi-page paragraphs are a beating, but that’s kinda the point.

I've found it so interesting how they've sort of lurked at gold record status for a couple of decades now, with absolutely impeccable critical reception, yet they often seem to be touring as support for far lesser bands, playing the dinner slot at festivals, etc.  They're definitely not hurting for money, but man they should be so much bigger

Take it back 10 years, and I’d put their body of work up against any other American band over the past 30 years.

I wonder if they would have been able to maintain such a consistently creative output if they had broken through. The ‘critically acclaimed but under appreciated’ niche has been really good to them.

It’s both but the problem is my appetite has taken off and I’m eating more than I should and I can’t eat less I’m fucking ravenous. I’m hoping it settles in and evens out that’s what I’m being told to expect.  I’m going to time some protein snacks before and after workouts to see if that will quiet my appetite. Worked today, had an intense HIIT workout and ate some protein after and I’m still satiated 4 hours later.

Why don’t you eat some carbs that your muscles can use as fuel before you workout and save the protein for after the workout?

The Athletic is reporting that the Mavericks expect to lose 9 figures in revenue as a result of the Luka trade. Jesus.

Give me your best conspiracy theories. My favorite is the Adelsons are tanking the franchise so they can move to Las Vegas.

If we’re talking conspiracy theories, mine is that the trade was a requirement of the NBA approving the sale of the Mavs to the Adelsons. (I don’t really believe this)

  8. Not sure about the IRS, but she can report him to the Texas Workforce Commission. The only thing they may/can do is assess him the UI taxes he hasn’t paid and maybe interest; I don’t think there are any fines.

She owes income taxes regardless. He just fucked her over by not letting her know he wasn’t withholding.

This page has some good info from the irs https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/worker-classification-101-employee-or-independent-contractor

I’d take a look at the specialized or the red line. The Specialized has flat bars and you may like those more than drop bars, especially if you’re just looking to tool around.  The redline is a cross bike so you’ll be able to get a little bit rowdy on it if you want. Both will be able to fit wider tires than the first bike you posted, which is a good thing.

I got some new amino’s changed up some other supplements and recovery has been improving, biggest issue was legs. I was never too sore on upper body.  Yesterday I was feeling good before the gym, got all hopped up on a pre workout drink and did back, biceps and shoulders. In my mind I’m like do more reps, add more weight, upper body never gets too sore.  It’s going to hurt like a sob tomorrow on day two and it’s going to be hard to move.  Dumb shit people over 40 do in the gym..

Muscles get stronger faster than ligaments. And since you’re new(ish) to working out, your muscles are building strength that your tendons and ligaments may not be ready for, which could increase the risk of injury.

It wouldn’t be a bad idea to add some variety to your workouts. Isometrics and static holds, work your muscles in a different way and build your ligaments and tendons. Bodyweight exercises and  calisthenics develop balance, body control and overall proprioception (awareness of your body in space) This will keep you in the gym while letting the rest of your body adapt and catch up to the gains your muscles are making.

As middle aged men there’s a lot more facets to strength than lifting weights in the gym. Building balance, body control and proprioception allows our bodies to incorporate our strength and muscular gains into a literal armor that will protect us as we age.

Good luck and keep on keeping on!

….and I need to start figuring out some kind of easy strength building/core routine that works for me.

The best way to figure out what works for you is to start working out and seeing what you like and works for you. Good luck!

Remember that there are schools desperately trying to push large NIL numbers early in the cycle. They’re trying to fuck up/muddy things for everyone or they’re trying to lock guys in and prevent future visits to other schools.

Meanwhile, Texas is not having NIL conversations for the most part. That comes later.

In other words, ATM, LSU, and USC are operating in fantasyland.

Are they effectively tying up their resources while setting the NIL floor for other programs to beat/match?

Yeah college basketball coaches are kind of dicks in general.

Nothing I heard made me think RT crossed any lines. Players apparently thought he was weird and a little too intense and didn't like him very much but nothing would lead me to believe he shouldn't coach again. He was coaching for his job basically the whole season. Guessing stuff like that makes it less fun to play for the guy 🤷

I imagine players are ok with being coached hard if they’re winning; if they’re not winning the coach is just an asshole.
