Twitter now referring to the rest of Big 12 as the Irate 8.

Lots of talk about how SEC is playing chess and B1G and PAC 12 playing or eating checkers.

I have no trouble believing that based on their statements and actions.

A connected tOSU guy said on a podcast that the group running point for Texas and OU reached out to the B1G around the same time as they did the SEC (which would make sense as you'd want to hopefully create competition for your affiliation).  Said the B1G was eager for Texas but had no interest in OU, and when it became clear it was a package deal the talks ended before even starting.

So, B1G has known this was afoot for six months.  If they haven't schemed and prepared shame on them.   No one seems to have much faith in Delanay's replacement

Not in the final, that is for qualification. In the finals you pick three for each event.

Ah, got it.  In that scenario if she wasn't trusting herself at all I can see her thought process.

Hope she comes back and kills in the individual.

She stepped away specifically to ensure the US medalled because she thought she wasn't up for it. There's only three scoring athletes, and the three best US gymnasts not named Biles were the ones who competed.

    Nobody "lost " a spot.

Just to be clear, it's not all four compete and the lowest score is thrown out?

I think you missed the point of my comment.

But keep calling people cunt here for no reason. I bet it works out great.

s for Patsy's being content, he could have been, but watch him during the wedding meet and greet with Tony and Carm.  Something is off with him and he gives Tony a look over the drink that seems to say, "You're time is short, cocksucka."

I took that as more a look of "fuck, the boss is annoyed he's having to serve me".  Tony looked pissed when Carm nudged him to refill Patsy's drink

That said, I think I'd fall in line with Patsy being involved for reasons stated.  Also, he and his brother were originally in Junior's crew.  He was always viewed suspiciously by Tony and he knew it

Eh. Kind of typical for these people. There's some quote about having all the life experiences you need to write by that age or early 20s or something. Alanis wrote all of Jagged Little Pill at 21. Jackson Browne wrote These Days when he was like 17.

Cripes.  Just listened to this song after many years, and you're comparing it to Jagged Little Pill?!  Fuck you cunt

I always tip well at restaurants, but i never do at hotels. Servers don't make minimum wage and supplement with tips, but as far as I know hotel workers do.

Hotel housekeepers do far more to earn tips than restaurant wait staff in my opinion.  Cleaning all those rooms is hard, nasty work.  Bringing me a refill of diet coke, not so much

Opening song from Knebworth.  Jagger must have been shook.

One of the comments nails Van Zant: "No one could look cooler by just stalking around ,holding a mic and owning the stage."

Dude was just a badass.  Short and stocky, and sang in his bare feet.  No lifter shoes needed for my man.

In college it may have been my favorite song.  The first few cords just blow the doors off.

And if you’ve seen theSkynyrd doc, Gary talks about how they wrote that song.  Because he crashed a car into a tree completely wasted on coke and booze.

"Oak tree, you're in my way"

Simple Man may be the best simple song ever.  Just basic and pure.  And great.

Amazing that Van Zant wrote those lyrics at 24 or 25 years old.

  11. I'll spare the details but wife knows I don't want a fuss on Father's Day.  What was supposed to be a laid back early dinner of carryout crab bucket for the two of us, our two kids and her best friend has turned into a pain in the ass, formal, expensive event with enough food for a dozen adults.

What's interesting to me now vs the previous times is Tony's relationship with his family.  Now that I'm older I can identify with that angle a lot better.  He may love his family but they're all a total beating for different reasons.  Also forgot how funny the show was.

That's a great point.  I was single when the show aired and hated the family scenes.  Having rewatched after having a family those scenes are much more relatable.  I've got a 14 year old son who used to love to roughhouse with me.  Recently he's changed and just whines "stop" if I try to roughhouse him a little.  There's a scene with AJ doing that exact same thing when Tony tries to play.

  13. He did an episode in PI that partially focused on Filipina mothers who leave their families to work abroad and support them, not getting the see them for years.  My wife is Filipina and her mother did the same thing...years working in Saudi Arabia then US.  In a closing bit Tony sensitively and respectfully captured the essence of that whole thing the gentle loving Filipino nature in a few minutes of narration that makes me tear up every time I see it.  He truly had a gift and I hate that he left.

Ugh, due to the success of this show, the copycats are already starting. STARZ has a version coming out soon, but as you know, their budget is shit, so it’s Mare of Winningham.

Sanford and Son is still got a good edge to it.

I still remember an episode where Lamont wanted to invite a kid to stay for fried chicken dinner.  Fred wanted nothing to do with it because they only had "four necks and three backs" to split amongst them.

Agreed that Oscars was horribad.  The worst part for me was seeing Harrison Ford.  I know he is old but man he looked really old.  I have thought he looked old for the last decade but something about his face tonight made him look like a really old man.  Even sadder was his voice.  It sounded like it was fading.  No idea how he can play Indiana Jones again.

    His nose is growing

This is also close to what I am using as a barometer of acting ability.  Stallone can be good in very, very simple roles with limited dialogue and limited range.  So when he is in those roles he does well.  But watch him in roles where he actually tries to act and he sucks.  Really sucks.  he is a bona fide movie star for certain but not a great actor by any stretch.

Agree Stallone is not a good actor, but he was just about perfect in Rocky.

I tried to watch the original Amityville Horror a few months ago which scared the hell out of me when I was a kid- found out that it was a really shitty movie. My wife who, who scares easily from horror movies, was rolling her eyes at the "scary parts".

Saw that at the theater when it came out, was about 14.  Scared the shit out of me, too.  After movie we stopped by my friend's house cause he had to grab something or other.  He had one of those side entrances where you could go down to the basement or up to the kitchen.  Jerk sent me down to the basement to wait while he went upstairs to do his thing.  Didn't turn the light on.  There was a little light coming in through the basement windows, but it was terrifying right after seeing that movie.
