No picture, sadly.  But I'll describe it as best as I can.

At Yellowstone earlier this month.   If you are familiar, many of the attractions are off one of the highways; sometimes a small two lane road with no shoulders winds it way through some trees to a smallish parking lot.  The attraction I'm speaking of is the Artist Paintpots:

e get to the exit, and traffic is backed up.  We are off the highway, but not moving.  Occasionally we move up 20 feet or so, then stop.  Minutes pass.  Few in front of us decide to do a U turn and leave.  Oddly, very few cars are leaving the attraction.  As we get closer, my wife notices some flashing lights through the trees, like you would see on a police car.

We move up some more, turn the last corner....and see what the issue is.  There was a minivan parked in one lane of the two lane road entering the parking lot.  Naturally, I gave some benefit of doubt (mechanical issue, something).  The lights were from two ranger vehicles.

Eventually, we made our way into the lot, but circled it a few times.  There were two rangers standing by the minivan, waiting.  Eventually, we see a family of 5 making their way towards the end of the lot and my wife speculates its the minivan family.  Sure enough, it was.

I wish I had taken photos of the encounter, or just stood close by and listened in.  These rangers were pissed, and gave the man a citation.  There was an argument, but he wasn't even close to parking in a lot, or even onto a shoulder (of which there were cars that had done so along the parking lot, but there was no shoulder where he just shut off his damned minivan).  The parking lot was full, so he literally just decided to say fuck it, slam it in park and go spend half an hour or longer looking at an attraction.  No fucks given by him, but he got a ticket out of the deal.

We were driving into Grand Canyon park via east entrance on hwy 64 this summer when traffic came to a standstill.  Working our way up a bit we see several cars parked along the side of the road and one numbnut who had just shut off his van right in the middle of the road.  Attraction was a couple of huge bull mooses eating trees right next to the highway.  They were majorly impressive creatures to see up close like that.  Numbnut in van had hopped out of his car with his small child and was standing maybe 15 feet away from them.  The idiocy is mindboggling.

Ryan Day already needs another shave. I can go four days without a shave. He needs them twice a day.

Seriously, everything you've posted, and especially anecdotes about yourself, says you are a pathetic excuse for a man

  3. Kid takes the trash can to the curb last night for Friday morning pickup.  I notice the lid on the can outside is not closing (i.e. it's completely full).  I ask my wife because we normally don't fill up that can like that.  She says she threw away two large fans in there.

Fast forward to this morning and the lid on the can is snug as a rug.  I decide I better check out this development, and she had jammed the two large circular fans in the can to make them fit.  They were wedged against the inside of the can and no gravity was going to make them move, lol.   Fortunately I got there before the truck did or we'd really have a full can next week.

I caught a Beat Bobby Flay the other day and one of the first round judges said "I would trust everything Bobby says.... unless he is giving marriage advice." LMAO. Can't remember who it was.

Off topic a bit, but my ex-boss of ten years was one of the smartest guys I've known...both EQ and IQ, street and book smarts, and he navigated around the corporate sharkfest for 40 years with aplomb.  But dude was awful at picking women.  Twice divorced and his third wife has the cray deeply, and high maintenance as maintenance can be.

So remember in S.1, Tony is turning 40?  Say that puts him born around '59 or '60.  Many Saints apparently takes place mainly in the late 60's with Tony as a teenager.  Wouldn't Tony just be 8 or 9?

and also, I know it's been covered but I haven't done an all-thru viewing of the show since it originally aired 15 years ago......

That's a good call-out, and doesn't seem like something Chase would miss on.  Remember When mentioned that Tony was 22 when made his bones in 1982.

Yeah, I didn't get that.   Jonathan basically saved Monte's ass with that part.  Monte goes from grateful to disgusted in seconds after Hillstrand asks for a little help .

That had to be reality tv manufactured drama. Surely there's no way Monte shits on Jonathan after Jonathan gives him a ram, right?

    Yeah, of course.  Good call.

Me and a buddy would go into this one convenience store and steal beer. This is how it would go down:

The night clerk was this weird guy with really thick glasses who might have been a little "special". One of us would ask buy the latest Playboy, open it right there in the store, and then let the guy at the counter look at it. I remember he would make comments like "Look at the tits on this bitch" and such. The poor guy would be so focused on the magazine that he wouldn't notice when the other would walk out with a case of beer under each arm.

Ha, that reminded me of a thing we did at least a dozen times if not more.  There was a Budweiser distributor in our neighborhood.  At night a semi would make a delivery and the only person there was the truck driver.  He'd open the warehouse door, get the forklift and empty his trailer.  As soon as he entered the warehouse with a load, we'd hustle into the trailer and grab 2-3 cases of beer.  The drivers never even noticed them gone as there was so many cases there.  I'll tell you though running down the length of the dark trailer, hoping that dude didn't come out of the warehouse while you were in the back was scary.

Pine Barrens is still so great. Probably my favorite episode.

I wonder if this show could be made today. All the overt racism and no one besides Meadow really cares.

    "Selfish prick, I'm dying here!"

    "So fuckin' die already!"

Paulie's response kills me every time

  10. Preface this with caveat that we abhor wasting food in this household and are pretty damn good about not doing it....But, every three months or so my wife will see a pork butt at the store and think, 'oh man, some crockpot pulled pork would be great, the kids will love it'!  She brings it home proudly and cooks it.  I generally don't like pulled pork but will take one for the team and eat a bowl with some rice.  The kids turn their noses up at it, and the 4 pounds of leftovers get shoved into the fridge where they eventually find their way to the far back of the fridge, never to be seen from again until I finally decide to throw it out.  I remind wife that no one but her likes her pulled pork.

    Three months later...

  11. Pro tip.  If you're visiting DL and driving, do NOT park in the Mickey and Friends parking structure.  They used to have trams to take guests the half mile or so from the ramp to the park.  Now, the guests have to WALK!  I was shocked and pissed off today to learn this.  Nothing like being overheated and tired before you even enter the fucking park!  And even better to walk back when you're on your last energy reserves (Wetzels saved us tonight).  I don't know what's gotten into Disney but not liking it

Probably should add (cause reading this sounds like first world problems) that I have a weak-ass heart (heart failure and all that) and I "ration" my energy on things like a day at Disney.  This shit this morning set me off as a massive, unneeded waste of "heart energy", but I survived the day.

  13. Got caught up a little on season last night.  Josh's pure laziness just blows my mind.  He's shown it many times in the past, but last night he's already down a hand, his deck boss goes down with a massive leg bruise and is shitting blood, and the rest of the deck group is struggling.  His solution?  Get off his ass and work on the deck?  No.  It's to go give the deck boss a rallying call that the team needs him on the field.  Suck it up and get out there, man.

    What a jerk.

It's not.  There's nothing there. There's Web Slingers, which I passed on due to the wait. My wife and kids said they wouldn't do it again.  They unintentionally created a furnance for the queue. It's on bright concrete and the walls are metal. It just radiates heat like a solar oven. They put in some industrial fans on top of the wall but they don't help that much. There's Pym's Test Kitchen and the Shwarma trailer.  I did have a breakfast shwarma since that's about the only thing open for breakfast in CA.  It was good.  The big plus is that they always have a variety of characters out on the balcony. However, it's surprisingly far away. We had a debate whether the blonde was Captain Marvel or Black Widow. It was too far away to even tell what her costume looked like.  Same thing with the jet. It's so far away, you barely notice it's there. The jumping Spiderman? That never happened once. I assume it was broken and they haven't been able to fix it. A random guy there said he'd been there a half dozen times since it debuted and hasn't seen it once. As far as the design, the buildings don't look like anything in particular. Wow, a brick wall that says "Stark something". Wow a metal wall with the Avengers logo. Cool.

That's a pretty spot on characterization of the attraction.  My kids' two cousins are staying for the week and wanted to see the Avengers thing, so took them to CA yesterday.  We didn't even manage to get into the virtual queue for the Web Slingers, but I saw the line and didn't mind at all.  There's just not much to the whole thing.

Park was crowded, day was hot as hell and a beat down.   Waited over an hour for the Cars Racing ride.  Tried to talk the wife into us going into the single rider line, which was about a ten minute wait, but she wasn't having it.  Have no idea why they can't line the wait lines with inexpensive umbrellas, would make a big difference not being directly baked by the sun.

However, the day was saved by the short lines at the big roller coaster at the pier.  Kids absolutely loved it and went four times in a row.  Still talking about it today.

If this even remotely true then the B1G is stupid beyond words & the leaders who nixed this should be run out of town. Even if they turned their nose up at ou they already let Nebraska in, for fuck's sake.

Had they taken Texas and ou they would have had great leverage & could have poached other blue bloods. Now they're stuck looking at Kansas and Iowa State and the half million or so eyeballs they draw combined.
