Butchie giving Phil up surprised me at the time. The only thing I can come up with is A) Butchie thought Phil lost his mind and B) Butchie is greedy. Probably some of both. Of course Little Carmine went along, I guess he had enough friends left to have a say. The sit down in the freezing garage is one my favorite scenes.

Phil showed his true colors by hiding whlle putting his men in danger with the war. The call while Butchie was walking through Little Italy telegraphed a lot.  Phil pissed that Tony hasn't been found, promising Butchie they'd "talk" about a bump after it was all over, followed by hanging up when Butchie says, "hope so."

Well I like BCS better. To me Bob Odenkirk is more entertaining and charismatic and while BB was great, to me is was a little overrated and sometimes it seemed like it just tried a little too hard...if that makes any sense. Anyway, to each his own but I have enjoyed BCS more. Fight me, biznatches!

I don't know if I'd phrase BB like that, but I get what you're saying.  Just did a rewatch, and found myself wishing Gilligan had spent more luxurious time (as he did with BCS) on mundane matters.  For instance, the period where Walt is living alone in the apartment, happily cooking for Gus with Gabe in that awesome creation, was one of my favorite periods of the show.  I think it only lasted for one episode or so, maybe less.  It's like we didn't need constant life of death drama to enjoy the show.

Back to the show. To me the interesting backdrop on all this is how the league was kind of hanging by a thread and Showtime and Bird really changed all that. Now its hard to imagine someone showing up to a Lakers game with a bag of tickets to give away, etc.

In that Jerry Buss interview from '87 posted earlier, he mentions proudly that the average NBA salary will be $500K the following season.  And he goes on to clarify that, "that is not the all-stars' salary, that is the average NBA player's salary!"  I don't even know what it is now, but man how times have changed.

That was me.  They were something like $50 for 2 at the tournament.

Can't make out what that is, but these were dark green crystal, only available in the member shop.  I was staring at them for like $350 or $400 to two and couldn't pull the trigger.

  5. Does the poster who had those awesome green crystal Masters' Old Fashioned glasses still post here?  His buddy bought them for him at the member gift shop.   If so, post another pic of those bad boys.  Had a chance to buy a set and balked because of the cost.

I'm lucky enough to have been there for 2 practice rounds and it's funny to me to see all the people that stand and watch guys on the range for more than a couple of minutes.  With all the things to see and enjoy on that property the practice area would be near the bottom of my list.

Had an opportunity to see the course for a practice round for one morning.  Practice area is by the entrance and our host drove me crazy hanging around it for a loooong time watching players chip.  I finally said, "let's see this fucking course!"  Walked most of the course, but didn't feel like we had enough time to really take it all in.

If she talks to me as she is walking away, in another room, or does something so she or I can't hear each other during a conversation I just stop talking and assume it doesn't matter.

    Risky strategy, Sir.

I completely disagree with them. That unlv team may be the best college team ever. /csb vern Harris,  the ref, has personally told me it's the best team he's ever reffed /csb....I dont think LJ and the boys were on the take to actually lose,  but no question they were letting Duke cover. Then it got out of hand. Then the hot tub photos.

/csb...attended that Final Four with my best friend (who was going through a hypochondriac phase at the time).  Midway through the KU/UNC game, he announces he's sick and has to go back to the hotel.  I say "WTF", can't talk him out of it, and tell him to take a cab, as I'm taking the car.  Duke/UNLV game ends, and I go over to the Purple Parrot and proceed to get hammered with the raucous crowd.  Two cutie Kentucky fans chatted me up and things were going swimmingly until I told them my buddy went home sick and I made him take a cab.  They cooled considerably after that.  We made plans to meet up the next day, but of course they never showed.

Walking to the car late night on a desolate street when across the way five black youths, who were not happy, yelled "I'm going kick the ass of the first white person I see".  Being drunk, I said, "whoa, whoa, now" and they jogged across the street to greet me.  One asked, "Who did you go for" and I honestly replied with conviction, "UNLV", which was true.  Anyway we walked and chatted a bit, they asked me how the fuck UNLV lost and I had no clue, and parted amigos.  My parting words were, "be careful".  With the wisdom of age,  I've sometimes wondered how lucky I was that night.../csb

  9. It's a cliche but true.  Your reward for having kids is when they have their own, and you really get to enjoy the grandkids without the stress.  I have nine older siblings and their joy with their grandkids is so obvious.  Unfortunately for me, I got a late start at fatherhood and am pretty sure I won't be around when they have their own.

It was alright.  But referential to the series, yet missing most of the things that made the series special.

    Another Easter egg:

Holsten's appeared twice, including the final scene where Tony awaited Dickie.

And in a lesser vein, Dickie made reference to Hesh once, but he never appeared.

I think I agree that, as far as backstory to the series, there was probably more to dig into, and more interesting stuff.  But, in actuality, a lot of that probably happened between the end of this, and the commencement of the series.

      Reveal hidden contents

I rewatched the series within the last year in anticipation of this, and then after the meh reviews, didn't even watch it until now.

But was it ever alluded to that Junior had Dickie whacked?  If it was, I missed it.  And, although Junior was a dickhead, having Dickie whacked for laughing at him a couple of times is more psychotic than he was ever made out to be in the show, I think.

Which means he's guaranteed to get at least 4 points from those picks. If he picked teams who weren't facing each other then there's a probability he'd get zero points from his 4 and 13 picks. This is what makes this game interesting. I thought about just picking all the teams from one quadrant and hoping for a bunch of upsets like the South Regional in 2018.

Yeah, I should have kept my mouth shut on a game I didn't really understand.  Especially on someone named joeycovers.

Thanks for the explanation.  Seems like a cool game, I'll follow from afar..
