I am still on Casis mailing list and just got note that a positive case was reported. Not sure how on 1st day they would already have validated test results (I wouldn't trust rapid test for this), but it has started.

Any details on class/group? I have not heard anything on this yet.

Casis was very anti-mask from the AISD survey a few weeks ago. Like only 40% would have their kids wear a mask.

I went to the Parent Informational and Meet the Teacher yesterday and every single person was wearing masks. This morning drop off I witnessed zero mask ripping ;)

  2. I'm not that concerned about my kids catching COVID and even less about them bringing it home to me and the wife. I was planning on send them masked anyway just to take an extra precaution. However, I think an even bigger benefit of the mask mandate is to make an environment that feels safer for teachers and employees to return and TEACH versus banding together and demanding that everything move to a virtual only option where so many of the kids would suffer. That would be a lot more damaging that simply wearing a mask.

Same here; I’ve always got excellent OU tix and I got Arkansas tix that are showing in my app. Think it’s just a temporary thing, I think every LF member who’s requested OU tix has gotten them.

My unpopular opinion would be they rolled it back with the spike in Delta as they are unsure what will be happening with that game and others and whether they need to move to limited capacity.

JazzFest was just cancelled. Stevie Nicks just backed out of ACL...

I'm OK with masks being required indoors and outdoors if the numbers are bad.  Once the numbers drop, outdoor masks should not be required.  Once they drop more, indoor masks should not be required.  Maybe the rules should be different for schools with kids less than the vaccinated age.

However, if they can require masks in defiance of a state order, why can't they just require kids to be vaccinated unless they have a medical condition that prevents it?  Put all the unvaccinated middle and high school kids in one school.  Sounds harsh but I really want this thing to be over.  A school with 100% vaccinated faculty, staff and students would not have a COVID problem.

We have a fix for this problem sitting in the fridge at CVS.

It's not just kids though... This would be mandating masks among teacher and staff which is one of the reasons Elementary school parents were on edge. Kids could not be vaccinated there however teachers could pass to the child which passes on to the parents and so on. I was planning on sending my little one to K with a mask regardless so I guess this is no skin off my back but the battle will end up being a distraction.

However I would hope this spikes and comes down quick so needing the mask is short lived so they can get back to proper interaction and learning.

This is one of the two things I hate about the electronic tix.

1 - Physical tickets give you a piece of memorabilia.

2 - The secondary market for tickets is efficient.  You say "scalpers" and some people get all up in arms about price gouging or whatever.  But the truth is there is real efficiency to what those folks do.  Tickets are readily available for those who want/need to go to the secondary market and pricing is generally pretty efficient.  It's easy to see if there is a lot of inventory and prices get adjusted accordingly.  The best part is that the buyer is not burdened with some bullshit transaction costs that are there to enrich a third party.  Buyer and seller are directly connected.  Now with the electronic tickets, I'm not going to give cash to someone to forward me an email with a link and then risk getting to the gate to find out I am one of 17 people with that same link and now I have no tickets and no recourse.

It's a disservice to the consumer and a major financial boon to the online resellers.

If I have 4 tickets on my phone I suppose I can send one or two to someone else if I sell them prior but still not as easy as just handing over a ticket. And not to mention I can't sell them to Brat with a flip phone.

Where I see even more issue would be with Club Access. Let's say I have all 4 tickets but either  a guest or my kids need to access the Terrace Club however without the ticket on their phone they can't access without me. So I need to transfer the ticket over to any guest and if it's my child they need to additionally have a smart phone to receive it.

In this boat. See my four OU tickets but no assignment. Must be too much of a rube. 12000s in points FWIW.

12000 points? I have way less than that and have my seats. Do you mean Loyalty ranking?

Stupid question but where are y'all seeing the seat locations for OU?

On the Texas Sports site it's under My Account > Order History then scroll down to the 2021 summary and you can click on the Oklahoma game and see the assignmnets.

I didn’t see an option for ou tix when I got mine. I figured I would hear something later about opting to get them. Hopefully that’s the case

My buddy selected his seats yesterday and said he didn't get an option either.

I'm no expert, but I kind of doubt you would have enough loyalty points to make the cut off. There should be some tickets come open on Stubhub, but they are likely to be pricey this year.

Good point, was just wondering if they even give you the option at this time.

Potentially last year of the RRS in it's current format... could be a hot ticket for sure.

I just found something that said the TX/OU seating is done at the end of July so I guess he might still have a shot if done before Aug.

I'm also in as a 1st timer. I was able to purchase some seats in section 3, on the aisle in the lower bowl. Still never found a way to buy the 2 @ the $3500 donation level online because the ticket insurance embedded app fucks it up. I'm tall so the aisle is super attractive to me; I'm going to give some thought to moving to beneath the overhang however.

Rep given to everyone who mentioned the benefit of locking in the donation. That was really great to know.

For those that just bought tickets for the 1st time this year did you get an option to select Tx/OU tickets? Have a friend thinking about getting tickets but was not sure if we were past the deadline already.

Is there such thing as shorting crypto? If yes, how is it done? Are there places where you can deposit your crypto and they lend it to someone else? I mean, I’m not interested in shorting, like at all, just curious how it’s done.

Yes, to both. Same financial instruments exist with BTC (including leverage) however many of the exchanges that do business in the US will not allow them. You would have to find an overseas one.

My experience is that in Oxford they offer you beer after beer. In Lubbock they throw it at you while your back is turned. Fuck Sand Aggy.

I missed the last road trip to Oxford and have been sad about it ever since. My several trips to Lubbock were all a disaster and I'd rather forget. So yes, bring on Ole' Miss.

The lege had to get involved as AISD is seemingly trying to race everyone to the bottom in terms of support.

For Casis for example the PTA funds 100% of these extra positions: reading specialist, math specialist, gym, spanish etc

At poorer schools these positions would still be funded out of AISD budget. AISD was going to take all these positions away from Casis and not have them had the lege not intervened. On the heels of all of how AISD basically went it alone in comparison to DISD, HISD, EISD, LTISD etc it was pushing a perfect storm of west Austin defections.

We have stuck it out but the drop in kids going to O'Henry this fall for my rising 6th grader vs when my older son (he is a rising 9th grader) is dramatic.

AISD needs to work on some serious parent outreach vs trying to make their kids in school experience worse than it was.

My wife lost it when we heard about the initial announcement as we have our oldest heading to Casis Kinder in a month. Sent all kinds of letter to the board and Superintendent. Stephanie did respond and take a meeting with us to give us her side of things so I guess that's a start.

Why would we need to ditch the tOSU and UM home and homes? Those would still be huge sold out games which will make us tons of money.

Well they would need to rework all the non-conf games because so many are upcoming against the SEC. But with non-division games against a mix of FLA, Bama, UGA and Auburn my guess is they would.
