  1. The thing that scares me about going to Colorado is that they have been saving batteries for 10 years now.
  2. No doubt. These schools are self reporting and attendance is based on ticket sales not butts in seats. And sometimes a business may buy the remaining tickets to get to a sell out and nobody uses those seats and they can't even give them away. I live here is Lubbock and United Supermarkets often buys the last thousand or so tickets at a reduced price just so we can sell out the stadium. I bet anything Nike has done that once or twice.
  3. Just to illustrate how poor a choice Rutgers & Maryland are, they played each other this year and the ratings were terrible. 97,000. That's one of the worst rated games of the year. Future Big12 bottom feeders Cincy & UCF played each other and had 10Xs the audience. 1.06mil
  4. Here's attendance figures I found NEW12 ISU 57,344. TCU 46,562. UK 43,076. KST 51,165. BU 45,463. TECH 56,870. OKST 54,735. WVU 47,658. BYU 59,674. Cincy 38,117. UCF 41,542. CougHigh 25,073 PAC10 UO 54,950. UW 62,933. ORST 31,498. WASU 26,185. UU 52,057. CAL 38,596. STAN 29,965. UA 44,209. AST 43,081. CU 42,847. POTENTIAL TARGETS SDSU 29,892. SMU 24,971. FRESNO 39,067. COLSt 26,891. BOISE 35,121. UTSA 26,835. TULANE 20,361. NEVADA 14,905. MEMPHIS 26,196. UNLV 22,112.
  5. The networks and the Big time programs both want conference consolidation. The networks would rather just broadcast marquee games. Big time programs like the idea of the giant pie of cash being cut into fewer and fewer pieces, thus increasing their share. But in the last thirty years the only legit consolidation was when the BIG8 added the four good Texas schools and shed the dead weight of TCU, SMU and Coug High. And then when the Big East money makers joined the ACC. But it now in order to stay relevant, the BIG12 had to let TCU back into the party, and now adding UH, Cincy and UCF the numbers of schools in the major conferences is growing not shrinking. Soon the PAC12 may replace USC & UCLA with SDSU & SMU. Its going in the wrong direction!
  6. My prediction for the new pac12th media rights deal.
  7. I never understood teams that draft a VY and then tell him. DON'T BE VINCE YOUNG. We want you to be Steve McNair. I live in Lubbock and saw Patrick for 3 years and knew that only about two coaches could exploit his talent, most of the others would want him to conform to their system, rather than building a system that exploits his skill set.
  8. I even see it in games where I hate a particular team but can tell they are getting cheated. Like the OU at Oregon game about 10 years ago. I'm rooting for the ducks but I can see that OU is getting screwed many times over. Especially on the on sidekick at the end of the game where the ducks didn't recover the ball but they were rewarded to ball anyhow.
  9. Watching games that you have NO rooting interest in you can observe bad calls and multiple bad calls against one team makes a pattern. Like the Tech/ISU game in 2021. It was obvious a couple of the officials were steering the game towards ISU, late in the game they had to be outright blatant in their attempt to protect ISU. The Surly game thread was packed with these observations. Was amazing that Tech beat the officials and the Cyclones.
  10. It being "Mickey Mouse as hell" solidifies my contention that UH will indeed do just that. I contend that they will try and have at least one game a year at reliant. Tech has played them at Reliant the last couple of times they hosted Tech. And they will probably try and host other schools that travel well like OSU and I bet BYU can get a lot of polygomists to Reliant.
  11. The Coug High game will be at Reliant. When single game tickets go on sale I don't expect them to do what TCU did in 2022 to slow sales for visiting teams that travel well Like OU, Tech and OSU. UH will gladly let the Horns fans buy all the tickets, which they will. Lots of UT fans in Houston will be glad to have a game in town. Don't disparage this road trip. Yes, UH is way beneath UT. But Burnt Orange will fill the stands and the optics will be hard to deny.
  12. I was rooting for the Chiefs, but I don't think for a second they win this if it's perfectly officiated.
  13. Couple of things. 1. "You'll find a god in every Golden cloister, And if you're lucky then the gods a she" 2. CKK was a college coach for just a few years. Two weeks ago he had Three of his Tech QBs starting on the same NFL Sunday, so his rep as a QB whisperer is justified. 3. Keep him away from the David Carradine Suite at the Swisshotel in Bangkok!
  14. I'm talking about a lack of contrition at any point prior to December 12th. Randi has caused issues on road trips, particularly the NY trip. I believe Beard arrogantly blew off those who privately asked him to real that betch in. Had he taken these warnings to heart things might have turned out differently. But Beards arrogance, lack of self awareness and lack of contrition cost him his job and destroyed his future. I agree with you that he can't offer any kind of mea culpa and/or an apology NOW that he's been arrested. He needed to heed the friendly advice he was getting before 12/12.
  15. Don't we all think Beards lack if contrition and his arrogance preceded December 12th. I feel confident asserting that UT officials had grown tired of Randi's antics and had asked him to leave her at home and/or get her to apologize to UT staffers that she's been running over. Beards reaction to this was, "You can't make me."
  16. I live in Lubbock, he was a god here. Not only could he punch his fiancee' anytime he liked. We let him punch anybodies fiancée. If I were mad at my GF I'd make her go hang out at the practice gym until she apologized.
  17. This post seems reasonable with the information we currently have before us. But just wait until FOIA requests are granted for things like, body cam footage, pictures of bite and bruises on Randi, and most of all the 911 call. The DA of whoever has the tape CANNOT keep it a secret. When the 911 call comes out, plus other evidence gathered on Dec 12th, Beard will be unhirable. You know there's been the "Why hasn't he been fired already" crowd out there since day one. Think how outraged they'd be when the police release all the evidence. Also, UT's internal investigation will eventually have to be made public. You can bet the farm that they found enough to fire him and too much dirt that retention is impossible. UT didn't fire Beard in order to err on the side of caution or because as Minton alluded to, fear of the Twitterverse. They fired him for cause, for hitting his GF. My bet and this is just a guess is that UT has emails that they've sent to Beard about Trew and her behavior towards staff on UT road trips. The internal investigation report may actually villainize Randi, but that won't matter if Beard finally got tired of her crap and lit her up.
  18. Minton's letter cracks me up. FIRST He states the school never interviewed Beard or Randi. They wouldn't need to since there are hard to ignore pieces of evidence out there like: the actual statement Randi made to the police, the 911 call, photos of the bite and bruises. Just those not yet released things would be enough to end his contract without getting into a "He said, she said" interview. SECOND, Trew did NOT make an emphatic retraction. She said he didn't 'strangle' me. But she didn't deny other claims in the arrest report. Like bites, bruises, and claims of him being extremely violent. And her letter said she didn't think he 'meant' to hurt her. (The exact words of every GF who endures abuse) She never said she wasn't hurt, she wasn't scared or he wasn't violent. She did say she understood how breaking his glasses set him off and how she could see he may have been acting in self defense. Still, Her walk back was faint and intentionally released on a Friday after five, that's when politicians release bad news to the press in order to increase the likelihood that it goes unnoticed.
  19. I find it extremely telling that nobody's lawyer is out there in the public making noise. I understand UT being quiet while they gather facts and listen to lawyers. I unerstand the state trying to act like this is no extraordinary case by treating it like all DV cases and therefore not doing pressers about it. But Beards lawyers have pretty much made the one public statement early on. If they thought their client was going to be charged They'd be squaking to every news outlet filling the twitterverse with a defensive narrative. Even more telling is surely Randi has lawyered up. So why aren't they out their painting her as the abused handmade. The only reason UTs, Beards, and Trews lawyers are quite is they can work together to develop a unified consistent story to sell to the public. They can't do that if the different parties go public with their own story and then change their story from time to time. It is my professional opinion as an auto parts counterman and part time Uber driver that all this quiet means all parties are trying to develop a storyline where CB keeps his job.
