The reporter I'm watching said that 20,000 showed up at the Capitol.
That sounds about right imho. Probably more imho, but that's a pretty good ballpark figure.

From what we could tell while we were there, from about 5 to 7, DPS seemed pretty chill. Hope it stays that way.
Great turnout. Very peaceful. Very respectful and patriotic. LOTS of older folks out representin'. Made me proud. It was a good day. Far better than what I expected. I hope it'll be a good night, too.

No V10s? They're the best imho. With V12s very close behind.

Bucket list indeed.
Eh ... and Le Mans is the weekend after Monaco. Hmmm ...
Wheels are turning in my head.

Ah, ok. Thought maybe there was some meaning behind it.

Thoughts about Max in Spain?
Yeah a position penalty would have worked there too. It's all a big mess now.

How much money has Lawrence blown on Lance's racing "career"?
Realize he is worth a few billion and maybe his plan is to keep Lance away from the family business as long as possible, but but outside of Magnussen, I can't think of too many other drivers with that many career starts and that few a career points.
He's probably made money. A lot of money. All the teams are worth far more now than they were before Lawrence bought FI for $117M. I doubt it's worth less than 10x that now.

People today would have stroked out if Senna or Schumi were driving.
Yeah Senna pretty much invented this shit.

If I were Russell I'd go punch him in the mouth. And yes on the grid penalty.
Nah. If you were McCroskey you'd go punch him. If you were George, you'd go find a mirror and make sure your hair was perfect.

Lawson is a fucking magnet for other cars. Was his youth career like this or is this an f1 thing for him?
Can't wait for him to be replaced.
Srsly. Dude is slow af and a fucking menace during the race. Contact all over the place. He's been in F1 long enough now to understand when he's diving in from wayyyy too far back. Weird how guys with much less experience than him already have a far better understanding of what they can and can't do in wheel to wheel racing.

I read somewhere that one reason the car had gotten longer was the protective area around the drivers and the front on the 23' does look a bit longer, but it really looks longer in the back which is the power unit and the fuel cell.
I am seeing things wrong?
I don't think the size of the mandatory monocoque safety cell or other safety structures have increased in recent years (or at least not significantly). They increased the size of the floor (and the length and width) when the hybrid pu components and batteries increased the weight, because they need a bigger floor to create the downforce needed to make such a heavy pig of a car perform effectively (slow-speed turns notwithstanding).

Monaco is a great spectacle, but it just isn’t a race course now. I guess we just have to accept that the Sunday race will never matter. It's still a race course. It's the cars that need to change. It would still be difficult to pass, as it always has been, but some passing would get done. But with these heavy, huge pigs, it's never gonna happen. When the cars were smaller and lighter, there was some passing and the ability of the cars to change direction even in medium and slow-speed corners was astonishing. That's all gone tho, because we can't have nice things.

Surprised that George didn't get more "protest votes" for Driver of the Day just because he cut the chicane.
That was a perfect example of why they need to penalize positions rather than time. Such bullshit. Glad he did get a penalty tho.

I know for sure that I’d be a metric fuckton braver at the plate if we’d had elbow guards. And I still got hit a lot.Oh, absolutely. 100%. And the way they allow the guard to extend way past the elbow is fucking bullshit too. It increases the chance of getting hit.

Rule changes going against player safety are pretty in right now for sure
My ump buddy also said they knmow people are doing it and have been trying to get on top of it but nothing's worked. Said they'd have to go to automatic review of every HBP to get it under control.
-
I was texting my buddy who is a D2 ump, & said one way to slow all this plate-crowding down a whole lot would be to just ban the elbow guards. He responded that he was literally typing the same thing to me when he received my text.
it would change everything.

They don't look like they're moving into the pitch because they're starting with their elbow outside the batter's box in the first place. Same shit Kentucky did. It's ufcking bullshit. Then when they review it, there's no way for them to make that call. All they see is that the guy didn't move into it.

Put me down for “more grass and gravel.” Doubt we hear about track limits tomorrow. And ditto RE Gasly & Albon.
More evidence Piastri is a future WDC. Dude is damn quick and seems so steady emotionally; win or lose he’s exactly the same. And has there been a better driver decision than dumping Alpine for McLaren?
On 5/17/2025 at 12:05 PM, PGFrog said:Agreed, there is nothing wrong with a track that punishes them for not staying on track.
Why paint the damn lines and far better than someone cutting a corner, we get 5 minutes of drivers whining about giving back positions, and then stewards have to make a decision.
Much simpler, cut the corner, catch the grass and go sideways or spin out in the gravel and get buried and your race is over for today.
A damn site better and far better to watch on television than from some parking lot.
100% the track should punish mistakes and should instantly, automatically penalize track limits violations.

At ABIA, just boarded our flight to Mexico. While we were waiting to board, the PA announcer comes on and in his most sarcastic Texas drawl says ...
"Attention passengers in the terminal, we need the owner of the Tesla Cybertruck who left their vehicle parked sideways across two departure dropoff lanes to return to the vehicle before it is towed".
That may be the most 'Cybertruck driver' thing ever. The only way the PA announcer could have made it sound more sarcastic is if he had included words like 'MAGA dumbass' or 'Mr. Musk'.

June 14th - 'No Kings' Mass Protest
in Cloak Room

Hey, never had to do it when I was younger. Figured it was my civic duty now that things have gone to shit. It was very encouraging.
