I m not worried for the long term cycle given the past three years of success, but it does sting a bit to be the losers on so many 50/50 decisions.
I’m no math genius, but I’m pretty sure everyone loses about half of their 50/50 recruiting battles unless they’re not trying hard enough.

We have the privilege of being able to stay patient in recruiting and that aligns with Sark’s strategy. Nobody should be worried in the least bit.

Krush Johnson is a helluva name for a defensive lineman. Hats off to his parents.
-
A lot of people taking the opportunity to kick Ewers while he’s down and exaggerate their grievances. He’s far from the elite talent we were told he was coming out of high school and I think some will forever be bitter about that. Nevertheless, if he chooses to work hard, make some difficult adjustments to his inner-circle, and adapt, he’ll make a career out of quarterbacking in the NFL about on par with Drew Lock. He’ll likely never be a franchise guy, but few are. That’s okay. I’m just thankful he was a Longhorn.

Media: Parker Livingstone is going to be really good.
Surly: We desperately need a WR to emerge!
Media: Livingstone looks like the real deal.
Surly: Somebody! Anybody! Please!

It isn’t necessarily an indicator of success or lack thereof, but Stewart has comically short strides. Like Pacheco with less knee drive. Watching his highlights gives me a good chuckle.

Who of the seven OTF 4-star(-) and 3-star do we think could most exceed expectations? I have two names in mind, but want to hear others’ opinions first.

So what’s the roster looking like next year. Defense better or the same? Offense better or the same but please not possibly worse.
We’re going to be elite at LB and DE. Most other positions are somewhat unclear depending on draft decisions, portal acquisitions, injury recovery, etc. It will be hard to avoid inexperience in the two deep at many position groups. The spring will be pretty interesting.

Campbell is good for at least one terribly timed penalty or fuckup every game.
Fuckups are more subjective, but his last penalty was in the 3rd quarter against Arkansas. I was surprised to learn this as well.

Well, there are like a thousand 3 stars, but as Texas fans we might only need to think about ten of them.
I don’t care too much, but why even have a 5 star rating system if 1 and 2 are rarely ever used. Keep the number of 5 star prospects the same so as not to dilute that rare designation then evenly distribute stars 1-4.
I can already imagine all the “From a 1 star to the First Round” American underdog headlines. Everyone wins.

What brought those recruits to A&M? I mean look into the spectrum of influences obviously including money but what were the player expectations when they arrived in College Station? What were the other draws?
How did they perform while at A&M?
Did the unruly 5-stars arrive as such (likely) and did the environment culture there propel them further beyond acceptable conduct?
How many were actual busts in the end no matter where they played? Why did they choose their new schools (see above) and what impact did choosing a school where they didn't stay actually have on them?
Same questions for those who went on to do well.
I know someone here will give simple answers to those questions ("money" to all of them would be probably least imaginative), but I'd like to know if it's more complex. I suspect it is. I'm not confident that sportswriters are the ones to sift through complication. They're largely dullards.
You sound like the man for the job.

@Hookem2147 mentioned it in the 25 thread, but the in-state DL group for this class is pretty thin. Have the kid from Bastrop. I went and looked and saw this guy is highly ranked and have never heard of him.

After that not much. Carlton and Ford are listed as DL, but they are more EDGE players.
Most other positions look pretty strong in-state.
I’m curious about this guy.

On Blue - Unless he’s a locker room cancer, I hope he stays simply because he’s a big play threat and because RB depth is always appreciated. As things stand now, if he left, we’d be one Tre Wisner injury away from relying on Baby Rhino, two backs returning from bad injuries, and two freshmen.

That is hilarious. I have never heard a recruit on signing day say, Damn I wish I was somewhere else. lol
Seriously. That’s an eye popping statement.

Love college football but I can’t watch game day. Prefer catching about ~5 minutes of highlights either during the broadcast or later. I really don’t see how someone sits thru 3 hours of it.
I never just sit and watch it, but it is the background noise of my fall Saturday mornings while I get shit done so I can enjoy the rest of my day in peace.

The problem for players using the spring window is that it increases their inability to crack the two deep elsewhere significantly. People around players are now telling players that if they're going to leave a team, they need to do it in the winter window.
That makes sense. Selfishly, I'm just not ready to give up on those three developing into dudes.
-
Spencer Shannon, Andre Cojoe, Jaydon Chatman could also be candidates.
I suspect we'll see more transfers after spring ball than in this upcoming window and I hope Vasek, Gullette, and Bledsoe at least stick around through the spring. They are all in line for increased opportunities following some senior departures.

I suppose if we do play against Cook next year, it would be awesome to have Graceson Littleton line up against him in press coverage for play 1 so that they can just drop gloves and duke it out hockey style. That’s probably the most entertaining the UTEP game will get.

With how dramatic his recruitment was, he was always going to be boom or bust. That said, him failing to see the field was probably far less impactful than anyone could have guessed. It will be interesting to see where he lands.

Texas Recruiting Notes 2026: Boulevard of Broken Bagmen
in 🤫$9.95🤫

Based on Gerry’s write up, there’s 20 recruits committing over the next few weeks, and I’d set the O/U for Texas at 7.5. That’s objectively pretty good, but I’m sure some will feel like the sky is falling with so many “losses” over a short period of time. Hold on to your hats.
