All this discussion and no one has mentioned the Bike Mafia?  Let's see, a ridiculous and expensive project which benefits only a handful of idiots, all of whom ride bikes.  It's not difficult to see where the pressure is coming from.  What a coup.  I guess forcing bike lanes on residential streets that no one has ever commuted by bike through was getting boring for them.

And someone above asked if someone on the city council has an interest in a window screen manufacturer/installer.  You think?

We choose, through inaction, to let the nuttiest and the most corrupt run our cities.

Bikes will never be a viable form of transportation other than recreation for even a full one percent of the commuting public.  Hills and heat pretty much guarantee this.  Bike lanes need to be excluded when talking about traffic improvement and funding.  Put it with parks and rec etc....because it is strictly a recreational activity for affluent Austonians.  Your bus boy isn't riding his bike to work.  Stop the charades and tell the truth.  Your credibility would then move from 0 to 1.

And Pasken, are you trying to serious tell us a freeway shoulder was intended for Bike use?  LMAO...you think people buy this shit who don't live in the 04?

  4. shit is so fucking sad, but DADS....implore your daughters....GO TO THE FUCKING POLICE IMMEDIATELY.....the schools have shown time and time again they will protect themselves first and the student second if at all.

I know situation is not that cut and dry, but a #speakup movement seems more important at this point than the #metoo movement.  The issue wouldn't be as bad today if this was preached.

  5. huge part of the problem was the director who decided he had to have three scenes in the movie before a script was written....

Rich casino planet was one. Fucker forced his political shit down everyone's throat, the SW movie and universe were afterthoughts.  No wonder it is completely out of place.  Get someone to make a movie instead of a political statement.

Just a big pile of shit

Yup, those are the only two options.

Oh wait that's incorrect, this is just typical shaggy/surly bullshit hyperbole.

Here's an example of a positive review from a critic I like who doesn't have anything to fear from TWDC. He just does this on Youtube:

Here's another example of some non-critics discussing what they liked and didn't like:

    https://www.wired.com/story/star-wars-the-last-jedi-crosstalk/

What I take away from this is that TLJ is generally not for Surly, aka a bunch of middle-aged (predominantly white) guys. Younger folks and a more diverse crowd seem to really like it, even specifically liking some of the things that Surly seethingly loathes.

read the comments, about 80% hated it.....the ones who weren't paid to give reviews

  7. turning Jin Yang into a villain is a poor easy move that screams lazy.  Having him take over the company and then copy it....could see that from the first second they mentioned Erick's 10% ownership....Richard has become entirely impossible to root for as the clumsy super nerd...Gifoyele and Dinesh are hardly characters, and more of a weekly side joke...

It honestly feels like they created a blue print and handed it off to less talented people who are just mailing it in until the viewership drops enough to cancel.  The quick wit and smart humor have been replace by "create a dumb problem, fail miserably...quick resolution...foreshadow next problem...repeat

At this point it might be a spin off series if they were to go five minutes without stepping on their dicks

    I'm out

Big news, potentially, if they follow through, from China this morning:

An interesting series of words juxta-positioned against their bombastic reporting of how strong they would be not many days ago.

    China playing the long game.

edit:  ok maybe not what I remembered, still contrast, maybe not bombastic:

    http://www.globaltimes.cn/content/1096987.shtml

    From cnn:

    http://money.cnn.com/2018/04/09/news/economy/china-xi-jinping-economy-trade/index.html

So....most progress toward fair trade with China since Monica was. Passing out BJs in the Oval. American grew the Chinese GDP more than our own during Obama.

  9. Al Collins driving a white space bronco.

Making all all of the main characters fucking terrible. Finn is a coward/deserter, Poe a moron who gets people killed and Rey....a no body.

There are are multiple reasons this sucks ass, but having 75% of the movie with Al take the wheel being the driving force is what made it so terrible.

Oh, even hologram Luke fight was seconds long and terrible.

Alright.  Did 6 pizzas last night on the green egg.  Was slammed with trying to keep up with cooking and hosting friends.

Bought the dough from my local bakery.

I did a test pizza and the green egg was too hot. (around 700).  Charred the bottom pretty good, but pizza was still pretty good.   I got the temp down to around 500-475 and it was better pizza.  Was only taking about 6 min per pizza.

I didn't find any semolina at HEB, so I just used regular flour.  Probably wasn't the best option, but that's what I went with.

I used this no cook  sauce recipe that came America's Test Kitchen.  I really liked it.  Had good acidity and no sugar.

    No Cook Pizza Sauce

I did find some fresh mozzarella at HEB and I threw it in the freezer for 20 min and then grated it.

Had a variety of ingredients and let people make their own pies.  My favorite was Italian sausage, pepperoni, caramelized onions and mushrooms .  ( I had done a quick sauté of the mushrooms so that they wouldn't dry out on the pizza.)

My Super Peel made it easy to transfer pizzas from Stone.

    Super Peel

Definitely will be doing more pizzas soon.   Just not six in one evening.

temp is not wrong, just in a full size pizza oven you would be moving the pizza to a different part of the stone to control the heat/burn of the crust, which you cant do on the green egg, but hotter the better.  Need to research some techniques to I can cook at extremely high temps without burning.

Question...did you take the dough straight from the fridge or did you let it sit out at all?  (we always tried to keep the dough cold until tossed - got a new green egg I haven't used yet)

As a pizza connoisseur, I appreciate all feedback in this thread. I checked out Dark Horse's seriouseats link (they generally have good stuff) and I think I unlocked another secret after some experimenting tonight. If you strive for a true NY style - i.e. round, greasy as all hell and delicious...the cheese is very key once you have the crust worked out. Shredded is out. Low moisture is out. You need mozz in a block that is neither of those and you need to shred it yourself. That, along with your pepp, will give you the greasy outlook you are looking for.

Though I like the NY style crust and method I posted above, to get closer to a true NY style crust I still have some work to do.

what you are looking for is a triple washed Mozz.  Hard to find, commercially the best brand is "Grande Cheese", but some substitutes can be found.  The triple wash prevents the moisture from being fully released causing the yellow or plastic cheese consistency.  Best part about the triple was is the reheat factor, since the moisture level is so much higher, the cheese will reheat multiple times before becoming craft shredded cheese.

Best results for NY style crust is a long rising time.  24 was the minimum, but 36-48 was preferred

NY also does not use a "cooked tomato" in most of their sauces (no pot of sauce on the stove top etc - sauce cooks on the pizza).  They are simply a binder and not meant to be featured over the other ingredients.

That’s the market I’m shopping in as well. I’ve been looking at Ranger/Parhfinder/Sea Hunt BXBR/Sportsman and off and on at Robalo Caymans. I’m looking for one to use in the river locally and on the coast several times a year.

We have had a a Blue Wave and Sea Hunt. Surprisingly I don’t miss the Blue Wave at all. The sea hunt has been an amazing boat so far.

I had many, many complaints about TFA (namely playing it safe with a re-hash, making the original trilogy basically meaningless to the history of the galaxy, calling it a "map to Luke" instead of a may to the first temple, etc.), but at least it was a well done, fun, cohesive movie.

I watched TLJ and TFA on consecutive days recently, and it's unreal how bad TLJ fares in the comparison. Just as utter, incredibly stupid, nonsensical mess.

I mean, fuck, arguably the coolest moment completely undoes the entire franchise. Next time they build a Deathstar type weapon, just lightspeed a lone X-wing through it!

Exactly this. Shocking difference in movies. You finish the first with some possible new heroes. By the end of TLJ you wanted to replace Finn and drive into a wall. TNT now showing TFA will only make the sentiment grow.

That said, I would rather see a system where players and schools can decide how long they want their mutual commitment to be.

If they agree to a four-year scholarship, then the player can't transfer without a penalty and the school loses that scholarship for all four years, whether the player is still on the roster or not.

If they agree to a one-year scholarship, he only takes up a scholarship for one year. The player can then leave without penalty after a year or the two parties can agree to extend the scholarship for 1-3 years.

and there is the rub....it's not supposed to be about the NCAA putting out the best basketball or sporting product they can.  It's supposed to be about getting student athletes an education.   They should not be creating ANY barriers for a student athlete to get their education wherever they see fit.  The quality of the game shouldn't even be considered except by fans lamenting the good old days.

I trust CP so much more with the final shot

I’d like to think subconsciously these two last second shots by Green and Paul will really help Harden. For the past 4 years he has felt if he didn’t produce we don’t win. That was toxic at the end of games. Maybe this showed him a different path. The last second hero ball seems to have been his biggest weakness in the past (double etc), excited to see his response.
