Corona Del Mar. my friend is gonna have a wake up call in Austin lol
I'm sure he has spent some time there, as his dad coaches a pretty important football team in the area.

The defense will literally implode. LBs and DBs will claw at the Earth, trying to escape as they're sucked into the vortex where our DTs should be lining up

Doesn't matter what you run if you can't get off the line. No amount of measurable athleticism would have overcome this level of bitchassedness
Uhm that uh, is kinda the point we've been trying to make here?

A decent amount of NFL TEs run 5.0s. But not at 225 lbs. And they don't run 4.7 shuttles at any weight.
And if he can still run a 5.0 at 250ish by the time he's in your program for a while, then that's not terrible for a TE, and also not indicative of overall athleticism. But I think I'm kinda going away from the discussion, so I'll tap out.

I'm not talking about an NFL TE. I'm talking about an effective starting college TE. Someone who doesn't get embarrassed by a 5'6" DB. A 5 second 40 is fine for a college TE. Epps problem wasn't that he just wasn't athletic enough - his problem was that he couldn't or wouldn't put in the work in the weight room and didn't play with any effort on the field.
A lot of decent college TEs who run around the 4.8 or lower.

SIAP-- What's the deal on this guy and why haven't I seen him as a possibility? Running a 10.28 100m at 6'5 and 225lbs just seems unfair.
Not sure if anyone has answered you yet, but I'm going to say it's because he's not interested in us. I hope you finally have the answer you were looking for.

Someone catch me up. Is A&M recruiting Easterby or McNair? What position(s) and do they have an updated Hudl?
Not sure anyone really has a gouda answer for you...

McNair? Yeah- that was the deal with Easterbee- he was the team Chaplin in New England and that’s how he got his foot in the door in Houston. And McNairs the worst kind as I’m pretty sure it’s a combination prosperity gospel/snake handlers.
The entire Texans organization is over the top Christian fundamentalism nonsense. And I’m a pretty conservative believer and attend regularly so this isn’t like some sort of unhinged rant against Christianity from a militant atheist.Easterby was brought in as your regular ole team chaplain/character coach guy, which wasn't too odd. But he was in the building at the time of Bob McNair's health problems and eventual passing, so rumor is that Cal and the McNairs personally leaned on him a lot, and that it took the relationship to a different level which ended in the Easterby gaining a little bit too much power.
So yes, not the greatest judge of things, Cal. I really do wonder his deep down, personal feelings about Texas football, and how connected he feels to it. Just doesn't seem to be as big as I'd have hoped.

Please go to this thread. You have my blessing.
Look, we're trying to get Cal McNair to dish out. You gotta understand him first. So he likes video games and christian music. We're almost there.

I'm sure it was just a coincidence that most of their new players loved Jesus and were very vocal about it on social media. I'm not even a Texans fan, but the Easterby saga was so strange that when I first heard about what was going on, I had to read more about it.
McCown, also a Jesus guy, was one of Easterby's biggest bro's, who he wanted to bring in as HC (luckily Nick seemed to stand up against that one).
As for drafting players because they're Christian or whatever, I don't really see that. It's not like Davis Mills is leading prayer outside of NRG every day. Now on the free agent side, there was a lot of talk of "The right guys," but a lot of players around the NFL are "really wanna thank god" types and such, so I'm not sure how much of that was going on.
But yes, Easterby had no business being in the position he was in, and that's a direct reflection of the McNairs.
Maybe telling Cal that Texas is God's team will help.

Are we sure if Cal maybe didn't have a bad experience with football at Texas? Maybe he was shoved in a locker or something?

How to get Cal's money into Texas NIL coffers:
1. Somebody on here go convince him that they'd make a great executive and get hired
2. Be incompetent and a dick in general(two things i and a lot of others are most definitely good at)
3. Get fired/bought out after a year
4. Use the money on NIL
That's where i was going with all that. Totally on-topic.
The dude probably sits around and plays video games all day. Maybe there's an opening there.

I legit don't think Davis Mills is that bad of a QB, and they just have him no chance at all to succeed. Other people see how you treated that guy, why would they ever believe in you or your process?
What do you mean no chance at all to succeed? They kept Tunsil. Extended Brandin Cooks. Went out and got him some TEs. Drafted him an OL in the first round. Drafted him a WR in the second round (who is diagnosed with leukemia during training camp). Drafted him a stud RB who is in the argument for RotY (which he won't get probably).
And you don't want to point out the defensive picks that seem to have gone decent so far?
Anyway, not gunna discuss it any further on this thread, but holy hell you've overlooked a lot.

They still have to draft good players.
Oh wow. Never thought of that.

I think it's absolutely insane that someone would hire a coach with the intention for them to lose, but hey, not my money to burn.
Again, there weren't a lot of serious candidates lined up to take the position, because the roster wasn't good, and freak boy QB wanted a trade. That's just the facts. You were going to have to pay someone, and they were probably going to lose.

It works if you have someone in charge who knows what they are doing. The Texans don't so everything they try is going to fail.
I dunno, they're about to have 1.1, , on top of what the Browns give them, and then basically pick 32, so it seems to have worked perfectly.
Chili w/o beans

I have done the "drip chili" or whatever it is before in my WSM. You basically smoke your grind in large chunks over your pot which catches the drippings. Once it's almost fully cooked you add it to the pot with all of your liquids and seasonings and veggies or whatever and break it up, then cook. You can leave the lid off for a bit and some smoke will get in. Personally, it was more smoke than I'd prefer in my chili.
Now, SOMETIMES when I make a chili that is half-grind half-chunks, or a beef stew, I'll part my roast I use for the chunks into 3-4"-ish chunks and cool-smoke them for a little bit before cutting them up and browning on the stove. That gets just a hint of smoke into your chili or stew that is perfect.
