I’d prefer they kept this shit under wraps better.  No reason to let Tech know who to prepare for.  Keep it vague but maybe ask fans for prayers, suggest people donate blood and be organ donors, suggest that Quinn is getting his affairs in order…. Ya know, misinformation.

"But when will he be back?"

"Doc has given him 2 weeks."

    "oh, good."

    "...to live."

Error prone? He screwed up one time in several years.  And his mistake was to mix up the names of two players at the same position who play in the same game for the same team.  This wasn't a systemic issue where he called him Bijan Johnson the entire game but a mistake in the moment.

So I'm not a big Galindo fan, but I thought saying "Bijan Johnson" was an intentional attempt at creating something off of the combo of Johnson and Bijan (Johnson handing the ball off to Bijan off the direct snap). I mean I don't like it or anything, but I feel that is something Galindo would attempt in that situation.

What Hank said. I saw him in a t-shirt and shorts lobbing the ball around before UTSA like he was in the parking lot at a tailgate. If there’s been a report of him running with the one’s as a full go, then mea culpa for missing it. Needless to say, I am stoked to learn about it.

Since the whole "day to day" thing last Monday I've felt we were probably talking a two game injury for him vs. anything close to 6, but seeing him out there Saturday made me feel a bit better about his chances this week. Not that he was suited up, that could always be gamesmanship, but the running and warm-ups weren't some half-assed bullshit with that injury. But still, he can go out there this past Saturday, whip it around a little, run around, and come in the training room Sunday feeling like he was hit by a train, and then we have a setback. So no, it's not entirely obvious he'd be playing this week based on what we saw this past Saturday alone, but we haven't heard of any setbacks so I've been feeling better about this week. And now CTJ putting things the way he did has me feeling even better.

Every game this year is a trap game for Texas.

    1. ULM - unknown of a freshman QB making his first start in over 2 years.

    2. Bama - risk of being embarrassed at home.

    3. UTSA - Traylor's superbowl and potential post Bama hangover.

    4. TT - Lubbock is so scary. Tortillas will be everywhere, lose this one and the season is over.

    5. WV - They suck, how will Sark ever get the team amped to play this game. Plus OU is next week, we will probably be looking ahead.

    6. OU - Remember last year?

    7. ISU - another potential let down after a big game scenario.

    8. Ok St - Ok St starts a 12 year veteran at QB and Gundy always has them ready for us.

    9. K State - Purple Wizardry and all that bullshit.

    10. TCU - Revenge against Phat Pat game.

    11. Kansas - You don't just march into Lawrence and expect to win.

    12. Baylor - either this is for all the marbles, or our season has been over for weeks. Either way, Aranda will have Rapelor ready...Prepare thy ANUS!

EDIT: I think I missed the attempt here

This is such a terrible way to look at a game. This essentially reduces every play down to pure luck and focuses only a set number of plays that if gone the other way would have been detrimental to UT.

What if UT recovered the inside kick? What if Watts picked off that trick play deep ball to the end zone? What if one of our QB pressures resulted in a sack?

Anyone can do this as nauseam and come up with alternate realities.

And what if targeting isn't called, going from 3rd and 8 to 1st and 10 with a fresh set of downs for UTSA? That maybe gives Texas an extra drive. Maybe Texas scores, and we're NOT 21 points better because we're actually 24 or 28 points better!?

Same people who thought UTSA was a trap game are the same people that think Tech is gonna "bring it like it's never been broughten"

Personally I believed that Bama was the trap game, in anticipation for what UTSA was a'gunna be bringing. Maybe I was right. Maybe I was Memphis.

The UTSA game could have been a lot closer. The dropped pass in the endzone. Tipped pass that turned into a pick 6. The dropped pass on 4th and 1. The Bert FG that may have been a false start? (Are kickers allowed to move before the snap?) Their QB leaving the game with a concussion or w/e.

If gimpy Card is starting again, this is a close win at best. And fuck the techtards in this thread with their fake humility reverse jinx bullshit.

I mean imagine the score if Bijan doesn't flip from Ohio State!!!!!!

  8. I've done the quick 6-7 day one. Forget my recipe, but it was only salt and coarse black pepper. Cured in fridge inside of two gallon bag. Flipped over every day. Smoked over pecan with a tick of mesquite. Was great.

From what I heard the quack say while he was gouging away on my knee so many years ago, the difference between strain and sprain in medical terminology is that one refers to ligaments which hold joints together and the other to tendons which hold muscles to bones - I'm not sure which one's which, but I'll bet you could look it up.

In engineering terminology, I don't think I ever heard "sprain", but strain is movement (stretching) of a piece placed under stress (applied force). There's a sub-issue here, which is whether the stretching is permanent, i.e. does the piece return to its original shape when the stress is removed, or does it stay stretched? If it snaps back, that's elastic, but if it doesn't, that's plastic.

I don't know what the medical terminology between those two states is, but I'm hoping for the elastic.

EDIT: Assumed that the piece (ligament or tendon) doesn't break. If it does, that's beyond elastic or plastic and into "fucked".

Yah, quick google search shows sTrain is muscle/tendon related, sPrain being the ligament. I just remember a radio host I listened to who's an ex football player ranting about sprain vs. tear a few times, so hey I finally knew something.

I know Ceddy did his research and all but a sprain, by definable,  involves ligament damage.  Perhaps he means no visible damage.   The grading is the degree of identifiable damage on imaging.

Absolutely. Normally "sprain" involves a small tear or stretching of the ligament, but it's definitely damage.

Unless he was thinking "strain," which is not the case here.

My medical expert on shoulders (random guy I’ve never met on the internet) is saying the 9.95ers have botched this recovery timeline from the get-go and that 1-2 weeks out is more likely.

I’m no ortho doc but I’m eating breakfast in a Reno casino right now and I choose to believe this.

I would guess something more around two weeks on Sark saying he's "day to day" alone, based on what "day to day" normally means, plus the reports of Card/Wright taking the reps. But I'm still getting used to Sark-Speak. Day to Day doesn't literally mean he can be okay tomorrow in every case, but more that they're really not sure of a minimum time. It would normally suggest to me it's a lot about the uncertainty of pain management, healing time, further injury etc.. NFL guys labeled day to day immediately after a game might play that week, or it might be a couple of weeks. Just depends if they can get through a practice that week without any major complications that day and the next etc... Rarely does an important player labeled "Day to day" go beyond three weeks unless there is a major setback. By reports, it for sure wouldn't be this week. Official news between here and next Monday's press conference could shed some more light, hopefully.

  12. About 20% into Lonesome Dove. Read Dead Man's Walk and Comanche Moon first, so the "differences" in the past are interesting. I made laughing tears reading the part about the creation of the Hat Creek sign. A book has never done that to me.
