  1. Counterpoint - We are the only Big 12 team with a credible path to the CFP, which would put $6MM in the pockets of the Big 12. It’s not a huge sum in the grand scheme of things, but it ain’t chump change either.

  2. The late hit call was clear cut in my view. I would want it called if the roles were reversed. Howard had clearly conceded the playing field and took a full step out of bounds before Watts made contact.

If your point is that the game has evolved such that we’re protecting players too much and something like that shouldn’t be called then that’s certainly an argument. That was a big part of the narrative coming out of last year’s AFC championship when Ossai was flagged for a similar hit on Mahomes.

That said, this is how they call it now and they are pretty damn consistent with it. So this wasn’t a case of there being some sort of anti-Texas bias. Watts had to make a smarter play there. End of story.

100% a welch. Bet was agreed upon.

    ugly look for you.

you should be PMing and asking the guy for his PP or Venmo.

Well it sounds like JW doesn’t want the $200 bad enough to dox himself to ztejas.

A compromise might be a $200 donation to the Texas One fund. Or I’d happily take a $200 donation to my Movember campaign to fund research to fight men’s cancer. :)

Yeah, I didn’t think he’d go back to that one after the td.

Well, totally different plays. In the most simplistic terms, they were both tosses to Baxter, but that’s about where they end. The TD was on 4th and 1 and came from under center with a formation that suggested a sneak/shove. That play subverted the formation and surprised the D.

The situation for the failed 3rd down call was totally different, and the play design didn’t seem to take advantage of the obvious pressure KSU was going to be bringing given the criticality of the outcome.

  5. I’m on the totally opposite end of the spectrum. I think it’s a really interesting idea and I’m glad to see them trying something to make the regular season a little more relevant. 82 games is a slog and we’ve seen so many teams and players coast for long portions of it.

It may not end up working but just the act of trying it signals a form of progress.

  6. I was just there over the weekend. Renting a car is definitely the way to go. Ubering just wouldn't be practical. You'd wait forever to get one and then it would cost a pretty penny to move around.

  7. No one has mentioned not seeing Mitchell wide open uncovered in the back of the end zone and throwing out of bounds not close to being catchable to Worthy. I'm just not convinced Maalik will be better unless he decides to start putting some touch on the ball.

Probably because he wasn’t “wide open”. Tech was in a zone and there was a guy in the area with eyes on Quinn. There was a small window had Quinn thrown high enough, but it was far from a gimme. It was also three plays after his injury and I’m guessing that played into his decision to throw it away and save the FG chance.
  8. Pretty sure someone was crashing down on Brooks which is why MM decided to go to AD. I thought it was the right read, just threw it behind him.

I went back to look but YTTV won’t let me screenshot. There wasn’t anyone crashing. At worst Brooks would have had a 1v1 and needed to pick up a yard or so.

Regardless, trying to draw meaningful insights of any kind from a single play is a waste of everyone’s time. Seems like we’re about to get a bunch of data on MM. I have no idea what to expect, but I’m for sure hoping the data is positive.

  9. I watched the entire game sober and didn't see Quinn make a read that good that fast all game.

There is literally no way to know that without seeing the all 22 and breaking down each drop back. Quinn was fucking dealing and took shots when they were there and checked it down when they weren’t. Or that’s what it looked like based on what we saw.

Btw, Murphy had an easier throw to Brooks in the flat that would have almost certainly gotten the first down, which was the main objective on that play. I don’t care how fast you read if you can’t move the sticks.

  10. If you can’t see how calling one team for everything and the other for nothing impacts a game, you’re a waterhead.

My comment was about holding. That crew called holding one time on each team. The Big 12 just doesn’t call them. That’s been true now for more than 5 years. People need to move on and accept how they call the games.

But hey, you used a term I’ve never heard of before and now I know how to use waterhead in a derogatory manner. So that’s pretty neat.

  11. I swear some of you have football autism or something. There’s a lot more to playing QB than throwing the ball.

That’s exactly why I’m not sure what we have in MM yet. What we know he can do is throw a football. Super far and/or super fast. I have seen nothing that tells me how good of a QB he’s going to be.
