I don't have as much issue with his fastball simply because his offspeed allows teams to sit on it. Carson Benge who we just faced has dominated with a straight 90-94 fastball all year long because he has a dominant 12-6 curve that sits 12-14 mph off his fastball and it buckled us all day long. Benge is pretty much Tanner Witt.

It obviously would not hurt Lebarron to have some run or cut on his fastball though, just unfortunate that his slider and splitter are dirt balls.

    100%

  2. I love how A&M is thrown in at #25. They likely won't finish ranked. It reminds me of our 2011-2022 run where Texas was routinely thrown in at preseason #15-25 and then routinely underachieved in comparison to the projection.

Js1….I don’t know where you get your Lady Horns data/info/stats, but I’m really impressed at your ability to do so.  It adds quality to the posts and makes for interesting reading.  Thanks.

100% agree here. I don't know how you have so much knowledge across the entire catalog of UT Athletics. I feel like I pay attention, but @Js1's depth certainly outweighs mine.

I was an SID in another life.  CDC should hire me.

Hey, hey, me too. Although, I was an assistant SID out of UT. I'd love to do something similar, or just have a role in the AD in some capacity, once my main career has provided financial independence.

It really is disheartening that Lebarron didn't do anything to get better after last year, which makes his decision to comeback that much worse. He has the ability and pitch mix to be an elite arm if he could just command his offspeed. This is where players have to take self accountability in their own development, coaches can only do so much.

He is the only thing this team is missing.

Needs more movement/action/ride on his fastball too. There's not much there except velo. However, I otherwise agree with what you said. He's basically a two-pitch guy; and one of those pitches he can't locate, and the other is fast but doesn't move at all.

Dumb question but how are Gerry and Bobby making money if they don’t charge? Ads?

If the don't charge for what?

They now do charge a sub fee for access to the "OTF premium" insider content on the board.

They're also playing the YT subscriber/view game for the long term, have local/corporate in-video and banner sponsors, and take "donations" for Q/A/comment submissions on their streams.

I'm sure there are other mechanisms, as well.

Get healthy? Fuck, what did I miss??

    Thankfully, nothing recent.

@Hookem2147 has previously said that Ace is dealing with a nagging injury, which is why his velo is down and the reason we didn’t see him much at the beginning of the season. He’ll apparently have it cleaned up after the season.

I’m not saying this isn’t possible, but can someone post the projected starting 5?

(LT) Banks, Neto/Conner (I think Neto takes it from Conner), Majors, Campbell, Williams (RT)

Can’t tell if y’all are just doing the Perryman bit from last summer or not, but here is this to ease any concerns

If we could close with these two post players I would be very excited for next season despite my lack of confidence in RT.

I had genuinely forgotten that happened. That settles it then. Let's get both.

Isn't that often a year to year thing? Like if there's an extra 'ship, it goes to a walk-on.  Until they need it the next year?

Right. My "analysis" was to see why we potentially only have one scholarship left. I don't think that's accurate. I believe Texas has two.

What do we think the realistic ceiling is for Max Grubbs? Is he a weekend guy in the SEC? He doesn't miss a ton of bats, but he gets a lot of groundballs and has looked pretty good this year for a true sophomore who we didn't expect to be a weekend starter heading into the year.

I think he's a realistic Sunday guy - maybe Saturday with another off season. If he's still the Friday guy or even the clear cut Saturday starter next season, Pierce/the new head coach managed the roster poorly.

You're able to commit to a school while still going through the draft process, believe Marcus Carr did that with us. Don't think I've seen a mock/big board with Toppin on it so obviously fine taking the commitment since he's the better player with more potential. It just gets tricky keeping Keita warm if he's ready to commit.

    1 scholly available I believe

Which is dumb. Texas needs competent bigs. Shouldn't have taken Presley. Onyema is also a wasted 'ship. Pryor might be, as well. Does Perryman get a scholarship again? Texas has 13 total.

Returning (4 or 5): Weaver, Shedrick, Perryman?, Onyema, Pryor

    HS (2): Johnson, Codie

Transfer (5): Presley, Pope, Larry, Kent, Mark

    Total: 11 or 12 of 13.

Keita and Toppin should be made priorities. I don't care what moves they have to make.

Wonder how they will navigate this one with Toppin going through the combine. Deadline for NCAA players to return is May 29th.

Figure out a way to take both. That would be huge for Texas.

Yes he throws 102 and I know yall are thinking “he will never step foot on campus”. I’d say there’s a 95% chance he IS on campus next season.

This is a take on potential. However, he hardly has pitched for his JUCO and, as of two weeks ago, has thrown 18.1 innings. During that time he has 16 walks and 9 HBP.

    Fast, yet very erratic.

Or, maybe he's not erratic, as we can expect him to walk/hit guys. He's just unskilled potential. I'm sure our great pitching coach can help him out...

  15. I always think the term “live arm” is code for “fast, yet erratic.” I know it has to do with an effortless motion, but I feel like it usually describes guys who have good velo but are inconsistent.

Now Texas has to sweep the last six games and hope OU goes 3-3. Very unlikely.

True. Not with OU having BU and @Cincy remaining. Honestly, the two-seed is pretty fucking good at this point given where this team was a couple of weeks ago. I just hope they take the next two series and hold onto it.

WVU finishes with KSU and @TCU, while OSU has TTU and @UH. Have to think OSU is going to fair pretty well with that finish. Texas plays competitive teams in both remaining series, but they’re playing decent baseball now. We’ll see.

Y'all blaming LBJ when we have one fucking hit is pretty entertaining.

I mean, two things can be true. LBJ only went 4.1, allowed four runs, and had seven hits against 3 Ks. That’s not a great outing.

Also, the offense has also been absent today.

Amazing series win. Have we...found our identity and are turning it on at the last minute? That would be very David Pierce of us.

    Let's do it again tomorrow.

Paging @Fletch for your standard saying about Pierce's teams late in the season...
