Is he a bitch, or did the people who are supposed to benefit make a whole lot of money?
Maybe it's both.
Neither is good.
I was responding to the posts suggesting the market shouldn't be up given the aggregate tariffs still in place are about the same - the point being that nobody believes any of them will remain in place.
The folks profiting from the market manipulation deserve to get Luigi'd tho.

That tweet says we are flirting with a true crisis. Oh the crisis is here. We’re flirting with collapsing of the most stable currency in the world bc our President is a fucking moron who doesn’t understand economics
Very possible. Also possible that China is dumping some of their treasuries to fuck with us, but that would get pretty expensive unless there is a shortage in demand.

And here comes the EU ...
Interestingly, it looks like the EU is taking a more measured approach of trying to fuck with red states as much as they can, which I applaud.
QuoteDig deeper, and it turns out the EU’s trade nerds have stirred some unaccustomed creativity into their expert knowledge of obscure customs codes, while channeling a helping of passive aggression to inflict pain on Trump’s base.

Huh, that's weird - I was told by some MAGA big brains that the real reason for the trade wars was to drive down Treasury yields so Trump could save the country YUUUGE money when it came time to re-finance the country's debt. You're telling me that these people might have been full of shit?

We should let R's buy stock in brown/black people, gays, and trans. Watch their attitude change. Of course, they'll just try to buy actual colored people vs the stock, but you get the point.
The rich ones, for sure ...

Remember how all the Trumpers wouldn't shut up about how we all need to be armed, because "that's the last line of defense against an authoritarian state - disarming the public was how them Nazis were able to run roughshod and kill all those people!"??? Turns out, the fuckers were right about that. They just didn't tell us that they were the authoritarian state we'd have to worry about.
We're getting pretty goddamned close to "last line of defense" territory.
I think this goes here ...

- Not so fast, the Supreme Court said late Monday. The court signaled that detainees designated as "enemies" of the U.S. could be deported, but should have some way to challenge their removal.
That's big of them. I was fully prepared for them to say, "Everyone should have the opportunity to challenge their removal, but the courts have no ability to contest the 'no backsies' clause of the Trump administration's agreements with foreign governments, so, sorry, the best we can do is send a 'I was wrongfully deported" t-shirt to CECOT memorializing your big win in the U.S. courts."

Stock futures up 2.5% - 3% this morning. Markets are doing what they seem to do ... just straight up gambling in the absence of anyone having a fucking clue what the toddler in the White House is going to do. Cool.

Why would it apply anyone on SCOTUS? They are doing EXACTLY what they have been told to do: create an air of legitimacy for the Imperial Reign for Life of His Royal Highness Donald Trump, long may he reign, and God save the king.
I was just curious as to whether John Roberts had any question as to who "Daddy" is at this point - i.e., Trump or Koch / Leo? He obviously owes a lot to the Federalist Society / Heritage Foundation / Kochs. That said, I think he realizes when the Trump admin tells the USSC to fuck off directly in response to a ruling, the gig is officially up - so if he's ever going to go against Trump on anything of consequence from here on out, he'll need as many allies as possible - and Leo and Charles are about as strong as you're going to get.

Naah. They'll snatch him from his home, hogtie him, and toss him on a flight to El Salvador -- he'll be locked away in a prison there before the day is done.
Which is perfectly legal now, and there are no consequences to The Regime for doing so. True fact.
Does that apply to John Roberts, or just Charles and Leo? It would almost be worth it if John became a cautionary tale for ACB and the rest ...

Such bullshit ...
QuoteAt the heart of the issue is the North Carolina State Board of Election’s decision to count some 60,000 ballots cast by voters with allegedly incomplete registrations, along with several thousand more ballots by overseas voters who didn’t provide their photo ID with their absentee ballots or by overseas voters who never resided in North Carolina.
Per the appeals court’s ruling, the roughly 60,000 voters with incomplete voter registrations will be given 15 days to fix their ballots, as will military and overseas voters who did not provide proper photo ID. Ballots cast by North Carolina residents who live overseas but have never lived in the state will not be counted.
Dissenting from his Republican colleagues, Democratic judge Toby Hampson wrote that “changing the rules by which these lawful voters took part in our electoral process after the election to discard their otherwise valid votes in an attempt to alter the outcome of only one race among many on the ballot is directly counter to law, equity, and the Constitution.”
So they're just going to toss out 60,000 votes by voters with "allegedly incomplete registrations" unless they fix their ballots within 15 days?

Nope - baseline 10% tariffs across the board are still in place in addition to the 125% China tariffs. The press really fucking sucks these days. NPR does an okay job here:
