  1. I don't have any good interior shots of my RV online, but it looks exactly the same as this one.  The kids love having their own entire room in the rear bunkhouse, that's the last picture below.

Mine was pretty much the exact same layout just with a larger bunkhouse with slide. Very good layout. Exterior door direct into bathroom was also super nice feature.

  2. Man, that's too bad.  My kids absolutely love camping, and they love the camper.  Ever since The Coronas, we've had to cancel a couple of weekend trips that were planned to state parks, and so a few weeks ago they insisted that I go grab the trailer, park on the street alongside our house's corner lot, and do a stay-at-home camping night.  I even grabbed my little Weber charcoal grill and put it on the sidewalk, where we cooked our dinner and then roasted some s'mores afterward.  They loved it, we'll probably do it again this weekend for Memorial Day since we don't have reservations anywhere already.

I say kids, but really just my teenage son. He prefers hanging with his buds and just grumbles the whole weekend we were away. I kinda got tired of the hassle too. Prefer boating and getting back home at night. We never did long trips, just parks around Texas for the weekends. Toward the end, I just kept it at coast most of the time and would drive down to it to get away, that was actually pretty nice.

I’m going motor coach and enclosed trailer for corvette once kids are gone. :)
  3. Hope you get that 7.3! Really are cool trucks to own. Nothing like that diesel rattle when you start it up. You cannot but that anymore new. Keep it and baby it.

good diesel shop is Malone Diesel in dripping springs.

  4. More random stuff: large mat to roll out once you get set up. Don’t forget to put in awning if you leave and there is the slightest chance of rain. Folding table. Fan for outside. Splitter for water hose connection. Jack and tire iron suitable for trailer.

  5. I’ve sold mine and don’t plan on another until kids are gone. Kids actually interfered with our usage and we just stopped doing it once they got older.

Some things I’d suggest from my experience: good that you have the 50 to 30 dog bone, I’d also suggest a 50 to 15amp 110V dog bone. You obviously won’t be able to run much, but it is nice to be able to plug in for light, fan, etc. into a normal outlet. A giant Tupperware container with lid to store your poop hose. Good quality air compressor. Leveling blocks. These come in handy when you don’t get a perfectly flat area to setup. Some party lights for your canopy.

  6. Not necessarily, they are all good trucks, even a 6.0 that has been “fixed”. The 7.3 is probably the best diesel truck motor ever built in terms of reliability. You still see them regularly on the road. Ive owned two of them and wouldn’t hesitate buying one again. That said, those trucks are getting old now and the insides will be tired. The shit around that great motor is also getting old, some some minor repairs you should be prepared for. The hp and torque on the newer 6.7 absolutely crushes the 7.3.

  7. No 6.2. You’ve got 7.3, 6.0, 6.4, and 6.7. 6.0 is the turd you don’t want. 6.4 is good if it has been maintained. Major repair on anything after 7.3 has potential to be very expensive because cab has to be removed.

  8. I agree and think the modern 1/2 ton is good for 90% of time. A travel trailer is a whole different animal than a boat though. The wind load on them can shake a 3/4 ton easy whe it’s just right. A big bumper pull is on a 1/2 ton is scary as fuck at times.

  9. two notable searches on her phone and computer today:  F250 and Toyota Tundra engine replacement.  deep trouble. and not the John Lewis kind of trouble either.

Ha! Make sure you get the seats with massage feature.

One of those things is not like the other. Guarantee if you upgrade tundra motor to 800hp you will still be in a 3/4 ton within a year. First time you pull that trailer to the coast with wind or rain and you’ll be white-knuckling that thing at 45mph tops.
  10. Anyone got a rec on a 1500lb trailer jack brand?  Cheap one from Bass pro shop got water in it and rusted out until the handle snapped. Possible replacements? Etrailer or west marine?

  11. From my experience, when you allow your employer to direct deposit your paycheck, you also sign over the right for them to recall that amount from your bank account. The purpose is in case they make a mistake, they can take the money back.
I've known a few people to reject direct deposit because of this requirement, and instead opt for a paper paycheck to be mailed to their house.  They prefer to the delay over giving up the right of a potential clawback of funds. I think the risk of that is low, with most employers.

I once handed a paycheck to an employee that was for 800 hours of work instead of 80. I didn’t notice until I was reconciling the account at end of the month. The check had not been cashed and when I confronted the employee she still had it in her desk in the envelope, she never even noticed my mistake. Whew. I make it a habit to thumb through and look at every paycheck now before I sign them.
  12. I can’t speak to your father’s specific condition. But my father in law was on some pretty heavy antibiotics with a picc line to kill some sort of blood infection and the antibiotics killed his kidneys. He was on dialysis the rest of his life because of it. Not a dr, and not saying that will happen, but may want to ask about potential pitfalls of his treatment.

  13. Kindle Unlimited series I really enjoyed and hadn’t seen mention of is Chronicles of an Imperial Legionary Officer series by Marc Alan Edelheit. 5 books in series so far. Think Roman legion meets Lord of the Rings
