It been discussed ad nauseam, but this game people are putting drops on him that are just ridiculous.

while there might've been only one official drop, I still expect an elite receiver to catch a deflected ball that hits him in both hands and catch a deep ball that bounces off his chest.  Worthy's big problem is he always lets the ball get to his chest, he is not a natural at using his hands to catch.  What separates him from the best of the best imo.

Same here…but, for the life of me, I’m trying to figure out why, with the high quality of OL players we have, we are unable to get 1,2,3 yards when we get near the goal line.  I understand linebackers piling/jamming the line, but are we not creating space for the RB?  How about spreading the line?  Whatever we are doing is not working…..against ou, Houston, and now BYU, we’ve seemed to forget how to get a few yards…guess teams are defending us differently, so obviously adjustments need to be made.  I don’t get it.

Watch Conner on the 4th down attempt after Brooks was pushed out at the 1.  If he actually gets low and drives his man (who he outweighs by at least 50 lbs) backwards Brooks probably scores.

Now, one could make the argument, why are we running to the left side of the line when we know Conner is a poor run blocker and Campbell and Jones are much better at moving their man off the line.  But who are we to question the genius play caller?

  3. Yeah that guard pull play action needs to be ripped out of the playbook. It has resulted in more sacks than any other look, especially when you’re asking an oaf like Conner to make it over in time to a DE or blitzing LB

  4.  Murphy has a hell of an arm, no doubt about it. That was pretty obvious in the spring game. Whether he's got the acumen and accuracy to make the throws he needs to make is another matter altogether.
The HC has to get up the OC's ass and make sure we've got the right calls planned for Murphy, and he (the HC) needs to get up the DC's ass and make it crystal clear to him that the D has to step it up, hugely.

Do you happen to know who calls plays?

  5. I’ve also heard some chatter about a dying Pacific hurricane being pulled into Texas in the middle of the month. You can see that at the end of this 10 day model. It’s too early to know for sure, but that would bring a lot of rain to some places of Texas. A similar thing happened in 1998. I lived in San Marcos at the time and we got 24 inches of rain in about 17 hours.

I was just 10 years old, but my family helped evacuate a bunch of horses from the stable we kept ours at away from onion creek. Another place down the road didn’t move all theirs and some drowned in their pens.
  6. I've always wondered what the "Management" degree was for and why one would opt for that in undergrad. I took some management classes in undergrad and in grad school and still have no idea. I would assume it would be to set someone up to be a manager out of school, but I think that rarely happens, right?

Yeah it seems pretty anachronistic at this point. A relic of a bygone era when you’d work for the same company for 30 years.

The September pause was already priced in before yesterday's announcement. The market prices in information when it is received, and 99% of the market believed there was going to be a pause a month ago. The market prediction has never been wrong.

So the three new pieces of information were priced in yesterday/today.

    New pieces of information were

    1. 12 of 19 Fed members believe there should be another rake hike in 2023

    2. The first rate cut on the dot plot was pushed back from May to July 2024

    4. The number of projected rate cuts for 2024 on dot plot went from 4 to 2

So the bond market digested the hawkish pause, and said rates will most likely be higher for longer, and make their bets accordingly

    great, thanks for the explanation

How do you attack the 335 tite effectively? Feels like you have to be able to attack the edges with wide/outside zone and be able to play action off of that. It takes patience and precise execution
We’ve been average at best at getting much push in the run game and ewers is still inconsistent in his delivery so we’re often in 3rd and long where the flyover defense is at its best

Dominick McKinley HUDL for anyone who hasn't seen it yet:

    https://www.hudl.com/video/3/15175017/637aa82b2aa6660908a67108

The young man is freakishly fast and quick for his size. I've heard rumors on here that he doesn't really love football all that much and is just maybe too nice of a kid. That said, we had a similar deal with Malik and Okam (at least at first with Okam) and they turned out well for us. Based on the first play alone on McKinley's HUDL (the pick six), I'd give my middle nut to get him to Texas. May have to throw a few more bucks into the Texas One Fund after seeing that interception and return

IDK, that play at 1:39 where he ran down field 60 yards doesn't give off 'I don't like football' vibes to me

Does the market give a fuck that student loan payments are going to kick in soon? A lot of people are going to be in for a shock when their new payment amounts start at the new interest rates.

aren't student interest loan rates fixed?  Why would they go up?

  11. Don't give up on this summer yet- supposed to be wetter and milder. Ha.  Haha.  Hahaha.
Nationwide prices have started to rebound the last couple months and the projections (again, nationwide) are up 5% this year.  Take that FWIW, even if not Austin specific.  Rates easing down would also help. I'd target March- May of 2024 at least to hold onto.  Should get some appreciation.  Rates should be better. That should kick off more appreciation.
That's a guess based upon some national statistics, people I think are smart, and trying to read my own dusty crystal ball. I'm sure there are some more doomish on here than that. And some probably more optimisitc.

Thanks man. Realistically we wouldn’t be doing this until for 2-3 more years if we’re being honest with ourselves, but when the heat index is 115 you start day dreaming about gtfoing.
Whenever we do pull the trigger I know who we’ll be working with on the next mortgage.

  12. when do we think house prices will start going back in the Austin metro?  We bought only a year ago in West Buda (thanks Wulaw), and it is quite nice and we've enjoyed living here so far...but idk if either of us can take too many more summers around here.  This is all quite hypothetical at this point, but if we were to sell right now we would lose money, seeing how we bought right before the rates turned everything over.  Just wondering how long the experts around here think we have before we start to see things go up modestly.  I'm sure rates going back down is a big part to play.

  13. I don't know if it has already been brought up, but I think dating apps make up a large part of the problem for younger generations.  I am very thankful I never had to deal with them.  They encourage only giving somebody a cursory glance before making a decision.  It is more like a job interview process than a romantic initiation.  Interactions are so transactional and disposable if you don't stand out immediately you get no matches, which would really hurt someone who might be physically unremarkable but has a lot to offer in the personality/smarts department.

I know they have worked for people, but I just feel like it is overall dehumanizing and antithetical to how humans have been finding mates for centuries.

  14. I personally don't think this will amount to that much.  Frankly I think too many people are addicted (myself included) and there won't be a large drop off of people who have the willpower to stay away just bc they have to use a worse mobile app.
