Holy shit, is that Kristi Noem? She looks fucking hideous. Like the 100 year old demon inside her is taking over the physical form.

Mar-a-Lago Face. It's a thing. Her, Laura Loomer, Matt Gaetz, Lara Trump, Kimberly Guilfoyle, etc. Definitely one of the weirder things to come out of MAGA and that's saying something.

We took a hard left turn and are spending July in San Miguel de Allende. Heavily considering an early retirement to Mexico in 3.5 years. The last 7 months of overcoming long covid, the election, in-laws both dying and now the last 3 weeks just the beginning of the next 4 years has taken a toll. Not sure if it’s for us but we are going to find out. Thinking combo of PV (been a bunch) and San Miguel de Allende as the base with lots of travel baked in. Looks like we can live 3 levels higher at 3 levels below in terms of cost. So fuck it let’s explore and get this going.

Mexico is a couple steps ahead of the US on the antidemocratic front (we are going to get there), but if we're all doomed to that you might as well get the best bang for your buck

  3. The NIH funding rollbacks, beyond being another illegal breach of existing contract and Congressional appropriations, is going to be absolutely devastating. And it's going to be felt in plenty of red states - GA, NC, TX, OH, etc. Just phenomenally stupid and will kill.

I just came to a realization...

Donald Trump has never beaten a man in a Presidential race.

Dear women, you had a chance to shut the Orange Leopard down twice, but you can't seem to vote for your own interests.

Women seemed to complain about DEI the most. It seemed like women (especially the majority) thought DEI was code for Lesbian Black Woman (hell, at one point I wasn't so sure that wasnt the case, because all of the CDOs and Heads of Diversity I interacted with were exactly that, but I digress.)

Of all the faces that I would think would be wise enough not to invite a leopard BACK into their house, it's the woman voting against her own self interest face getting chewed on the most.

"You just grab'em by the pussy."

I agree. Kamala Harris would have won like 400 EVs if the election was held among women so let's blame them. They just didn't do enough to pull this country out of a nose dive piloted almost exclusively by men. It would be totally unreasonable to expect men to do anything about it. Great post. We should totally play this game.

  5. I have been sick with respiratory illnesses twice in the past two months, once in December, getting over another now. That's never happened to me. My wife came down with something a couple weeks ago. Hit her pretty hard. She actually went to an urgent care and tested negative for both flu and COVID. All three instances we never passed anything to one another.

    Rough season for sure.

It makes sense if there won't be any future elections in which to interfere.

There will be elections, but any state that goes GOP for governor, SOS, or on the Supreme Court is never going back at this point. Look at NC, the GOP retook the state Supreme Court and is now in the process of throwing out votes to give a Republican a seat they lost. This is why the Democratic holds in the 2022 midterms were so important.

Hold key Governor, AG, SOS, and Supreme Court positions in WI, MI, PA, AZ, and NV in 2026 and you live to fight another day. The path to 270 at least exists in 2028. Lost them and it's over.

  7. Trump is a symptom, not a disease. Always has been. We voted for this.

Beyond that most direct explanation, American Christianity and oligarchs have cooperated on the basis of their shared interest in subjugating the broader nation at multiple points throughout American history, we're just living in the modern adaptation of that.

I don’t know who is leading this party, but Schumer needs to go.

Chanting “we will win” to cameras along side a near 90 year old Maxine Waters is the Dems problem. That does absolutely nothing and its infuriating.

I understand they lack political power right now but absolutely agree with you.

They should be at the steps at not one but every federal agency getting cameras and smartphones focused on them, shouting about the security of Americans personal data and the unchecked actions of a man no one voted for. Fuck it, they should get out on TikTok and start accusing Elon of stealing people's tax refunds and having sex with his little college goons because it can't be proven wrong and will spread like wildfire.

They should constantly be referring to Elon as President Musk to antagonize the child in office and drive a wedge between them. They should be flooding the White House every day with requests to schedule a meeting with President Musk.

They should be going out all over the country and highlighting the sick kids and seniors who can no longer afford medication because of Trump's rollback of Medicare/Medicaid drug pricing caps. They should be highlighting important infrastructure projects, health initiatives, etc. that are now derailed due to federal reviews. Companies that stand to be devastated by tarrifs. They should be drawing attention to the shocking draining of a reservoir in CA that is going to turbofuck agriculture in the summer. All the things that touch people's lives.

And they should be suing the everloving shit out of the Trump administration. I know this doesn't really matter because they're clearly not going to listen to the courts but it's important to fight on that front. Make them go through discovery and depositions and get everything on the record. Make GOP judges support this.

These fucking idiots have no idea that politicizing trans bodies is politicizing all women’s bodies. You think you’re free from suspicion, harassment, and inspection. Shit girl, think again. You thought the patriarchy was bad before, give them an inch to police my body, they will come for you as well. It ain’t just abortion, its inspection, hormone checks, fuck you let them go all the way it’s back to husband consent to medical procedures of any kind, oh and permission for youth marriage like what’s on the docket in one of the states for 17 year olds where the groom is in the military. You fucking people are so god damn dense. Owning women’s bodies and our/their rights is the goal, not just policing trans women.

Assaults on abortion rights, trans rights, etc. have always been about subjugation of women. There is no other logical conclusion. To suggest otherwise is willful ignorance, outright bad faith, or alarming stupidity.

  11. The US taking over Gaza to turn it into a resort is the second thing from this admin I didn't have on my bingo card. Again, maybe that's on me.

I don't think Gaza protest votes swung the election, but I do hope they are happy.

Ever have family or friends not use your services?  That would piss me off but most of my realtor friends say more often than not their SOI will use other people.

what is the #1 reason or excuse they use?

Not mixing business and family relationships/friendships is a pretty good general rule.

My goodness. Remember when Trump got on Truth social and said he was sending the military into California to turn the water back or whatever?
I thought that was just some crazy talk. However, it seems to have had a grain of “Truth”, as it were.

It appears the Army Corps of Engineers was ordered by an appointee to drain full reservoirs into flooded farmland without telling anyone or coordinating anything, and sent farmers, local politicians and others into a scramble to stop it before it destroyed equipment and crops.

For the record, Tulare County voted 60-40 for Trump.

    the best people

It remains to be seen whether their incompetence will ultimately enhance or mitigate the disaster, but it is clear we're not dealing with a competent bunch (shocker)

Business Employment Dynamics report in today.  It's where they look at what was reported 12 months ago and then compare to what actually happened when they get the data in.

The birth death model added 653,000 jobs.   The actual figure was a loss of -163,000.  Good job fella's good job. Net everything out and here's what happened:

April 108k jobs reported should have actually been 51k

May- 216k jobs reported should have been 159k reported

June- 118k reported should have been 61k

Total for the quarter:  442k reported, 271k actual.  This was a fucking fiasco.  Heads should roll.  That's probably difference in 1/2 a point (at least) in mortgages if we were getting honest and accurate numbers then vs what was reported.

By the way- inflation the numbers are wrong too.  something like 40% of the inflation figure for shelter is owners equivalent rent. This is an absurd measurement of shelter costs. You basically ask someone who owns and lives in their house- "how much would you rent this place out for" and they sample that and average it out and get a figure. It has NOTHING to do with actual rental prices or the market- it's me asking yall to pull a number out of your ass and tell me what it would rent for.  Last month- shelter was negative in the real world- but I bet we come in at 3.5% or something dumb like that.  This one simple trick, getting honest and accurate numbers, would make a huge difference in where we are at right now.  So frustrating and infuriating.

I really do hate the owner equivalent rent stat. It's been a pet wonky rant of mine for a while. CPI absolutely lags on rents. Private sector data shows rents have been more or less flat nationally (some markets up, some down, based mostly on how much of a supply surge has been experienced locally) for like 18 months. It's only now just starting to tick up meaningfully above 0.0 and probably won't really ramp up until we get toward the end of this year.

You want to show me a rural area of any state where that’s not the case?  At least in WA and OR the urban areas can outvote the rurals on statewide elections. Unlike Texas and the south.

Also worth noting that at least in WA, the I-5 corridor from Olympia to the Canadian border, including areas outside the Seattle MSA, is pretty blue; as is the Olympic peninsula (weighted toward the eastern portion but that's where people live). Bellingham, Kitsap County, Mt Vernon, Olympia, Port Angeles, etc. Tertiary cities that pad the margin. Seattle MSA sets the floor as the blue state even if everywhere else went red but it's the rest of Western WA that cancels out the rural areas and makes it really blue. Obviously micro level the trend is still cities = blue, rurals = red, and that's true in eastern WA too.

South of Olympia on I-5 until Vancouver is basically the south with more white people in my limited experience lol
