  1. She certainly wasn't strapped for cash. It's too bad that she felt like she had to hide her problems, but maybe it was too hard to shoulder the pain by buckling down and just zipping on through life - some people don't have that whole "come through in the clutch" coping mechanism in the bag.

You left out that her skin felt like dead leather upon discovery

  2. Texas has only one sticker for registration and inspection so there is an option online for registered Texas cars out of state that you can receive your renewed registration sticker out of state. When you return to Texas, you have to get your car inspected....well that what it’s intended for. I returned to Texas in January and my registration didn’t expire until June. Since there’s only one sticker now, every place said that I wasn’t required to get an inspection until June. The state needs to resolve that issue.

  3. Out of pure circumstance, I ate at the Salt Lick by Dell Diamond for lunch on Saturday after kids baseball in the morning.
It actually wasn't terrible.  I feel dirty.

My dad and I got awful food poisoning there back in 09. Haven’t been back to any Salt Lick since.
  4. Amazon has got to get their counterfeit problem under control if they really want to take over retail. Even ordering directly from Amazon they have too many fakes with the same SKU thrown in their product bins. That should be a simple fix, but it is still a huge problem.

    Some examples:

Counterfeit pampers products and Gillette products are rampant. There’s a reason why they refund some items with no questions asked.

Edit: ^ y’all beat me to it about Pampers, especially their shitty wipes(pun intended)

  5. Okay, this is getting super sketchy.
I've told y'all SHE HAAAAAAATES HIM and I've never had an ounce of sympathy for her because she made her big orange baboon nest and now she has to live it in.
But I'm kind of worried about what's happened to her.
I'm afraid he's got her stuffed and perched in a rocking chair in Mary Todd's clothes in the Lincoln Bedroom.

The Russians “took care of the problem”.

  7. Flood would be a separate policy, not an endorsement to a HO policy.  Is this an endorsement for water discharges?

It’s defined as coverage provided for deterioration, wet rot or dry caused by continuous or repeated seepage or leakage of water or steam from a heating, air conditioning or automatic fire protective sprinkler system, household appliance or plumbing system.

    Thanks
  8. Hello, All.

We’re in the process of getting a new home built and our State Farm rep forwarded us reference to their Water Damage and Foundation Endorsements.

They stated that they make the homeowner aware of these endorsements at the start of a policy because if the policy does not begin with the endorsements, they cannot be added at a later date. We can elect to have either or both endorsements on the prospective State Farm Homeowners policy.

We’re building in Dallas proper and it isn’t a flood zone or the area isn’t flood prone that I know of. This would probably be a no-brainer in Houston though.

Anyone have experience with this? Any advice or recs?

    Thanks

  9. My dad retired for a 2nd Time and just relaxes and hang out. No major hobbies but to try to tackle that goddamn clutter of a garage.

My FIL retired in 1998 but my MIL wouldn’t let him just retire so he works at a high school as an in-school suspension teacher/babysitter and umpires baseball games. He’s getting old and tired but the MIL worries that he’ll just sit in his chair and live a slow death.

I personally would retire to a big city with a vibrant city life, walkable areas, events and will act like a 20-something again to keep me going. I would downsize everything. Sitting stagnant can kill you.

  10. Thanks for the advice y’all, esp Brat.

This isn’t our forever house(we’ll not at least planned) but we will take some of the accessibility issues into effect.

We unfortunately won’t have a fireplace since it’s a hybrid house/townhome and we’ll be on a zero-lot line but will have a few feet btwn houses and 2X6 exterior walls are standard. It’s in urban Dallas.

We’ll have a small yard but will extend the concrete pad out and maybe get the exposed aggregate concrete.

We will douse the house(interior and exterior) with outlets, already planned.

No skimping on the paint for sure.

Will video the completed frame and probably will hire a 2nd third-party inspector even though the builder already provides one.

Will insulate the garage, make sure the attic is fully insulated and decked for storage. May ask the builder to install spare Sheetrock up there as well.

Will play the lottery tonight, Brat!

Lots to think about but y’all have been a big help.
