Ya @Bodacious Bevo had it. Nothing new except staff suggestions which we mostly knew

Seems if he can't get Pantoni, Carrington could carry the torch. Especially with UM at the helm. Also, gotta be a lot of good strength and conditioning coaches out there with a healthy budget to shop. And with practice facility upgrades, significant control of the program, etc., hard to see the downside. Plus the 60-98mm other reasons.

Honestly all we need to hear is....nothing. Nothing is good, quiet is good. Burger talk is good. Let me find some drunken clarity and lay it out.

-If Urban had said no, it would be out there from multiple people, damn near universal. Hell probably even a contract extension with fox

-Before he even says no, we would have heard serious interest in other candidates because there is NO way CDC will allow us to look like the morons that swung and missed AGAIN. No way will he let us look like the laughing stock. We won’t be caught flat footed that’s for DAMN sure

-meetings have happened and those people involved in the meetings allowed this information to be made public. Texas admin would not let that info be public if it would cost them UM, so that means UM is ok with that information being public

-UM would not like that information to be public, that he was meeting big brass over a job that is not currently open, if he was not SERIOUSLY considering it. As much as it might be a fuck you to Tom. No way he’s just wasting his time, Texas time and ruining future job prospects just to fuck with Tom

-Shelly would have probably shot something down by now but that is certainly not happening. If anyone was going to scuttle this, I thought it would be her

-Texas might have a quiet yes, but they don’t have a no. Sure it might be a maybe currently but when you look at the time line and when this has started a lot of those big questions should be checked off by now. Really the only hold ups I can see at this point are family (don’t think that’s an issue), health (real concern but I think that would have really been considered by now), optics (lol fuck you bucknuts not an issue), so really the only hold up I can see is staff

-we all know the Italian mafia he has but this is UM, he’s a pipe hitting mother fucker. Staff won’t be a problem to get some absolute studs. That said I’m sure he really wants his guys to really feel comfortable in this situation. Having some of those guys locked in really may be the hold up at this point (he may want more than just a nod and wink deal, at least a handshake) because it adds so many extra moving parts

-im going to pour a drink, refresh this thread, try to block out the noise especially from the people that want it scuttled, and wait for Herman to get fired. Because we aren’t going to get any clarity till we either hear a no, or Tom gets fired, we don’t hear a yes and we hear a lot more concrete names

Let's not forget the between 60 - 98 million motivating reasons. I don't give a daaaaaamn how much you've already got. If you can earn that in 5-7 years, you do.

I think he's basically referencing that his work gets taken and posted here regularly for free.  I can't argue with that.  Nonetheless he doesn't seem to be arguing where the credit lies on this.

Honestly though, how much "work" is involved with hearing something from some anonymous sauce and posting part of it cryptically on a website?

I’m not from the future, that’s impossible. it’s a character from a movie. how old are you?

Can confirm. The only thing about the future he knows is he'll have his fist elbow deep in his ass by mid next week.

A few notes to pass along...

    a. I spoke with a TV executive today with some insight into Urban Meyer's situation from a Fox perspective. Basically, it's the same information that everyone already knows, which is that the ball is in Urban Meyer's court and that it will simply come down to how Meyer's family feels about the idea of him taking another job that potentially puts his health at risk. Per this source...

    1. Urban hasn't told Fox anything yet.
    2. If any job is ever going to tempt Meyer back into coaching, it'll be Texas. I was told his interest is significant and that those in the TV industry have known that this was a possibility for months.

    b. We mentioned yesterday that there was scuttlebutt of Meyer looking for a deal worth more than the one that Jimbo Fisher signed at Texas A&M. Although we haven't locked down the years attached to the offer, there were whispers of an offer of $12 million per year is in Urban's hands. Again, we're trying to lock down specifics before "officially" reporting it, but in the name of sharing the whispers that we're hearing.... there ya go.

I asked one high-level Texas administrator tonight about the number and I was told that the number was shocking and was met with a huge amount of disbelief.

In talking to Texas administrators prior to this week, there's no doubt in my mind that a 10 year contract would normally be a non-starter for those in charge of approving contracts, so it's possible that the $12 million per year number (which is nearly $3 million more than Nick Saban is making this year at Alabama), is an attempted middle ground in terms of building a total compensation package that ticks all the boxes for Meyer without causing Texas officials to make a deal they have reservations about.

    c. On the whole, I've never seen such internal discipline from the Texas side of things as I have in the last week or so with regards to anything involving Meyer. Hell, it's possible that the administrator I communicated with tonight is part of the "Lips Are Sealed" Club and those involved simply aren't going to do anything that so much as threatens this deal by a hair.

    d. For all of the talk about BMDs and cooks in the kitchen, the sense I get is that Chris Del Conte is very much steering the ship. One person I spoke with earlier today said that it's not quite like Steve Patterson shutting everyone out except his inner circle of one back in 2013, but it's less of a joint affair as the pursuit of Tom Herman proved to be.

So 5 for 12 was our opening bid. There was some sort of counter, and now we're pushing 7 for 14. Proud of our boosters and administration if true, no matter the outcome. Nuts. On. The. Table.
