  1. If you had told me Friday night that tOSU would score only 14 points, I probably would have bet my hat, ass, and suitcase on Texas.

    It's a damned good thing, because I'd be a bareheaded, no-cheeks, empty-handed fucker.

At least I still have a hat and a suitcase...

Bootleg fake right  rolls left with Baxter or Wisner with a feign engagement with a pitch option. I'll have to look closer but it appeared 7 guys were inside box or to the right.

Am I obsessed with bootlegs? Yes, blame James Brown.

It looked to me like there were 5 on or a half-step back in the middle, two more backer-types a step or two back, in the  middle, and two dbacks on each side, also close to the four receivers. Figgered the receivers could delay the guys covering them enough to give Arch and CJ (or Wisner) at least a step or two.

Of course, if it failed, you were trying too hard to be cute, but if (when) the sneak failed, your team just didn't execute the sneak.

  3. With the 5 on 3 lineup in the middle, 10-Wedge is never going to make it.

I was thinking (especially after the earlier example) that the brilliant play call would have McJaggerson and Endries assault the guys guarding them, and Arch would roll left with Baxter out front and keep or throw it depending on how close the  one or two defender would come.

I appreciate the desire to man up and stuff it down their throats, but 5 on 3 in the middle pretty much says Nope.

Yeah.  Against that defense, if I was going up the middle I would have used Baxter.  Arch is for going off tackle or outside in that situation.

Years back, Arky had a goal line specialty back who was  high-jump track guy. With the D-line going low, the O-line did, too, and the ball carrier went up and over, six feet high... not a hurdle, but a high jump. Seemed to work pretty well.

I think the athletic department should issue Graham Harmon credentials for these press conferences.  Can't be any worse than Kurt Bohls and Cedric Golden.

This is an excellent idea. After all, the name of the game is Entertainment, and even Surly has to admit Graham would be an entertaining step up.

You'd notice that's not actually a pillow, if it were fully erect inflated.

    No, he's genuinely cunty.

Either I've not noticed it before (entirely likely), or we have a new version of intensive porpoises for posterity. For the unaware, the kids are young goats, the gloves made from their skin are used for handling things carefully.

    I don't listen to Finebaum...

Finebaum has decent takes, for the most part, and like Josh Pate, he's an old radio guy. Like Pate, he has some good stuff and some really horrible bullshit in his schtick. If I do stumble into his show, the "call-in" segment is a sign to dump that shit in a hurry.

I'm just going by the times I've listened to him. You know how it is. People love to hedge their bets by talking about both sides of something, so they can always later say they were right.

One of the elements of Pate's shows is that he's mostly pretty open about the possibilities of being wrong... as he says "I only want the credit, none of the blame."
