Thank you for posting this. I've never heard of this man before reading the linked Wikipedia page. After reading that I would put him at the top of the lists of bad asses not just from Texas but anywhere.

Here is an excerpt from his time in Vietnam:

The doctor was about to zip up the body bag when Benavidez spat in his face, alerting the doctor that he was alive.[3] (see medal citation below)

The six-hour battle left Benavidez with seven major gunshot wounds, twenty-eight shrapnel holes, and both his arms were slashed by a bayonet. He had shrapnel in his head, scalp, shoulder, buttocks, feet, and legs, his right lung was destroyed, and he had injuries to his mouth and back of his head from being clubbed with a rifle butt. A bullet shot from an AK-47 entered his back and exited just beneath his heart.

Oh did I mention that these injuries occurred after he heard that a 12 man patrol was surrounded by over 1000 NVA and volunteered to assist arriving armed with his medical bag and a knife?

Oh and this is after stepping on a landmine in 1965 and going against doctors orders (who thought him to be permanently paralyzed) to teach himself to walk again.

Some men are just made of something different. RIP Master Sergeant.

Fox News Radio (xm) just reported that Pruitt tried to get sirens on his car to speed through traffic and reassigned the staffer who told him that was not allowed.

Why 24hr security? The EPA chief isn't even a real Cabinet position, so I don't think he is even remotely in the chain of succession.

Have you seen what the Russians do to people that stop being useful?

24 hour security detail might be the smartest thing he has done since taking over the EPA.

Also did he reassign the staffer who told him he couldn't have a light bar to food taster? That's probably a prudent next step.

lol I'm aware, just letting you know how pathetic it is to be begging for a paid skank to recount her details of the presidents pee-pee.

It would be like if dudes on the right were begging Monica Lowinski to describe how Slick Willy tastes. Strait as a circle.

Would it be more or less pathetic than saying this in a Republican presidential primary debate?

"I have to say this, he hit my hands. Nobody has ever hit my hands. I’ve never heard of this one. Look at those hands. Are they small hands? And he referred to my hands if they’re small, something else must be small," he said. "I guarantee you there’s no problem. I guarantee you.”

Yup. When I was growing up in Temple there was an elderly man named "Mr. Wallace" who lived two houses down. He was nice enough, but one day I was over there picking some plums off his trees (which he invited me to do) and his wife brought me inside for some ice-cold lemonade. While inside, Mr. Wallace started showing me various pistols and rifles that he had placed around the house, like under the cushions in his sofa in the living room.  He was saying things like "if they break in through this window, I can grab this one and shoot them. If they come in through this door I can grab this one ..."   etc.... Mind you, this was in a quiet residential neighborhood IN TEMPLE in 1974.  I was only about 12 years old but I was thinking "what is this crazy old man talking about? Who, exactly, is the "they" that he thinks is going to bust into his house?" 44 years later, the Mr. Wallaces of the world are cheering for Donald Trump.

I really thought that story was headed somewhere else after Mrs Wallace invited you inside for some "ice cold lemonade"

my great suspicion is this mentality was not created by rush, fox news, &c.  it has existed for centuries in a subset of our population.  what is new is those creeps and their rooskie overlords figuring out how to tap into the craziness.  i've seen exactly what we are describing all my long life.  you just have to know where to look and realize what it means.

We will need to confirm with Army Brat if this has indeed been going on for centuries. I can only comment on the last few decades.

I think you’re right, but um, he’s talking about the midterms.  Haven’t they already had the primary?  I guess he is planning to write in Roy Moore.

Exactly. Goes back to my fat and lazy comment earlier. A vast majority of Americans don't know nor do they care to educate themselves about politics or anything really.

The likely result in Oklahoma will be that when the midterms rill around this year and he realizes that it's the incumbent who screwed him and his fellow teachers over v the damn librul Democrat, he will still vote R.

As an aside, why in the fuck do we allow judges to run as a member of a political party?

Am I misreading this or is this Okie saying that if the Republican lawmakers don't fix this, he will punish them by voting for Republicans?

He's saying if the Republicans in office don't fix it, then if another Republican runs he will vote against the incumbent.

  8. hhFMiVB.jpgI agree with the replies above but would also add that I believe the tribalism problem could be solved if the population were to really educate and keep themselves current on issues, the impact on themselves, the country, and the world as well.

Unfortunately we have grown fat and lazy and I don't see that changing.

trump voting soy farmer on NPR this morning (paraphrasing): I hope Trump doesn't put the tariff situation on the backs of farmers.  I hope his negotiating strategy and end goal includes us.

That's the problem.  They don't realize he has no strategy and has no end goal.  We are a year and a half in.  They need to take their blinders off.  They need to understand they were swindled by a carnival barker.

It's not just Trump it's the whole party over country and at this point party over self mentality that Rush, Fox News, etc have created.

I saw an interview yesterday with a teacher from Oklahoma who was protesting for raises and increased funding for students etc. He said that he has worked at Subway and Braums and as a cashier in addition to his teaching job to send his kid to college. When asked what his message is to lawmakers he replied "they need to work something out because midterms are coming and it they don't fix this they could run a fencepost with an R after their name and I would vote for them"

Have you all tried the various nasal rinse/neti pot/navage?

I've been using the sinus rinse for a few years. I realized, for myself, that everything I do helps about 10%.

Allergy shots help 10%. Allergy drugs help 10%. Nasal rinse helps 10%

While it's gross, the sinus rinse is easy and cheap.

The navage was a life saver. The green oysters that come out are gross but definitely worth it.

    Any recommendations for eye drops?

  12. NRA still trying to figure out their angle here to sell more guns. Arm everyone?

In all seriousness, if an officer has a malfunction with their camera or other recording equipment, they should immediately face an unpaid suspension. If it happens and there is an injury or death of a suspect then they need criminal charges. There is no reason for an officer to be on duty with a weapon and not a camera.  These would not go out if their weapon was missing or didn't work, nor would they if their vehicle were unsafe or inoperable.

If they end up in jail they need to go to gen pop.

    Jim Carrey is looney tunes.

You should watch the Jim and Andy documentary on Netflix. Shows behind the scenes footage of the filming of Man on the Moon. There is method acting, and there is fucking impossible to work with bonkers. Jim is the latter. Also can you imagine he and Jenny McCarthy's anti vaxer ass together. Must have been like the asylum in cuckoo's best.

I've settled probably 150+ tort lawsuits and I've never had a client sign the release. No one does this, at least in insurance defense. Anyone I name in the settlement contract can assert it, regardless of who paid the settlement.

True story, one of my best friends (a Texas alum) is marrying a former OU cheerleader from 10+ years back. The first time I met his fiancee, I asked her about the tranny cheerleader. She didn't know who I was talking about so I showed her pics from shaggy. We all laughed, but I don't think she found it all that funny. I think she felt sorry for the tranny.

    Oh, well. Fuck OU.

    Was she the tranny
