Between 1961 and 1966 – the golden age of slot cars – there were around 3,000 commercial slot tracks built in hobby shops and corner stores across the U.S., with an additional 200 in Europe. Kids could go to their local raceway and pay about $2.00 for an hour of racing on tracks that often filled the room with twists, turns, and as many as eight racing lanes. One company, American Model Car Raceways, even made a business traveling the country to build tracks. Their biggest, nicknamed “The Purple Mile,” was 220’ long.http://mentalfloss.com/article/27229/little-engines-could-brief-history-slot-cars

"She's The One" was my first thought.
Also would have thought at least ONE of Knopfler's soundtracks would have made the list: Pick one. Local Hero, Last Exit to Brooklyn, Cal, or The Princess Bride.
Also, like all Cameron Crowe movies, I enjoyed the soundtrack for "Elizabethtown".
Local Hero is great. I think that was his first film score. Underrated movie too.

Looks like this focuses on his early years with Taupin so I'm in.

Does that dog have any eligibility left? We could use a slot receiver.

I agree with the sentiment to some extent. But these are not the best examples.
There are a whole lot of TS songs where she has the sole writing credit, including a lot of big hits. And you could strip all the production out of some of those songs and IMO make them much better (see the Allison Krause and Vince Gill version of "Red" from the CMAs for proof of this). The girl is a real talent and would have succeeded with other producers, co-writers, etc.
Also have to point out that a large number of the "real" artists we all love from the last 5 years all work with the same producer (Dave Cobb). That includes Isbell, Brandi Carlisle, and Sturgill (on the better of his albums). So it is not like flashy artists like TS are the only ones benefiting from talented producers who make their work better.
As for Lucinda, she won grammys for Car Wheels on a Gravel Road and for Passionate Kisses. What else has she done that is particularly worthy of recognition. Steve and Dwight probably should have won more than they have, but both are hurt by the fact that by far their best work was on debut albums when nobody knew who they were.
Also see Ryan Adams track-by-track cover of Taylor Swift’s 1989.

Schitts Creek is fantastic! EW, David!
It’s also interesting when you think about the fact the father and son are father and son in real life as well.
Funny as shit. Catherine O'Hara is genius.

Speaking of old bikes.. After years of hibernation I dusted off my 2002 Bianchi Grizzly in the hopes to start riding again. It looks just about like this except mine came with a celeste saddle as well.
Specs: https://www.bikepedia.com/QuickBike/BikeSpecs.aspx?item=37559
It turns out in its slumber MTN bikes have completely evolved. And the fork is shot and can't get parts to rebuild, yada yada. Rockshox makes a recon silver tk that'll fit, but it's heavier and likely a step down from the Marzocci it would replace. Long story short, I was advised I'd like riding even a modern budget HT more than this if I tried to fix it back up as a trail bike. I took that advice and after a bit of research ordered a new Giant Fathom 1 which looks to be a pretty decent bang-for-buck HT.
But now I'm trying to figure out what to do with the Bianchi. It was such a sweet bike in it's day, I'm not sure I'm ready to part with it. I was thinking if I put a rigid fork on it and some street tires it could serve as a tool around the hood, ride to the store kinda bike.
I'm also wondering if it's possible to replace the front DT with a single ring and run it as a 1x9, keeping the rear derailleur and cassette. Or is it not so simple?
Thoughts?
That’s a pretty nice frame. If the front ring is positioned correctly you should be able to run it as a single with the 9 spd.

Always enjoy seeing MCM public buildings. Visited Vietnam a while ago and loved Independence Palace. Built in the mid 60s.

I've never been a MCM guy, but I'd love to find a Maloof chair- Gorgeous and freaking comfortable.
Those rockers are sweet.

There was plenty of ugly stuff designed that is considered MCM, even by some of the famous designers. I do like stuff designed by iconic designers but some of my favorite pieces I've never been able to I.D.
I tend to gravitate to the warm side of modern design like Danish Modern. I like the warm look of teak and brass and don't care plastic and chrome pieces that became prevalent in the 70s. I look for pieces that define a space without dominating it.

That church is pretty cool. Wonder who designed it. I lived in Denton for 15 years before I became interested in architecture. After I moved I found out I had been living amongst a bunch of O'neil Ford structures. Even got married in one.
Those definitely look like early Eames Shell chairs. The earliest examples have rope embedded around the edges to give them a radius. Later the incorporated the radius in the mold.
