  1. Tender Smokehouse of Celina opened the Frisco location this week. Just had time for a quick lunch so only tried a few things. Moist brisket was very good. Potato Salad was good but I prefer more mustard. Mac n Cheese not good. Runny and soupy.
No beer yet but looks like they will have a nice bar once they get up and running fully.

  2. I need to get my hands on this.

Yeah, it’s pretty good. I was lucky enough to catch them on one of their good nights. Maybe the best rock n roll show I’ve ever seen.

  3. Very nice.  One weird thing is I had asthma (of an allergic origin I believe) as a kid.  It gives me this strange claustrophobia, where being winded is unusually uncomfortable, and most especially if there is any "close in" aspect, like the woods.  You can stick me in a box, no claustrophobia, but put me in there breathing hard and I probably freak out.
Road climbs don't tend to provoke it, but in the woods sometimes can.  I bet that wide open mountainside would be nice for avoiding the problem.
Anyway, here is a section of that trail I was complaining about:

I don't know about that specific section, but it looks like it's just the grass growing right up to the trail that makes it look deep.  In many cases, it's not.  In a couple of cases it made it look like there might be some cool, shallow-berm turns, but not really, the rut was deep enough to come pretty close to catching the inside, high pedal.
Certainly not impossible to ride, but a new skillset for sure.

I believe Frisco sold that piece of land to the PGA so the trail is not gonna be around much longer.

  4. Agree with having a guide. We were lucky enough to stay with a Vietnamese friends family who still have a house there somewhere between Saigon and Me Tho. We basically ended up going with them on their family vacation. I'm still not sure where some of the places we ended up were but we were the only Honkies almost everywhere we ended up.

We did a Mekong River tour out of Me Tho. Spent some time at Grandma's place somewhere around Go Cong close to the coast, and hung out in Can Tho. Took day trips to some beach that I still am not sure of the location, and Nui Ba Den (Black Lady Mountain) that is big with the locals.

On one of our day trips to Saigon we hit:

    Bing Tay Market-Huge indoor/outdoor market est. 1826

Reunification Pace-Very cool. Beautiful grounds and you can stroll through the whole palace on your own. In the basement the even had a shooting range and still had combat engagement maps from the war.

    General Post Office

    Notre Dame Cathedral

Finish up as the sun sets having a Martini on the rooftop bar at The Rex Hotel, where they had the daily press briefings during the war. Lots of heavy hitters used to get drunk there.
