  1. Westerberg's songs have always been what hooked with me the Replacements (and you kind of have to like them if you're from the Upper Midwest and have remotely discerning taste in music), and he was still writing some really great fucking songs here.
I don't care much for the production on anything after "Let It Be" (I swapped out all the original versions on "Tim" for the demos), but there are still really good songs in this time frame.  Even "All Shook Down" has it's moments.

When I saw them on tour for that album I heard what it could have/should have sounded like. Raw, noisy and powerful.

  2. They are out west with a lot of cool shit around and the weather is better out there.  East Texas and Golden Triangle win this for Texas easy.
South Texas is full of shit holes, but you are at least close to great hunting and Mexico plus the Mexican food.  East Texas sucks.

Lots of East TX is quite pretty. Pine forests and rolling hills. National Forests that I assume are still open for hunting. Caddo Lake. But, definitely had my fill of being Behind the Pine Curtain.

  3. How much are we paying her for this job?

    https://www.christianpost.com/news/paula-white-says-trump-wanted-to-build-crystal-cathedral-for-god-with-her-in-charge.html

When asked if White had divested her financial stake in the church by The New York Times, a White House spokesman said they would not comment. It was confirmed however that White would not be paid a salary.

“My sense is if she is leaving her church position and making a clean break that there would be no I.R.S. problem,” Wertheimer said. “If she is continuing in an official public role for the church while working in the White House that would cause a tax status problem as she would be using the church for political purposes.”

  4. I was vaguely aware that there had been a drop.  I didn't realize at all how severe it was, and I certainly didn't know the causes.
So yeah--I share your feeling on that.  Nascar is so out-of-mind for me that I didn't realize it was increasingly out-of-mind for a lot of other people, too.

Same here. Watching the TMS on tv. Never thought it would be that empty.

  5. This guy knows what he is talking about.  Eleuthera is amazing.  Its one of the further most eastern islands that has the Atlantic on one side and Caribbean on the other.  It's not for everyone.  No big party scene, no crowds, and 100's of miles of simple, clean pink sand beaches to explore.   Glass Window Bridge (google it) is amazing.   The most people we saw on any beach is maybe 10, often we were the only ones for hours.  And yes, you rent a car from a local for the day ($80.00) and go explore.  There is basically one road.  Amazing place to completely unplug.

Last time we went down there we stayed on Cat Island. Sounds very similar. No big resorts or ports. Miles of stunning deserted beaches. It was the ultimate “chill” vacation.

  6. “One of our most reliable sources of intel, Field McConnell, Marine reserve and host of the Abel Danger live show strongly suggested on today’s show that President Trump will be announcing his new running mate (not sure yet what’s up with Mike Pence and what they will tell people as to why he is no longer partnering with the President) but they implied that John F. Kennedy Jr. will be Trump’s wing man in the 2020 election.”f8897b8e79c5b1bf3e1ae760295cb228.jpg

  7. Sun came up it was another day
And the sun went down you were blown away
Why’d you let go of your guitar
Why’d you ever let it go that far
    Drunken Angel

Could’ve held on to that long smooth neck
Let your hand remember every fret
    Fingers touching each shiny string
But you let go of everything
    Drunken Angel
    Drunken Angel
    You’re on the other side
    Drunken Angel
    You’re on the other side

    Followers would cling to you
Hang around just to meet you
Some threw roses at your feet
And watch you pass out on the street
    Drunken Angel

Feed you and pay off all your debts
Kiss your brow taste your sweat
Write about your soul your guts
Criticize you and wish you luck
    Drunken Angel
    Drunken Angel
    You’re on the other side
    Drunken Angel
    You’re on the other side

Some kind of savior singing the blues
A derelict in your duct tape shoes
Your orphan clothes and your long dark hair
    Looking like you didn’t care
    Drunken Angel

Blood spilled out from the hole in your heart
Over the strings of your guitar
The worn down places in the wood
That once made you feel so good
    Drunken Angel
    Drunken Angel
    You’re on the other side
    Drunken Angel
    You’re on the other side

  8. Interesting.  Wonder if Shep is about to go even more unfiltered.  I’m sure he knows a thing or two.

Under his agreement with Fox, "I won't be able to report elsewhere at least in the near future," he said.
