Maybe the numbers really are greater than they historically were but they’ve been finding bodies in Town Lake forever. This didn’t just start in 2022.
Runners in the 90s never went to the eastern half of the hike and bike trail because that’s where the bodies always got found. It was common knowledge then, and likely way back before that. And like that article posted above, I tend to think that every city on a river thinks they have a problem with dead bodies in the water.

She must have been part of the Mueller well-regulated militia.

Was named the Gold Mine before that. Lock ins at north cross mall were phenomenal peak middle school fun.

But yeah, broom ball, Gold Mine, and junior high kids. Recipe for... something, anyway.

I thought of you the other day. I was at Burney Falls State Park in Northern California. We did a short hike at the park to see the falls and ended up on the PCT for a short bit. I hadn't even realized the park was on the PCT. It would be a cool little spot to stop and cool off if you ever find yourself there. Mt Shasta area.

I’m perfectly fine advancing the human race without the majority of young American men. We just need some other countries to pull a little more weight.

Would've hit the cop right in the face with the water bottle but his hands were just fat enough
Second comment made me laugh. "With luck it's the water from Mexico they tell you not to drink."

What do you think is happening in NYC?
It's a mess. Johnny Sack's consigliere ratted on him and he's fighting RICO charges and cancer at the same time. Phil Leotardo is acting boss while they're at war with Tony and the Jersey crew.

Picked up some Laphroaig for the first time in a while and was annoyed to see that the old sturdy cannister it usually comes in is now a lightweight flimsy box. Lame.

Anytime Garage Door did good work for me last year. I don't remember how I found them, but they sent somebody out the same day I called and they replaced my door the following morning. Nothing remarkable about it, just an ordinary garage door and the opener with the wifi and everything. Probably the same products and the same work than any other company could've done, but I was pretty pleased with their service and how quickly they got to it.

The first UT game that I attended in person was the 1970 game against UCLA in Austin, when the upper deck was still under construction. UCLA became the first team to really figure out a defense for Texas' wishbone attack. The Horns had the ball on the UCLA 45-yard line with 20 seconds left, trailing 17-13. Eddie Phillips hit Cotton Speyrer with a touchdown pass over the middle to win the game with 12 seconds left. That's the closest that I've seen in person.
I too have memories of a game against UCLA when their defense had us figured out. Butthere's not a 64-point Hail Mary play, so we didn't attempt one.

Yep. And Aggies are weird too.

EWR is short on controllers plus they are repairing a runway. Don't think either of those are being fixed anytime soon.
The whole country is short on controllers.

Do Leanderthals belong in this thread?

Whatever the wait is when you’re leaving your house is likely not going to be accurate when you arrive at the airport anyway. The wait could be nonexistent and then within 15 minutes thousands of people show up for their flights and the wait is suddenly an hour long.

Dogs shit in the planes daily. I once operated a flight with a mystery turd. It’s was just there in the aisle after everyone deplaned. No dogs or cats were on that flight.

Which trails at Fruita? 18 Road stuff? Me and WD40 were there a few years ago. We did Joes Ridge a bunch and Zippety Doo Da. I love those trails. It would be great doing those at night with a big starry sky.

Everything anybody wears is a statement. Boots are fucking comfortable and fitted pearl snap shirts look fucking good on me. Sorry for not being a fat-ass.
You’re not getting it. I didn’t say you shouldn’t wear pearl snaps or boots. I’m saying the reason you wear them is the same reason the fucking techies wear them. And the real cowboys were once looking at you as a young whatever-the-fuck-you-do the same way that you look at the techies now.

And God forbid those of us who are real Texans would wear western wear.
Who said you shouldn’t?
But you’re generally doing for the fashion statement. No different than them. Accept my apology if you’re posting from atop your horse on the back 40.

If Dazed and Confused was filmed today, looking back the same number of years as the original did, it would be about the graduating class of 2007.

Seeing social media posts related to dead girls in a river that somehow still find a way to end with, "We still know God is good" is a sickening reminder of how demented all this bullshit really is. For most of my life I was in the "I don't believe it but I respect your beliefs" camp. That respect is harder and harder to find these days.
