  1. 2 dogs.  Both times under similar conditions and circumstances.  Driving back from out of state on a state highway at night.

Technically have hit one deer.  Coming into Martindale from Luling around sunset.  Came over a rise and there was a deer in my lane standing near the shoulder.  It was looking in the other direction.  There is no one coming for a mile or two so, I let of the gas and start going left.  As I a start to go left, the deer, still looking in the opposite direction, starts to walk left.  He takes a step, I compensate... He takes another step, I compensate.  Rinse, Repeat.  At some point, I realize I am about to run out of road so I make the decision to go back to the right.  I knew as soon as I made the decision, there was going to be contact.  So I make a "wince" face and turn back towards the middle.  I hear a faint thud and slight rubbing sound.  I look back and the deer is looking around like "WTF?"

Later at home, I could tell I had just bumped it with my side view mirror.  It also knocked a streak of dirt of my car.

  2. Trying to measure the impact he had on my musical tastes.  All I can say is that he opened it to a brand new world of possibilities and at the same time confirms that he indeed, as others have pointed out, otherworldly.

  3. I always enjoyed watching highlights of him.  He was a hell of a talent before and after his injury.  RIP from that horrible disease 'Comet.

On a weird side note, I had a dream about Jim Brown last night and was expecting to see a notice about his passing.  But from what I have heard about Jim Brown, death jumped on him once and Jim Brown just swatted it off like a fly.

  4. people on two lane roads that insist on crossing double yellow line on a blind curve.  See this more often than not by my house.  People who swing out to make a right turn in a 4 wheeled vehicle.  This isn't the age prior to power steering and you are not driving a semi.

  5. 1972 - Miami vs Baylor - Baylor Stadium.  My grandpa took me.  It became our thing to do over the next 10 years.  Never paid for one game.  He knew most of the ticket takers.  Anyways,  it was Grant Teaff's first home game as coach (don't neg.).  Also got to see Chuck Foreman playing for Miami.  Bears won.

First time I saw Texas at Baylor stadium was in 74.  Didn't matter how old you were or who your favorite team was... if you followed football in the state of Texas, you knew who the Longhorns were.  I will never forget standing next to the locker room and watching them come out. The white uniforms were awesome to behold back then too.  A cool side story, my son-in-law's Dad was on that Texas team.   That's all I have to say about that day.

Thanks. I had Google fiber the last several years but recently moved, and Google doesn't offer it anymore. I'm trying YouTube TV right now. It checks all the boxes except LHN. So I might add Sling or Vidgo for the season. It just seems ridiculous to pay $40-$50/mo in exchange for probably 12 hours of fb games.

Edit: should have mentioned that I'll start with the trial

Yeah, but you can drop it anytime without consequence at least.  I am considering holding on to it depending on how the sports year plays out.

    Picked up Vidgo last night.

What do you think? I'm deciding between sling and vidgo.

I wish I still had PSVue!  But seriously... LHN is in the base package.  No Fox Regional networks - Rangers fan so baseball season is dead to me.  I have had maybe 1 or two buffering issues but it does what it is supposed to do.  We spend most of TV time streaming off Netflix or Amazon or HBOMax with Disney + thrown in.  I know vidgo offers Paramount(Yellowstone) network but not AMC(Better Call Saul).  I have not spent that much time browsing other channels.  I have had Sling in the past so that is probably why I chose to give vidgo a shot since I know what sling does.  Not a knock on sling.  I am currently paying 40 dollars a month.

  8. Automakers gotta do everything they can to help pay their employees - present and past.

I did all my own repairs (mostly good results!) until I (me, the wife and 2 daughters) started UT in 94.  Since then, I have delegated my auto repairs.  I still do things that don't require much work.  But my days of spending an afternoon under, or sitting on the wheel well of, a car are done.

Some people get low-to-the-ground antennas to work but I think it's universally agreed that going higher is best.  Be certain that you're pointed in the right direction. Use antennaweb.org and a compass to help position the antenna.

a quick interweb search tells me that Fox 7 is UHF and the other Austin majors are VHF.  I wonder if that somehow is creating the situation for you.

Well, that  makes sense on the channels.  Thanks for the tip advice on the antenna web site.

    India?

I am guessing yes based on the green and yellow 3 "autos".  The lack of separation and space consideration and constant honking gives me flashbacks of being in Bangalore.  I don't recall seeing any cars like that in South America (Bolivia not Brazil).

  11. PSVue , we hardly knew ye.  Have Hulu Live no ads w\ Disney+ and ESPN+ bundles.  Looking to add Sling or Vidgo for LHN.  Also, I am in Hays county (Kyle area) and I am looking for an HD antenna that can pick up the local channels.  I am on my second one in the last 6 months.  The first one I had was an old one that was pretty much guaranteed to pick up Fox 7 but really nothing else.  The one I have now, picks up everything except, of course, Fox 7.  I saw home made job from a few pages back.  I don't have the patience for that.  I currently have the antenna in my living room.

Thinking about hanging the current antenna in the attic just to see if that solves the lost Fox 7 problem.
