Hey, I want Texas to succeed and I think it’s coming together but if you want a realistic perspective, you have to evaluate the shortcomings just as much as the moments of glory.

LSU is kinda going through a similar phase right now too in that we’re not sure how good we are or could be this season.

LSU already has three wins over top 10 teams but looked like dogshit against Florida so it’s still uncertain how far they can go and I had no expectations LSU would be 6-1 at this point.

Will LSU beat Alabama? I doubt it but that will be the ultimate test.

I’ll be pulling for Texas to make the playoffs but from what I’ve seen I wouldn’t be surprised if they lost one or two to teams they shouldn’t lose to.

    JMO

The only shortcoming was losing to Maryland and letting Tulsa hang with us for a half. TCU, USC and OU were obviously all great wins. KState was exorcising demons (think... winning a close one in Starkville. Or not. You would know, you're an LSU fan).

Baylor doesn't actually suck - they might have an outside shot at 6-6 - and obviously we are going to struggle when the best QB we've had in a decade only plays 4 snaps.

@Tech makes me nervous. Okie Lite is trash and has never beaten us when we're worth a shit and they aren't (at least not in my lifetime). WVU we will be favored and it should be apparent we are the better team when firing on all cylinders.

I think 10-2 is most likely for this team, but I think it's more likely we finish 11-1 than 9-3. I just don't see two losses left on the schedule.

Wear burnt orange or maroon to a night game in Lubbock.  Report back.  It can get bad.  Very bad.

I only have passing memories of the only night game in Lubbock I've been to in 2002. I don't remember any particular animosity, but do remember the removal of goalposts and bleachers (yes bleachers) in the student sections.

Those motherfuckers get crazy but usually not in a nasty way. If it does come to that you can usually pin it on them being a bunch of drunk, bored idiots.

Tech is basically a better school and program than TxSt in a way shittier part of Texas.

I agree that we are deserving of being in the Top 10. Aggy talks quality losses. Point margins matter - when it comes to message board discussion.

To me we are a team not THAT much different than last year’s with all those close losses. We were a better-than-average team last year and our record didn’t reflect it. We’ve evolved to good (not great). The difference this year is QB, OL, and WR play, in that order. We have a QB that has learned how to win games, by first learning the hard way exactly how to lose them.

I think that lack of scoring margin has caused people to believe our 7 ranking is inflated. I fall into that camp. We should end the season anywhere between 5 and 15. I bet we finish 10-4 or 11-3.

I'm not convinced we're the 7th best team in the country, either, but anyone that says we aren't deserving of that ranking is kidding themselves.

You know how I know the fucking Politics board on this site is a cesspool of circle-jerking dipshittery? Because this fucking rube has like 2900 up votes. What a fucking shithole that place has to be for clowns like this guy to be among the apparently most respected. He's a fucking LSU honk with a penchant for paranoia and myopia. Ridiculous.

I'd consider repping this if you weren't such a cunt yourself.

  5. Also there's this strange part of me and I don't know how to feel about but it wants atm and BlowU to both middle to a 9-3 Cotton Bowl season (9-4 for OU of course) where OU picks them up by the neck and punts their ass back to college station after a 40 point drubbing.

I'd then remind them how much cock they sucked in the b12 and let them see the difference between big boy football and whiny fuckstick football.

  6. Quote

you lost to Maryland who lost to Temple, Villanova, and Buffalo.

FUCK guys. I'm checking Maryland's schedule but somehow these 2 losses to Villanova and Buffalo are nowhere to be found. Someone should alert the NCAA that Maryland is actually 4-5 through week 7.

Sigh, I get it. You’re super fans and your team is world beaters while everyone in the shitty SEC sucks except Alabama.

But the truth is half the SEC could probably beat Texas right now on any given day.  UT struggled against Tulsa and Baylor and looked bad in a loss against Maryland.

Yeah, Georgia hasn’t beaten any top ten teams but the teams they did beat (Tenn, South Carolina, Mizzou, Vandy) the games were never in doubt.  They were all blowouts.

We kicked the dogshit out of what might become the eventual pac12 champ (seriously... go back and watch that game. The 2nd half was close to being a heinous ass-whipping) and then kicked the dogshit out of a team that hung with tOSU for 4 quarters and could have won.

Oh yeah... then we beat an undefeated top 10 OU team that I guarantee you will finish 10-2 on the season and likely sneak into the top 10.

This isn't the team that lost to Maryland. Outside of Bama, LSU and Georgia I honestly don't think any team in the SEC is well-coached or physical enough to where I would favor them or even make it a coin flip on a neutral site. (edit: did you see what we did to Mizzou last year?)

Texas is well-coached, young, talented, good at winning, and we will fuck you up if you let us.

This isn't some smoke and mirrors bullshit, we've won 6 straight against a group that will collectively finish well above .500.

Oregon St ran for 196 yards on them.

...and the other OSU ran for almost 400 and hung 77 points.

Their worst game was against TCU. Outside of that they've been pretty clearly the 2nd best team in the country imo. Clemson has played a fucking dog-shit schedule and struggled against the only 2 relevant P5 teams they've played.

ND? C'mon. UCF? Impossible to judge.

Everyone else has a loss. OSU doesn't look like world-beaters that are going to go undefeated but I sure as shit wouldn't want to play them in a CFP game.

South end zone was the main issue. Was empty.

The rest was fine and loud.

You'd have to pay me to sit in the south end zone against Baylor in that weather.

It's not like this game was supposed to be exciting. I think it's probably a ho-hum 20 point win with Sam in the whole game.

    WVU will be 100,000+

Adjusted Stats has us as 28th offensively in Points Per Possession (31st per play), and 29th defensively (25th per play).

Yep. Add in turnover margin and special teams and that's how you sneak into the top 10.

  11. If asked, Shane will handle OSU and we will move on. I want Sam healthy for November.

Let's keep in mind this game is two weeks out. I think we looked a bit gassed against Baylor at times, especially when containing the edge or making tackles at the first level.

Let's get these boys rested up and send 'em to the dining hall and we'll see if Okie Lite can hang in the trenches for 60 minutes (surprise: I don't think they can).

As for "scoring defense" seems like that's a bit inflated due to playing a shootout with arguably the best offense in football. Outside of OU, we have only given up 20+ in one win: Tulsa.

I'm not saying we are playoff worthy or playoff bound, but it would be glorious for humanity if not only we  made the playoffs, but to knock Bama out in the first round...

I believe it would be the "Final Solution" to the aggy problem.  The mass suicide...  But aggy would fuck that up too.

Peter is Bama*. The suck up is aggy.

Aggy is a better example. UTlite is actually a good coach away from becoming a powerhouse (again).

Disagree. Recruiting in Tennessee is harder than ever. Until they get enough talent on the field at the right position it won't matter who's coaching.

TU isn't UT where you can drunkenly stumble into a top 10 recruiting class.

    We needed that.

If we run the table the only thing we might need is a USC win over ND.

Conference attrition doesn't matter when you go 9-0 in the conference. There will be a few ranked B12 teams come end of season and hypothetically we will be undefeated against them.

I’d be happy with us being in the CCG with a chance to win the big 12. All this playoff talk is premature but the tiny chance we’d make it, we’d be competitive; especially with Herman having additional time to gameplan.

Like others said, we’ll lose 1 or 2 more before the CCG. Tech likely especially if a night game. OSU looks like stir fried shit but will look like Bama vs. us. Not a slam dunk. Kansas is the only gimme.

No they won't. Good Texas teams fucking OWN okie lite to an absurd degree. We hung 70 on them in the late 90s and then won 12 in a row during the 00s. Two shitty Texas teams almost beat ranked OSU teams in the past 3 years and got robbed of one win.

Fuck Okie Lite. I'm as scared of them as I was of Baylor.

I have seen this pic forever now but have never questioned why so I will do it now. First off, if this is photoshopped, then disregard anything after this and carry on. But if this is real, then:

How the fuck do they claim 1997 and 2010? I for the life of me can not grasp this. This is even fucking dumb for Aggy. 1997, they got ran off the field by Nebraska in the Big 12 title game. Nebraska went undefeated that year I believe. In 2010, OU squeaked by Nebraska in the Big 12 title game. Am I missing something?

I was looking into this the other day. In 2010 they finished with the same record as OU in the B12 so they were technically "co-division champs".

Where the retarded aggy logic comes in is "well we didnt get the chance to play in the B12 title game, so let's just assume we would have won."

It would be like Texas claiming the 2008 B12 title.

Wake me up in 3 weeks when all this hand wringing will be over...  Right now it looks like the top 4 is set.  Don't really expect much if any change....  Championship games will tell the tale.

    Bama, Clempson & two patsies

I would take OSU by 2 scores over the Tigers.

To me it is them and Bama and then everyone else.
