Never understood how Babe could hit with that horrible back hitch in his swing. He must have had eyes like a fucking hawk.
Also guys weren't throwing it 95.
That said, something that is so awesome about baseball is how little it's changed in almost 200 years. You can take Gehrig's swing and put it in any era and bat .250.

Not going full conspiracy - just sharing news as it comes out. Could just be coincidences. But if I was a detective, well, you know the adage.

I remember when I was 66 and starting to experiment with alcohol and learning how night clubs work. Fortunately I grew out of it and by 80 I was more into the upscale sports bar scene.

We also contributed quite a bit to the threat. So yeah it's easy to, for example, get all huffy about Soviet submarines in Cuba, but does that happen without Jupiter missiles in Turkey? Point being, any Russian schmuck could say the exact same sentence that you began with and he'd be every bit as correct as you are. But the way you put it out there (and I'm sure the Russian schmuck would too) makes it seem as if the US (or in the schmuck's case, the USSR) was some sort of victim in the Cold War. We (they) weren't.
I mean I just said it was threatened - but yes it takes two to tango.

Our security was definitely threatened during the Cold War. We were at the precipice of nuclear war multiple times over a period of roughly 40 years following WW2. There were many sleepless nights during that time.

The real problem with our "national security" is that we've only really been insecure one time since 1812 and that is when we were fighting ourselves. We don't really know what national security actually means. We think its awesome to pay an exorbitant amount for a fighter jet. And it looks cool when its bombing overmatched warlords who still use 70s era Soviet weapons. Meanwhile China and Russia probably already know how to take down our F-35. That's why Israel wants their own variant which they won't share with us.
Yeah. National Security in 2020 is basically how secure is your data. Add a handful of aircraft carriers, some intelligence, some black ops capability - what else do you really need? Nuclear deterrent doesn't even scare anyone anymore. All those ICBMs will rust away under a tarp before anyone fires them.

I've not read the entire thread but Mexican cartels don't tend to hit people in their home wearing FedEx garb. They snatch them up and take em somewhere to complete the "job" in cartel style.
Exactly. Throw some asada on the grill, invite the cousins over. Put the Spurs game on. Make a night of it.

Would seem to me like it'd be hotter than two rats in a sock in the back side of that velour Oldsmobile. Then again, we were all once and young and probably didn't start sweating taking the trash out.
We did a drive-in movie with the kids in April in Round Rock to see "Trolls" and everybody cut their engines about 15 minutes in and we opened up the windows/sunroof and it was pretty nice. But I can't imagine doing that in August. But I guess everybody just keeps the A/C on and has a time. South Austin's mom sure enjoys going trunk to hood to sunroof...in an order that would surprise you.
I fucked my girlfriend in high school plenty in the back of my car with the car turned off.
Yes it gets hot as fuck. But you tend to not mind as much when you're... fucking.

Thinking about Hale-Bopp reminded me of something else--back then, I went up on Mount Bonnell to see it, and even though it's still in the city, just getting above the predominant city lights helped. So if you live near there and don't want to drive far out into the country, that might be an option that's better than the average back yard. But that was 20+ years ago.
Unfortunately it's closed right now. And unlike some other parks I would guess they have a cop there or at least someone doing rounds.

Reading Havertz to Chelsea is almost a done deal. Think only the teams with oligarch owners will be able to spend big this summer but it’s a great time to do so considering depressed prices and FFP dead.
Chelsea is also up $125m on the year - only paying one transfer fee for Kovacic. They are only a season removed from a massive spending window, however.

Why the disguise if he was just going to off himself afterwards? They would have likely answered the door regardless, right? Gated entry maybe?

And, let's be clear -- Federal judges have HUNDREDS of cases on their dockets. You can find something politically juicy for most any of them, particularly in NY or DC. It's the nature of the biz. But, the folks most likely to try to kill a judge remain drug cases, cases involving deeply personal disputes/vendettas, that sort of thing.
I'll wait and see what shakes out here. But if the DOJ half-asses the investigation, that will tell us something all by itself.
Yeah it could be any number of things. I would think it would be most likely connected to a sentence she already handed out. A week seems a tight timeframe for DB actors to go ahead and kill her family. You figure they would be able to bribe her or lawyer up or threaten her without resorting to shooting her house up.

Steel Shank: You're not just telling us what we want to hear?
CDC: No sir. No way.
Steel Shank: Because we just want to know the truth.
CDC: Well I guess I am telling you what you want to hear.
Steel Shank: Boy, didn't we just tell you not to do that?
CDC: Yes sir.
Steel Shank: OK then
Our coaching hires do have a hint of recidivism.

Most likely a 10,000 year storm occurs annually across the globe. Maybe many.
Well yeah global warming is ensuring that. Not sure about multiple 10,000 year ones but it wouldn't surprise me.

There's so much golf to play on the toughest course iteration so far this year. 6 shot lead is huge but a couple of bird/bog swings and it will get interesting.

Good catch - it did happen apparently (the banker suicide) but it was in November of last year. So, a little bit more of a stretch.
