It should be legal everywhere.  Hate that it takes so long for it to happen.  An issue I disagree with many in my party on.  I see no reason for alcohol to be legal and pot illegal.  I dislike the smell and it being everywhere in public, but that's my only gripe.  And I feel like once it's legal, people eventually chill with the public consumption.  I spend summers in the mountains.  When it was first legal in Colorado for a couple years it seems like I smelled pot every where I went.  Now, I barely notice.

I don’t get why republicans oppose it when they don’t have facts or public opinion on their side and they never will. Just because you don’t support something doesn’t mean you have to oppose it.  Why can’t they just get out of the way or put it up for a vote then vote present and let it pass with all democrat votes?

just doesn’t make any fucking sense and it makes me hate the GOP

In looking at the outstanding races, I’m guessing that it will end up 53-47 GOP. Rosen has to catch up to win but the outstanding votes are in Vegas. She will take it.  Too bad Casey looks to just be missing out in PA but maybe there are some mail in votes left in Philly. Sucks but I went to sleep last night thinking it was 55-45. Small victories.

In looking ahead to 2026, the Dems have 2 tough races Ossoff (GA) and Peters (MI) while GOP will have strong challenges with Collins (ME), Ernst (IA), Tillis (NC). Usually the midterms are bad for the party in power but you never know.

of course I’m counting on Kari Lake losing but she is surprisingly making it a close race. Wow.

53-47 is what it will be.  We dodged a bullet because last night it was looking like 57-43 was possible if not likely.

DeSantis and the hemp industry were working together against the Amendment that failed in Florida. DeSantis had previously vetoed a bill that would ban hemp products (like delta 8 ) and in return the hemp lobby gave the Republicans $5 million dollars.

But in June, when DeSantis was presented with a bill that would have imposed a similar hemp ban, he vetoed it. In the following weeks, CBS reported on text messages that showed hemp executives—whose lobbyists also have deep ties to Florida Republicans—rallying around DeSantis and pledging $5 million to the Florida Republican Party. Those messages showed that in turn, the state GOP would use that money to fight Amendment 3. “We know nothing in life is free and neither was this veto,” said an introductory post in a WhatsApp message group called Save Florida Hemp.

The amendment would’ve passed in Florida if they didn’t have such a shitty governor.  Desantis went all out to stop Legalization. I don’t think most other governors would have interfered so blatantly.

Is there any path for abortion to get on the ballot in Texas like it has in so many other states? What would it require?

Texas doesn’t give a fuck about its citizens or what they think.  The legislature decides all of our policy.  You could collect 10 million signatures in support of an issue and hot wheels will just laugh at you on the Capitol steps.

  5. We need some damage control.

Need to win the senate seats in Nevada and Arizona.  If the GOP takes those, they are at what 57?  Trump supporters will probably use death threats on 3 democrat senators to get around the filibuster.  I’d feel a lot better if they’re at 55 or 54.

Need to win the house or have the GOP only win it by 1 or 2 seats so that we can cause as much complications as humanly possible.

  6. Dan Patrick runs rampant across the state of Texas like never seen before.

our idiot legislature in the state Capitol will view this election as a mandate to go as far right as humanly possible. Look for more book banning. Critical race theory. Abbott wheeling over minorities and gays. School Vouchers. They might try to crush delta 8 because why the fuck not.  Shits and giggles. They will tell the idiot Texans who vote that it “ protects the children” and 80% of Texans will support banning delta 8. Fucking insane world we live in.

look for transgenders having to hide in basements or attics and never seeing the light of day. Gays / lesbians will be constantly dunked on and ridiculed. Women will have their rights taken away. Minorities will be reminded that they are second class citizens.

stephen miller will be the national point man for a lot of Dan Patrick’s Texas style ideas. They’re going to line up like Alabama football under Nick Saban and ram as much shit down the throats of the American people as possible.

  7. This is a pathetic showing.

any democrat candidate worth their salt puts states like Maine, Minnesota, Virginia, Connecticut, and New Hampshire away very quickly. Harris is struggling to win them.

I thought this was going to be a fight, but Harris is getting run off the map.

This right here.  Violence is coming.  Tens of millions of people still believe the 2020 elections was rigged.  Not because of facts but because Trump, his allies, Fox News told them that and in fact keep telling them that.  Over the last few months, you have heard Trump and others saying they can only lose if the Dems cheat.  I am seeing friends on social media like Facebook already saying stuff like it's obvious the Dems are trying to cheat to steal the election.  Once he loses Tuesday night (and I actually think it will be a blow out for Kamala) he will go on TV and say the election was stolen from him and some of those millions of people will lose their shit and violence will occur.  Hopefully it is put down quickly across the country and we can figure out some way to move forward as a nation and send the MAGA crowd back to their holes.

Most trump supporters aren’t very bright.

Given today's info, just wanted to put out a few districts to perhaps keep an eye on in Georgia.  I think we will know these outcomes pretty quickly Tuesday.  All incumbents listed.

    1.  GA 6th (Northeast Metro Atlanta) - Rich McCormack was drawn to be R+11

    2.  GA 11th (Northwest Metro Atlanta) - Treason Tour Guide Barry Loudermilk R+11

    3.  GA 12th (Augusta) - Rick Allen R+8

With congressional districts picking up a few points isn't unreasonable in general, if it's breaking much better than anyone thinks these are still long shots.  However, it is worth an early eye Tuesday evening.

Appreciate all the Georgia updates.  Hope you are right or close to right!

Just filled out my WA mail ballot and will swing by a drop box tomorrow morning. Hope it doesn't get firebombed. I'd describe myself as ambivalent toward a Harris presidency but she's the no-brainer none the less.

Categorically, I will not vote for a Republican, so obviously running up the score on the presidential and statewide races but there are some GOP-aligned ballot measures best described as ratfuckery that I had the pleasure of voting against; and while I'm a little iffy on the soon-to-be Governor, other statewide Democratic incumbents/candidates seem to be accomplished and well regarded in their fields. From what I can tell they stay in their lane, no Sid Miller or Ken Paxton nonsense either, which is refreshing. My understanding is the Seattle city council seat is pretty competitive too, so not a total waste of time.

    Pretty cool sticker too:

Vote by Aug. 6 and wear your I Voted sticker with pride | Employee News

I’m so jealous.  Mail in ballot?  Drop box?

Texas has none of those futuristic devices.

He will take credit for it before he even enters office if he wins and then tank the economy and then his successor will get the blame for it...if this goes anything like 2017-2021.

People are idiots.  Obama left him a good situation and there’s not ever any mention of that. People act like Trump took us from a Great Depression to boom times. It wasn’t like that.  People also act like Trump presided over the best economy ever and don’t seem to give him any blame for covid or all the people who lost their Jobs to that.

    it’s bizarre.

Abbott has recently been cutting and running ads for Cruz, and I don’t recall that last time.

And the Cruz ad spends are ramping up, so there’s something going on. I’ve been seeing them all over sports shows and YouTube.

I wish another tree branch would fall on Abbott.
