  1. Seeing some of his highlights You can see why he is not as good a defender as the other two, being extremely in your face can be good 1 on 1 defense but that is not what I am talking about, if you see the video I posted it is two guards shutting down THE ENTIRE TEAM, What if Ziegler is screened? I am not attacking the player per se if you could show me highlights of where he is a great switch defender I would appreciate it, but I am talking about the creme de la creme two guards that just makes the opposing team cry, for cheap. That is the type of defense that can win in March, AND guards well against the achilles heel of ultra talented teams, the 3pt shot.
  2. If you ever want to see good perimeter defense, not just fake defense that can get you fried by guards hitting threes just look at these two Lonzo was a #2 pick but Aggie Caruso was undrafted, that is the type of players that should be recruited , not just physical guards that can handle posts ups, you need to have players that are SMART, or can be coached to be that smart, that is the key to good defense, not a flaky defense that just relies on misses and rebounds.
  3. Nah not me, that is actually a worst case scenario, it took forever to get rid of Barnes because he did make those SS and EE early. Good enough to not get fired, never good enough to win a title.
  4. It's also laughable that people think Barnes has not had all world talent, this is Barnes historical best NBA team starting 5: TJ (career was cut short due to injuries), PJ, KD, LA, TT. This team could have won an NBA title around the 2010s (assuming they all played together in their prime of course). Of active coaches only Cal has done better, it is so laughable.
  5. That is his main problem I think he is over the moon happy with EE finishes, which is fine Barnes can give you a million of those, I just want more, that is really the only difference.
  6. Ok I already explained it before to you but you seem to unwilling to listen (and have a reputation for it) Physical defense -> waste of time in march (note I don't mean hustle, hustle is extremely important), time and time again the whistles are swallowed during the regular season but not during the tournament and all of a sudden the game turns into a FT contest which leads us to flaw #2 Barnes refuses to prioritize FT-> This is the single most important shot in college, it is not even close, it is the only reliable way to shorten deficits, and only reliable way to increase leads. Maybe in the NBA the 3 pt shot is more valuable but only because pros are really good at FT negating the advantage. You need to stop shooting 3s when cold -> yes he stopped doing this in the 2nd half vs Houston and surprise surprise they more than doubled their first half score. But by then it was so fucking laughably late My dream coach: Runs a smart defense, switching on the perimeter to avoid screens, lots of energy but at the same time does not do those useless double blocks (see RT). FT obviously, maybe have a merchant or two. Runs a modern offense with off ball movement to create spacing, it can be the triple post or the motion offense, BUT the coach is not afraid to have clutch players go iso and run their hot hands. Give this coach talent and he wins multiple national titles
  7. I don't disagree, he is a great coach, but for fucks sakes I want to win a national title in basketball, you know how disappointing it is to start a season and know for a fact that it will simply won't happen? His philosophy is deeply flawed, his football doppleganger is Brian Ferentz. And Barnes has had NBA all star talent
  8. Rick Barnes has a ceiling, it is not luck, it is not talent, it is his coaching. The same glaring flaws 20 years ago are still there today, there is no way to explain it other than stubbornness. Sean Miller better be more open minded to learn from his failures.
  9. They might not win or score much but at least they started paying attention to driving the lane, and the 3s came after that.
  10. The shot chart says otherwise it was an insane 3 point desperation game.
  11. Start pushing for good layups or get to the FT line any way possible (except Barnes teams always sucked at FT), aka calming down. Like someone mentioned this is deja vu x 20
  12. Kelvin Sampson used to own Barnes hard for a while too I think it was 8 straight wins at some point
  13. Those thousands of Aggies in the Waffen SS must have felt like a million dollars, conquer Poland and then woop woop a MNC vs Tulane. Of course then the monkey paw curled.
  14. Considering they won a national championship in WBB their collapse kinda diproves the hilarious theory that they are cursed, its just top down rot in the entire athletic department. Every single coach whether through verbal interaction, or just feeling vibes, every single one realizes that they can just coast and make easy money since on the other side you have rubes that will whoop and holler at everything. Hence their signature slogans, "Get your licks in now", "its not how it used to be", "We are a real program now" that is it that is all you need to buy time with the cult.
  15. Yeah its so fucking good it is like a time capsule so much wrong but so much right! Monkey's paw curls #1 I mean I don't need to say more Monkey's paw curls #2 They did beat Bama. and yet were still a 5 loss team
  16. Whatever happened to Brothers Before Others? So good
  17. I needed the extra strong stuff today, So I told an LLM to parse the zoo, here is the full week of Aggie's 9/11 sorted by most replies
  18. Saw this on reddit each SS team's starting five and where their original school.
  19. #3 is absolutely true he was Chris Park and Schloss tweeted when they were bragging about the George Strait concert.
  20. I honestly can't think of any Texas BB hire that the media has not slobbered, and they have been 100% wrong (character is still relevant). At the end of the day a good AD is the #1 determinant of success and CDC is that, but I would never trust the media who sees Texas as a Tier III basketball school
  21. An argument could be made that he gets a mulligan year if he can't get any transfers in, specially with 2 nattys on his wall. That said Billy did have the same reputation as a coach that could not get over the hump, before he actually did it, but I don't remember the specifics why.
  22. See I see this as the worst case scenario. Good enough to not get fired bad enough to never ever win a natty. I already lived that with Barnes and it took forever to move on. Admittedly I could lower expectations for FF on a super stacked field so 2003 was the only time I was happy. That was one sick NBA draft, even with LeBron skipping college.
  23. I presume since grave robbing is a crime while dumpster diving with the half-ass attempt to find the owner means he just made $1119
  24. What type of defense does Miller run? I am so damn tired of the physical defense we always seem to run and then splatter when we reach the tournament, we need smarter defense with the ability to switch and deal with screens. At the end of the day it is the variability on 3pt shots, and well free throws, that can turn a cupcake into a cinderella. I am definitely eating some choice words about comparing Sean Miller's Arizona teams to the choking team up north.
  25. Man I love a well classified prime steak, so never really made too much fun of meat judging, but this is getting out of hand with the agro shit, next thing you know they will win the Directors cup of agro judging. That and well the sheep jokes
