If ya'll think the DT situation here is worrisome, we could be LSU right now.  That board is livid about not landing a single portal DT, except some scrub from Wisconsin back during the first window, and losing the top three DT's from last year's terrible defense with nothing waiting in the wings.  Those clowns were convinced all the top portal DT's would be begging to come play for Bo Davis.  They are also coming to the realization that DT recruiting for this current class isn't going to well.

Patiently waiting for Bo to show his ass. LSU’s  “record breaking” class doesn’t have a single DT commit yet.

  2. Thanks again putt. That hit the spot. Pinkerton’s rub was pretty similar to some ribs I enjoyed at the Montgomery County Cookoff a few weeks back.

Their jambalaya is probably the closest thing we’re going to get to the old Goode Co duck jambalaya. I have no idea why they dropped smoked duck off their menu. It was the only reason to eat there.

I’m coming around on spare ribs especially when they’re prepared like that. I still like baby backs better, but nobody in Texas does them right. I guess I’ll have to go to Memphis for proper baby backs.

  3. The Ringer Rewatchables would spend a hour minimum breaking down Bunny’s scene.

I’d say she’s mostly a Texas/Cowboys fan, but Good Lord it contradicts with her aggy/Oilers gear. She’s pretty vague on where her dad’s suite is. She reminds of these idiots who go to small schools in Texas and root for all the Texas teams. You gotta pick one.

  4. I finished The Dark Forest. A truly fascinating idea. Terrific book.

I hope B&W spend most of the season or seasons in space. Sounds like some Mad Max Lite shit on the surface and Avatar in the subsurface. It would be very tough to adapt to film.

The droplet scene and The Battle in the Darkness should be quite a spectacle.

  5. The smartest thing an Astro player can do is be nice to the media. Other than Astros Twitter, this is a very laid back sports town. Throw them tickets, invite them to charity balls, appear on their shows.

975 on the drive home was advocating offering Bregman a 3 year contract today to “take the pressure off and keep him from pressing.” You can’t make this shit up if you tried.

So I picked up this skit from another thread.  After watching, it is quite clear that previous generations of SNL cast members were better and rehearsed much more than the recent casts.  It drives me crazy when no one in a skit can give a line without reading it off cue cards.  I get that some of the hosts are outside of their comfort zones, but the regulars should be able to learn their lines.

I wonder if the current cast is too busy filming commercials to be bothered to learn their lines. Everybody except the minor male players are routinely booking commercials. They don’t film those in NYC.

Hell Kennan had a sitcom filmed in LA while on the show. Methinks the regulars are doing a lot of shit on Zoom and rolling up in person for dress rehearsal, live show, and getting on a plane the next day.

  7. I’m trying to game out the Falcons’ thought process on Penix.

They needed a pass rusher, but 8 was too early, so they started to think outside the box.

They also knew if they moved back past 10 that the Vikings would pick Penix, and if they moved back to 13 they’d lose JJ to the Broncos.

So if they wanted Penix, they had to stick and pick at 8. Yes it was garded to pick him that early, but they got their guy. I reject they could have traded back and acquired picks and still gotten Penix. JJ has a lot of question marks and Nix flat out sucks. Penix would have been gone after 12 at a minimum.

I also heard the Falcons don’t expect to be picking in the first 10 during the life of Cousins’ contract, so they felt compelled to move now and get their guy.

I think it’s a dogshit front office with a better than average owner. After what I saw last year, I hope Bijan gets out soon, and gets his 5th year picked up or signs an extension with his new team.

Going back and listening to the Athletic's day to youtube video, Russini said that Houston was calling a lot of teams trying hard to trade back into the first round for who she believes was an offensive player. I'm curious who that was

Terrion Arnold is my guess. He’s a corner and a Campbell/Lions type player, so I could see them sticking and picking.

Pearsall would also be a good guess. CJ loves the guy, but I don’t see DeMeco approving a move up for a WR.

  9. Big Bang Theory feels like grandmother fanfiction written as an over correction to the Free Love movement of the 60’s and 70’s. My son Leonard moved to California, but he doesn’t do drugs, drink or have sex. He studies quantum physics at Caltech, loves Star Trek, and calls his mother. He’s a good boy.

Mix in the Chuck Lorre sitcom formula and a laugh track and you have a massive hit with olds. Pick up some Comic Con fans along the way and they have a billion dollar show.

The Chuck Lorre formula is no joke with olds. My grandmother was the most buttoned up human I’ve ever met and she loved Two and Half Men. This is despite Charlie Sheen banging and paying hookers in almost every episode in the first 3-4 seasons.

they figured out dinner service …

Dessert and ice cream bar. Full blown cocktail menu

The set up will be interesting. Feges Spring Branch has a patio and kids play area so they can go crazy while their parents eat and hang out.

If they put in soft serve machine + a play area, may God have mercy on their souls. It’ll look Mia’s in under a month.

I hope some of their after dinner crowd heads over to Cowboy Surfer for first rate cocktails. We really need that bar to make it on my side of town.

  11. I would have ended Community after Glover left. It’s been endlessly debated in the in the Community thread. I’ll just leave it there.

30 Rock with its joke a minute, rapid fire style could still be on the air.

Modern Family went on for so long they most people forgot it was still on the air.

HIMYM aired perhaps the worst finale in the history of television, but I think the final season was pretty strong overall. I can’t think of a bad season. Pretty underrated show. The finale probably killed any chance it had at second life on streamers, but I still enjoy watching it.

Parks and Rec started off pretty strong, but ended as another comfort food comedy.

I never engaged with Big Bang Theory enough to form an opinion on the finale. I’m glad Jim Parsons is on his way to becoming a billionaire. I’m always happy for a local boy makes good story.
