  1. That is something else. I my address is the orange dot. I'm literally the "shake twice" drip --
  2. I usually rely on that automatic "grounding" feature of my Mavic along with word from my neighbor who is a retired SWA pilot and professional drone operator giving me the 411 on what's GO/NO GO. looks like I need to rethink those protocols. I DO NOT want a sit down with the FAA. Ever.
  3. Alrighty then!!! Drone has been mothballed. Excellent heads-up.
  4. I've been flying the drone, so I hope I'm not out of compliance. The deer was already being collected by animal control at ramp 7. That's how I noticed it on my bike ride.
  5. SIL said his DPS recovery team is now staging from the park in Bergheim (just outside of Boerne) for their work today. That's maybe 20 minutes from Canyon Lake. They are working their way here fast. I saw dead deer floating in the lake yesterday. I think some victims are going to be found a few hundred yards from my front door. FML On a happier note he said they attacked that brisket like it had bullied them in grade school. Firing up that mf'er again and taking some swine tonight. Guessing I'll learn some things. Will report back what I can.
  6. There's literally a big ass mental institution right in the middle of town.
  7. @SydneyCarton Yeah, and still rising too.
  8. Canyon Lake as of today --
  9. Reposting as .mp4 for those who can't bring it up-- IMG_7092.mp4
  10. FML. Took a bike ride down to boat ramp 7 just to see what's what. This was going on. Up & down the shorelines slow & methodically --- IMG_7092.mov
  11. Saturday morning.
  12. This was the debris field when it arrived Saturday morning as seen from my drone up over 300 feet. No telling what is in that. Just massive.
  13. ^^This article says bodies found in Eagle Pass & Laredo from the Sanderson flood in 1965. Laredo is over 300 miles away by car from Sanderson. Crazy story... https://www.newswest9.com/article/news/local/survivors-residents-remember-sanderson-flood-of-1965-50-years-later/513-eae8a65e-71e0-4fd2-b61a-73b1a80c11c6
  14. When I was a kid we'd drive HWY 90 from SA out the the ranch near the Big Bend Nat'l Park main entrance. I always thought it was funny seeing all the dams in Sanderson. My grandmother, who grew up there explained that they once had a flood that washed away the entire town to the extent that even the graveyard was unearthed. She told me they found many of those remains in the Gulf weeks later around the mouth of the Rio Grande. If she wasn't bullshitting me, which I can't rule out, then I guess that distance from Hunt/Kerrville to Canyon Lake doesn't seem all that out of the question.
  15. BS is a rare Bear, that is for certain.
  16. He said they already found one body over 40 miles away. Couple of other dudes there nodded along.
  17. We didn't talk too much darkness, but he did tell me that it would not be surprising if some of the victims ended up in Canyon Lake. That was a sobering comment.
  18. Dropped that brisket and smoked corn on the cob off in Boerne for my son-in-law and his DPS recovery team pals. That hotel parking lot looked like the big DPS Death Star HQ on Lamar. Like an elephant grave yard of black and white SUV cruisers. Anyway, I guess the smoker gods were with me today because this text from him just came though on my drive back to Canyon Lake...
  19. DPS brisket coming along nicely. Close to wrap and rest time--
  20. Ha! One end of it was on the north side of the lake & the other on the south. Perfect complete arch.
  21. And I refuse to believe those little souls weren't responsible for this piece of artwork over Canyon Lake last night. From my balcony...
  22. For the TTWWP crowd...
  23. No idea. I don't want to ask him either. I just got back from NB HEB. Grabbed two big ass Prime briskets and am going to get them on the smoke first thing in the morning and then take them over to his team's hotel in Boerne tomorrow night when they get back for the day. Not sure what I'll hear, but I'm bracing for anything. I just don't know how these guys deal with this stuff. I'm damned near ready to end it when one of my dogs dies. lI just don't see how.
  24. I'll paraphrase his text to my daughter because I believe this has now been figured into the totals. This came over at around 10:45am or so and he's in between Hunt and Camp Mystic --> "We've found 2 kids and the other CID found 3 more. Maybe one from Mystic but not sure. She'd be the right age to be at the camp but no telling. Finding some that weren't at the camp. We're looking. There's so much stacked up. FEMA may be coming in with equipment...". I'm gonna stop there.
