  1. Random question - I was discussing the Bruce Feldman book Meat Market with a friend, and it brought to mind how big Hargrave Military Academy, BYU online classes, and other "creative" ways to help get kids eligible used to be.  I feel like these were much more prevalent pre-2010 and I never hear about them anymore.  Is that true?  If so, are high schools just better at keeping kids eligible?  Did conferences loosen their standards?  TIA.

Even worse. They spent 25 million to hire their 5th choice after being publicly turned down by the 1st four choices and having their boosters attempt to take over the program exposed. I hope this works out for Harsin, he seems like a good dude, but this program is toxic.

I've heard from several former players that Harsin was a huge tool.  Not sure if they just had bad relationships with him and/or it was just a toxic time at UT generally (whynotboth.gif).

Every ounce of my being recoils at the thought of my AC being set to 60.

The progressive commercial is so spot on. I’ve officially become my father.

  4. I feel like I have put up with a lot over the last ten years.  I've seen us kick both halves because we screwed up the coin toss.  I've witnessed our athletic director have to get on a plane to convince the Tulsa offensive coordinator to take a huge raise to come coach here.  I watched us lose to Kansas and have like 4 extra points blocked in a single game.  Hiring some washed up NFL loser will literally break me.

Wish-casting.  We have 230 pages of it here.  They don't know shit.

Why would Urban need to "signal" he's not taking the job?  Wouldn't he just...decline the job?

This is also the same law firm late UT President Bill Powers joined after stepping down as @derpyhorndog mentioned, right?

Yeah, but Austin is a pretty small legal community (most firms only have a small footprint).  If you're looking to transition into a decently sized Austin office of a law firm, you're pretty much looking at there, Winstead and Graves Daugherty.  I wouldn't put any stock in Powers being there.  Tuggle is a really well regarded estate planning lawyer, so I'm sure some big wig (UT connected or otherwise) had his or her plane put in Tuggle's name for anonymity.
