"Their baseball uniforms said 'Texas'."
They so transparently want the wider world to mistake them for the University of Texas. Their nil is 'Texas Aggie blah blah blah'.

I have an affinity for Applebee's, simply because growing up in Camp Lejeune with very little to do in the neighboring shithole town of Jacksonville, Applebee's was relatively new and was one of the nicer restaurants in town. So it felt like a big night out when my parents would take us there for dinner. When I moved to Austin in the mid-1990s I used to frequent the one off Ben White and Mopac next to the Best Buy.
But I don't think I've been to one in about 15 years or so, and I really hope we sign a few of these portal guys this weekend.
Well, I hope you're ready for what follows after this proclamation. I'm assuming @Newy25 will want to duel you at the very least; he may just send an assassin. You're going to want to pick the weapons, of course, and a second as well. I'm available via zoom if you need encouragement. I don't know the duties of a second, but it's probably something like a notary.

It really is ketch, everyone! Not only is he here trying to crowdsource his own job, but he doesn't even know how to spell a recruit's name. Fat fuck.
Don't do his job for him.
Completely unrelated and coincidental tangent: I wonder how low you have to be to steal from a charity?

If Aggy pulls the plug on E-Rob, they’re admitting they fucked up.
They can’t admit it.Well, not the very millisecond after they admitted to fucking up with Jimbo.

Yeah, I get it’s fun to enjoy a rival’s negative news, but this is bad for the sport in general.
We'll settle for it being bad for you and work from there.

I paid (a lot--too much?) for my oldest to go to Syracuse. So I am gruntled at these developments and would like to think I am responsible, in some very, very small way.
Well, I'm assuming you were there during conception or was that a Ron McKelvey situation?

they have some good hires, but nothing that makes you go "yeah, that's awesome"
they allegedly have a bag the size of Texas and are out here hiring Trooper fucking Taylor instead of offering Frank Wilson or Dell McGee or Tony Alford $1.5 million. fuck, they could offer Choice $1 million just to fuck with Texas...or the Bama RB coach, or Curtis Luper or anyone - literally anyone. instead they hired TROOPER TAYLOR.
the real issue is that they rushed to fire Jimbo, then they rushed to hire Elko and they have absolutely squandered any positive to hiring Elko when they did. no finished out staff, no clarity on recruiting trail, not even sure who is ON the recruiting trail for them now.
let's say i am a recruit an A&M has recently started re-recruiting me. i go to their website, here is their coaching list currently, as of 12/12/23 at 1:39p
that's it.
they have announced a bunch of meh hires and as far as I know have no WR coach, no TE coach, no DC - have they announced a LB or DL coach? we are like 8 days from NSD1 - WHAT ARE YOU DOING?
what a master class in how not to handle a coaching transition.
FUCK, even Steve Patterson wouldn't handle a coaching transition this poorly.
and those rubes still haven't ejected Bjork into the sun?
I believe this guy is on retainer for multiple positions.

Here was SMU outside of losing in Norman and FW:
38-14
69-0
34-16
31-10
55-0
69-10
36-31 (@Rice)
45-21
38-34 (@Memphis)
59-14
26-14 (@ ranked Tulane - AAC title game)
The best team that Liberty beat lost to fucking UMass at home. Honestly Auburn really fucked SMU over by putting that horseshit display on against NMSU that tricked people into thinking NMSU wasn't a bad G5 team like they are. They're fucking 91 in FPI. Liberty is 48 in FPI. SMU lost to FPI 8 and 28 on the road and beat 51, 53 and 83 all on the road as well.
Liberty edges SMU in sp+ (which, for the record, has tOSU, PSU and Oregon in the top 5) but the SoS paints a similar picture in terms of teams actually played.
Shirley, any SMU discussion could be moved to any other fucking thread other than this one? No?

a handful:
- 1914: 1 selector picked Texas (4 of 7 picked Army)
- 1941: 2 selectors picked Texas (11 picked Minn)
- 1968: 3 selectors picked Texas (14 of 18 picked Ohio State
- 1977: 4 selectors picked Texas (17 of 22 picked ND)
- 1981: 1 selector picked Texas (18 of 23 picked Clemson)
as a reminder for the ones A&M claim, they had 2 of 15 selectors pick them for 1919 (5 picked Harvard, 5 picked Illinois), 1927 1 of 12 selectors picked them (5 picked Illinois, 3 picked Georgia), 1939 14 of 18 picked Texas A&M (3 selectors picked Cornell) so in reality only one of those is anywhere close to legitimate - 1939
My algorithm prefers Cornell, sir.

4 national titles: 1963, 1969,1970,2005
give us our due. We have a lot of unclaimed ones but these are truly legit.
What years would the unclaimed ones be? I almost wish the powers that be would throw those on the stadium wall right before the A&M home game in 2025. I think they should get a mention in the National Championship trophy room though.

2023 Iowa has to be statistically one of the weirdest things ever seen in college football. This is so hideous and bizarre and I can't look away.
First, let's just stand in awe of how shitty the Big 10 west is. In the 21 games between the east and west, the east outscored the west by 221, which is more than any individual team in the west actually scored all year in Big 10 competition. And that's with Michigan State (worst P5 offense in the country) diluting the east. The BEST big 10 west offense was Illinois at 24 ppg. Good defenses or bad offenses? We would normally have our question answered in bowl season with some out of conference games, but only 3 teams are bowl eligible.
Ok, on to Iowa. Their average score in Big 10 competition this year was 14.6-12.1. Further, their total points scored in Big 10 competition this year would have been by far the best defensive effort (outside Iowa) in the Big 10 west. Put another way, their offense was so terrible, its output would have been the #5 best defense in the country, just behind.... Iowa's actual defense. And somehow they went 10-2.
All of this breaks my brain. I don't know how to start calculating how ridiculously unlikely all this is. Maybe someone had a season like this before the forward pass?
The fact that Nebraska's offense is only infinitesimally better is delicious.

Yes, the committee and the tv networks really hate the idea of Texas being in it. / eye roll.
Stop looking for conspiracies. We didn't play great for about a month, we lost to OU who then proceeded to lose twice, we have been shitty for a decade (so get no benefit of the doubt), and we got unlucky that there are so many zero loss/ 1 loss teams this year.
