Murphy was fine. He made a few boneheaded decisions because he was a bit too confident in his abilities. The only shocking thing to me was how immobile he is. Hell, he was worn out after a 5 yard jog in an “attempt” to catch the defender that intercepted that pass. I don’t even know if it was a jog. It’s like his body didn’t know how to move at any thing faster than a slow walk and he gave up after a half dozen steps.

Well said. He needs to cut his hair and transform his body to ensure everybody knows he’s serious about the game. Maybe also cut out chick fil a.

People were talking about Duncanville like it was the Team of the Decade. Is Desoto that good? Anybody got some details here?

Who was talking about Duncanville as the team of the decade?  They’ve lost three of the last four title games they’ve played in…to the same team each time.

Atascosita at North Shore is a great matchup.

That's the non-affiliated shit i loved when I loved when I lived down there.

So many great matchups on a given weekend.

That district is totally stacked.  Summer Creek and CE King are likely going 6A D2 in the playoffs (with NS and Atascocita going 6A D1).  Both Summer Creek and King have over 3200 students.

  4. North Shore is ass gaping undefeated CE King 42-6 in the 4th.  I thought King might make it a game, given they have already beaten Allen and Pearland this year.

Highland Park and Jesuit in a close one 15-13 in the fourth.  I just left that game which is being played at SMU’s stadium.

I’ve never quite figured out whether or not Liucci is more of an asset or a hindrance to that program. On the one hand, he functions as an extension of the AD and helps recruit players with impunity and was a big part of their bagman program.

On the other hand, he’s always going to function as a buffer between the fans and the AD, obfuscating and exaggerating feedback and issues, never fully allowing anyone to really understand where anything stands until it is too late.

I wouldn’t want somebody like that around Texas. I also don’t like true parasites like Ketchum and Chip Brown hanging around either. At least Texas has extensions actually helping them identify talent and issues with some transparency and honesty though.

His “intelligence to content produced” ratio asymptotically approaches zero and he has the emotional stability of a 9 month old sitting in a poopy diaper.  Clear hindrance to A&M

  6. Back over 10+ years ago I was a strategy consultant. We were working at a client site and were given a small conference room for three of us to work in. It was a bit small but workable. One of the guys just came to the US from a foreign country and didn’t wear deodorant. The body odor was off the charts. It was really fucking bad to the point that I had to breathe through my mouth exclusively and not use my nose.

After a day of this I made up a new gmail account under a fake name and emailed him a link to some antiperspirant he could buy at Walgreens next to the office, and said “in America we apply this in the morning and wear it every day”.

Starting the next day the room smelled just fine. I am pretty sure he suspected it was me who sent him the anonymous email, but the way I see it I did him a massive favor for his life.

I don't know Houston demos that well, but Lee/Wisdom not too long ago (the 80s) was the HISD high school, with Bellaire and Lamar somewhat close on its heels.  And, it would seem to still have that "quasi-Memorial" attendance zone, but maybe things are all chopped up now.  But, AFAIK, Bellaire and Lamar are now the HISD high schools.  And, white flight seems to have been mostly complete before this happened.  So what happened?

They opened Westside high school in the early 2000s and Lee/Wisdom was left with Gulfton/Westchase apartment land.  It's crazy that the high school that produced Peter Gardere dropped football about 10 years after he graduated.

Houston Wisdom (formerly Houston Lee) is 2-0. It’s their 2nd two-win season since 1998.

That's awesome.  As many of you probably know, for a period of time in the early 2000s, they dropped football due to a lack of interest in getting players to play.  The students are almost entirely first generation and come from literally all over the world.  Very good soccer team.  The LA Times featured the school in an article on Houston's diversity a few years ago.

How Houston has become the most diverse place in America - Los Angeles Times (latimes.com)

I used to play in a basketball league in their gym when I was just out of college and found the place to be fascinating.

    Scipio Tex

    Offensive Line

As an aside, Rice’s #55 De’Braylon Carroll is a 5-11, 285 pound baller and they had a few guys up front who were relatively capable and played hard.

Hey Rice fan here (and UT fan, too).  Yes, De'Braylon Carroll is a very good player.  He's a redshirt junior and his senior year of high school he was the district defensive MVP - playing for Duncanville.  State title runner up to North Shore that year.  Probably of little solace to the fanbase, but thought I'd echo Scipio's comment.

  10. I'm at Highland Park's stadium watching HP take it to Lewisville.  HP is up 21-10 at half.  HP is consistently hitting the big play, despite really getting pushed around by both Lewisville lines.  Lewisville has some very good athletes, but HP is assignment sound and are making excellent adjustments at the line reacting to the Lewisville blitzes.

  11. Rice fan checking in (got MBA at Texas so cheer for the horns too).

A couple notes on the Rice team:

JT Daniels is the QB on his fourth school (USC, Georgia, West Virginia)

Luke McCaffrey (Christian’s brother) is a solid receiver.

Watch out for OL Braeden Nutter and WR  Draylon Dickmann.  Working together they are a salty combination.

I expect an ass whipping, “name your score” type of afternoon.
