It's going to be entirely fact-specific.

Imagine if you killed someone (it could happen).  The circumstances would likely be a pretty freakish one-off.  Your deranged neighbor comes over and threatens you, he lunges at you.  You are one of those guys who carries a basic lockblade knife with him.  You are able to pull it, and you stab him, he dies.  Maybe a witness saw y'all arguing beforehand, so your self-defense claim isn't enough, and you get charged with murder.

The circumstances are that you have a clean record, no history of violence of violent threats, and whatever the case (murder or self-defense), your violent act here was clearly a product of a particular circumstance, not some wider violent trend.  Bottom line, even if you DID murder your neighbor, you're not likely to be a threat of violence to anyone else.

Compare that to someone who is charged with killing a member of a rival gang.  The accused has a long record of violent offenses and threats to kill others.  The accused has a record of a long-standing beef with the entire rival gang, and was heard at various times threatening members of the rival gang.  He is reasonably likely to commit further violence along those lines if he's released.

It's not just the act alleged (you killed someone).  It's the circumstances that make you a likely future threat to others or not.

I think his username might be held against him at the bail hearing.

  2. The amount bail and reasoning behind it is at the discretion of the judge or magistrate.  This is the guidance from the statute:

    Quote

    (b) In setting bail under this article, the magistrate shall impose the least restrictive conditions, if any, and the personal bond or cash or surety bond necessary to reasonably ensure the defendant's appearance in court as required and the safety of the community, law enforcement, and the victim of the alleged offense.

    (c) In each criminal case, unless specifically provided by other law, there is a rebuttable presumption that bail, conditions of release, or both bail and conditions of release are sufficient to reasonably ensure the defendant's appearance in court as required and the safety of the community, law enforcement, and the victim of the alleged offense.

Feel free to read the statute.

  3. While not without fault, Brad Stuver was not the reason Austin lost the game.  Vancouver took 27 shots, 11 on goal, and 10 of the shots were either great or good according to the metrics.

It's not on Stuver that Vancouver was able to take 20+ shots inside the 18.  Stuver saved 6 including the pk.

White was left alone 8 yards from goal (Cascante/Gally) for a 1v1 against Stuver - 1st goal.

White was left alone 9 yards from goal (Cascante/Gally) for a 1v1 one against Stuver - 2nd goal.  It started with a poor clearance from Stuver that went straight to Vancouver at mid-pitch, but all of the defenders were there and could have defended.

Takaoka was left alone (Cascante) in the six when a corner glanced off the head of Dani and was one touched into the net.  3rd goal.

Vancouver was able to receive the ball 10 yards from goal, receives ball and shoots, Stuver missed, ball bounces off the post to White who is left alone and he shoots it through BHI's face into the back of the goal.  4th goal.  Stuver should have grabbed the initial shot.

Dani loses the a ball in our defensive side, 2v2 with BHI and Svatok - both defenders close on one Vancouver player leaving open pass to wide open White for a 1v1 against Stuver.  5th goal.

  4. Stopped by BBQ Fiends in Hutto for lunch today.  One person in line at Noon and a few others eating on the picnic tables.   No pics because I got it to go.

Moist brisket, pork ribs, turkey, chorizoqueso sausage, elotes and charro beans.   Brisket was perfectly cooked with a great bark. Ribs had good flavor although they were a bit over cooked. Turkey was tender and moist.  Beans were alright but tasted more like ranch style than charro.  Elotes were good.   Saved the sausage for later.

Grabbed a amber ale at the on-site brewery for the wife.  It was a great day to eat some barbecue outside on a high cliff above Brushy Creek.  Nepalese festival across the creek at the park - they have shitty music.

Nico wanted this to be a Sabovic/Cascante type of game, next time let's consider trying Ilie/Svatok and maybe White does not score four fucking times.

Ilie is out with a hamstring injury, but Cascante should not start against a great offensive team again.

Not sure on the hickory question, but I definitely was pretty underwhelmed with the place when I tried while traveling back to east Texas from DFW.  Maybe I just caught an off-day.  Best to him in retirement.  Don't mean to be a dick.  But I'm kind of a dick.

Edit to add that Stanley's in Tyler uses pecan, which is in the hickory family.

I was underwhelmed with 4-T's as well, but that was back in 2017 when they made the TM Top 50.

Recently bought a new Le Crueset pan and tried it out last night… ruined. She left tongs with plastic at end on it while on the stove and now can’t get the melted plastic off the enamel.

Damn.  Google it, though.  There are plenty of potential ways to get the plastic off.
