The reason it works is because we only care about Texas football. The business is just around exactly what you said. We don’t want to help anyone else do it, cuz no other fan base is really like the Texas one. I think we often forget that Texas is the biggest brand in college athletics, especially football. There’s a handful of others that are in the same echelon, but only like 5 schools. The rest are just more about the college football aggregate than a standalone thing.

Yeah, Blackshire would seem to be the obvious choice. Bolden is good enough to where he should have a featured role in the return game and be getting some offensive touches even with him enrolling in the summer and entering a somewhat crowded room. Would be a bummer to lose him.

This is from Sept 1 2023. I was trying to find a later season version but was struggling.

Gavin Holmes, Terrance Brookes, Jaylon Guilbeau, Vernon Broughton or Mo Blackwell look like the obvious choice for this Potential Portal Player X

I just don't see how going beyond 20 makes sense for the SEC or Big 10 at current contract rates.  Only ND, FSU, Clemson and maybe Miami bring in high enough ratings to justify expansion financially.   And it makes no sense to go to 24 for any reason other than financial.  But clearly people are talking about it.  4X18 or 2X20, 2X16 just makes more sense than 3X24.

Because it wouldn’t be for just football they’d bring basketball and baseball too.

  4. As Steve Sarkisian has started his spring practice exit interviews, there has been some potential movement behind the scenes.

Just so everyone is aware, we are hearing of a returning Longhorns defensive starter potentially hitting the portal.

However, no decision has been finalized to our knowledge. And I want to make sure everyone understands I italicized the word “potentially” for a reason.

We’ll see what happens in the next 24 hours and update accordingly.

The deadline to enter the portal ends April 30.

Can you not do stupid shit like this? What is it going to take? Do we need to just neg bomb you every time you pull this kind of stunt? The only way you add value here is when you provide information that you've weaseled or whittled your way into, source it, and fail to add your own thoughts. That almost counterbalances all of the other queenish shit like this that you bring to the table. Almost.

OR you can go watch the fucking video and find it yourself while also fucking off.

Rankings aren't the same as a mock draft, but Jeremiah's mock draft is arguably the best in the business.  His final version last year was the only one on the planet that had the Texans trading back up for Will Anderson, which seemed insane when he suggested it.

It's still insane even to think about now.

Guys talking about salary caps and such, whatever happens with collective bargaining will still have zero impact on NIL. Outside parties can do whatever they want with players with the NCAA being put to sleep, whether these are corporate deals or boosters still doing work, players will get paid outside of any salaries. Not saying collectives wouldn't diminish in value, because they would. Just saying that the days of someone else paying guys while we idiots as Texas fans look at with our noses up are long gone. Moving forward, Texas is one of the big boys in all of this irrespective of how involved or uninvolved the schools get.

Do you feel knowing how the old money is with regards to player compensation that if teams are able to pay players and have their own budget through the university that it would affect donations to our NIL efforts?

I don't understand how salary caps would even work. Who enforces it? The NCAA sends a letter to Lamborghini of Austin that they can't sign a guy up as a brand ambassador because he's already made too much money from his other sponsorships? The player is disqualified once his reported income from outside business deals hits a certain level?

Should the NFL be doing that with Mahomes's State Farm contract?

IMO Salary caps only work for what the school could pay...not the actual NIL deals.
