this is going to be a long week
Two weeks. Next week we'll just argue about whether or not Jake Majors could have done more in the run game.

Someone should do the same roster side-by-side for the 2015 opener. Then we'll all have a little pep in our step to finish out the day.

Based on who is more of an elite overall player, considering long-term potential. It's a little unfair to the college guys because they haven't gotten to the pros yet, but also an advantage because their college greatness gets projected into the future. Sanders and Banks, might be way better than their counterparts. But, both counterparts played in the NFL for several years. That's a pretty big bar.
Edit: the reason I did this comparison is that I wanted to understand what Sark is working with vs. what Greg Davis had to work with in 2005. It's pretty clear Davis still had quite a bit more talent, but this year's team is no slouch.
Vince being QB throws everything out of whack. Xavier would have had 1600 receiving yards running open across the field.

That is a lucid, well thought-out, intelligent objection.
Overruled.
Bill O’Brien coached the 2022 offense to 41 points a game. 4th in the nation. BOB is one of the worst OC’s out there. Sometimes talent covers up bad coaching.
Sark can coordinate an offense. And some of his offenses are beautiful to watch. Some are not. It remains to be seen what he can do without elite talent. We saw our offense sputter after other teams adjusted. Sometimes it looked like we ran out plays.
He got run out of Atlanta. I’m hoping he works out, but he’s been underwhelming so far.I'd prefer Sark tries to win specifically WITH elite talent.

College Football's Top 100 Players for 2023
So Jalen has a really bad injury history which has everyone a little hesitant to assess his value. BUT what if we get 6 or 7 games out him playing at an all-american level? Seems like it's still worth it.

After reading some of the practice reports. I have a good feeling about this season guys
I just think back to all the questions we had going into last season and how they were answered. I feel like i have a lot fewer questions and the practice reports, though often unreliable, seem to offer a lot more answers to these questions.
This is a clumsy way of saying, I think we have fewer holes, we're more experienced, and this staff will develop veterans into quality contributors.

Only Surly could spin “our head coach admits to getting writers block during big games” as a positive.
Never change, Surly.
I don't think you know what writers block is.
Now if CTJ is saying he has the yips, then we've got problems.

I guess the copium take is that this staff has flipped a lot of DBs. Jaylon Guilbeau, Terrance Brooks, Warren Roberson, and Xavion Brice were all straight flips. Jelani McDonald had also previously been committed to another school.
My copium take for any DB or WR miss in recruiting is the portal. You can't build a unit from the portal but you can definitely find quality starters.

I haven't seen anything that makes me think they wouldn't have happily taken Black and Mack
Of course they would but Mack might have his own opinions.

How quickly we forget….
What's funny is that the hard and time consuming part is building a team talented enough that Charlie Strong could coach to 9-3. Good on Sark if true.

2) Sarkisian told someone that everyone on this board would recognize in a 1:1 that he had the equivalent of “writer’s block” during the Tech game. It’s happened before, too. I’m not saying that that can’t be fixed or is a big game certainty (he’s also done well in big games sometimes). All I’m saying is that it is a major risk when considering outcomes this season.
Sark seems introspective. Much easier to grow if you're willing to seek outside advice.

I kind of had the same though. May have been that he committed to Texas, informed Florida and they doubled down. Either that or he told both staffs he was in.
I don't think that is what he's implying.

If you would have told me that Patterson, Paul Chryst, and Joe Decamillis could be on Sark's support staff.... man.
I know Sark has a lot to prove on the field but his process seems pretty rock solid.

That dude also raged for a year that Deandre Moore was bread and a spare and it seems like Moore is complete opposite.
He's part of the recruiting message board hive mind that sees everything through that lens with years of moldy buildup in his brain. He's also incredibly annoying. He's the type of guy that thought Brian Kelly hire would fail because of "cultural fit" before the guy even coached a game.

Also, I rewatched the UT vs Washington Highlights, and holy shit there was a lot of meat left on the bone in the passing game. Drops, drops, drops. We're going to be so much better if Quinn and the WRs are just a little more efficienct. That's why Jimbo rallied the "NIL" troops to keep Max Johnson for another season
Oooh boy. That's even better. Jimbo and Petrino rubbing each other the wrong way while yo-yo-ing Weigman and Max Johnson. I'm sure the fanbase will be patient.

This all started with talent comps from this upcoming offense to 2008/09, not Colt’s freshman year. I’m excited to see improvement in our passing game, but its way too soon to crown our receivers (an average unit in 2022 and sometimes a weakness) or Ewers. Neither would I write them off.We should probably freeze this thread until the end of the season and then all agree to come back and discuss in a reasonable manner when we have all the information. What is everyone doing on December 20th? Maybe around 3pm central?

I'm really looking forward to an Aggie coaching search. The hiring of Jimbo was pretty well executed, but that was because he was a "great" candidate for everyone to get behind. Also, quietly snagging big name guys is kind of Scott Woodward's thing. Bjork? HAAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAA. Paying him to go away plus finding a good replacement is going to be expensive and complicated. I look forward to a drawn out process with no "sure thing" options. I'm sure their boosters, admin, and fans will handle it well.
