  1. Notably, these soldiers are deployed illegally per Judge Cobb's ruling last week. The ruling is stayed till Dec 11 pending appeal https://www.politico.com/news/2025/11/20/national-guard-washington-dc-00663137
  2. Not a lot of reporting on this story outside of local news and Fox News, weird. This had some good reporting https://abc57.com/news/two-national-guardsmen-shot-in-washington-dc-according-to-dhs-chief Unfortunate that people are starting to take the bait and retaliate against NG service members deployed to menace local populations Edit: and we should probably update the thread title to be more accurate
  3. Thank goodness we're respected again, right @realgreggym?
  4. Brine temp this morning: still 36F lol
  5. I'm trying the brine-thaw with my bird this year. HEB sells a nice brining bag that perfectly lines a 5gal drink cooler. Bird is in the brine, and it's crept down from 39 to 36F over the last hour. Really interested to see where the temp is in the morning and if I'll need to add a scoop or two of ice to stay below 40
  6. IMO there's real value in going for the Nvidia card for gaming, DLSS is best in class and having access to CUDA is very nice if you have any sort of engineering computation that you're doing. The intel cards are a fantastic value, but they are trailing on driver support and dx11 performance. Vulkan has really closed that gap, but there's still some significant outliers
  7. They've actually come down quite a bit from their peak a year ago. A 5070TI is like $600, down from $950ish, and you can get a 5060 for $250ish and be set for 1080p gaming
  8. Finance Hamas? Believe it or not, pardon! At least if you donate enough to el presidente
  9. Hey now, that AND tariffs! Can't forget that cherry on top
  10. Man what are you talking about? Separating costs and revenues to different balance sheets is totally generally accepted accounting practices
  11. It's fascinating to see the bifuraction in knowledge about this story. MSS is basically quoting the extremely reputable NY Post and TimesofIsrael and using that story to broad brush attack basically anyone who's been anti-colonialism. I came to this news story from the framing of "holy shit nearly half of the big MAGA twitter influencers are in eastern Europe and Africa and Asia", and immediately thought of the shithousery by Pronghorn here in DT. The bigger story is that this is yet more evidence of concerted outside efforts to stoke division and manufacture both consenst and dissent. It's REALLY important to keep that in mind as we all traverse each other's spheres of manufactured reality and disparate information sources but never let a good chance go by to continue to hamfistedly paint with a broad brush and miss the bigger picture
  12. Lol if we really wanna talk about that news story, I think the Daily Texan board is gonna have some issues with all the details that it entails
  13. IMO they're more cribbing from Warhammer 40K iconography. During trumps first run they were calling him the "god-emporer" and making memes of him in golden armor like in the game art.
  14. The thing is, if you ask neutral questions it gives reasonably useful and measured answers. If you have a coocoo for cocoa puffs framing and question, it leans into that and reflects it back to you. It's like a dog barking at a mirror, and it's driving the qanon crowd even more insane by validating and repeating their nonsense back to them
  15. Bitcoin taking a huge dump is also a nice blow to the russians war effort
