  1. Hah just caught this week's episode, pretty funny with the Hegseth and Saudi sports washing. Gotta love a Turkey Trot
  2. Turned out great and moist and delicious. The truss wasn't that hard to do and the skin was delicious and crispy! Gravy turned out nice with all the root vegetables roasting in the drippings
  3. Brine-thaw update: bird is fully thawed and the thermo read 40F this morning. I tossed in a fresh scoop of ice to keep it below 40 and it's chilling until a little later this afternoon. Really excited to see how it turns out
  4. Gold and silver at least have practical uses and material properties that give them utility. Definitely still speculated upon which drives up the price, but there's actual products and services rendered with gold and silver
  5. Notably, these soldiers are deployed illegally per Judge Cobb's ruling last week. The ruling is stayed till Dec 11 pending appeal https://www.politico.com/news/2025/11/20/national-guard-washington-dc-00663137
  6. Not a lot of reporting on this story outside of local news and Fox News, weird. This had some good reporting https://abc57.com/news/two-national-guardsmen-shot-in-washington-dc-according-to-dhs-chief Unfortunate that people are starting to take the bait and retaliate against NG service members deployed to menace local populations Edit: and we should probably update the thread title to be more accurate
  7. Thank goodness we're respected again, right @realgreggym?
  8. Brine temp this morning: still 36F lol
  9. I'm trying the brine-thaw with my bird this year. HEB sells a nice brining bag that perfectly lines a 5gal drink cooler. Bird is in the brine, and it's crept down from 39 to 36F over the last hour. Really interested to see where the temp is in the morning and if I'll need to add a scoop or two of ice to stay below 40
  10. IMO there's real value in going for the Nvidia card for gaming, DLSS is best in class and having access to CUDA is very nice if you have any sort of engineering computation that you're doing. The intel cards are a fantastic value, but they are trailing on driver support and dx11 performance. Vulkan has really closed that gap, but there's still some significant outliers
  11. They've actually come down quite a bit from their peak a year ago. A 5070TI is like $600, down from $950ish, and you can get a 5060 for $250ish and be set for 1080p gaming
  12. Finance Hamas? Believe it or not, pardon! At least if you donate enough to el presidente
  13. Hey now, that AND tariffs! Can't forget that cherry on top
  14. Man what are you talking about? Separating costs and revenues to different balance sheets is totally generally accepted accounting practices
  15. It's fascinating to see the bifuraction in knowledge about this story. MSS is basically quoting the extremely reputable NY Post and TimesofIsrael and using that story to broad brush attack basically anyone who's been anti-colonialism. I came to this news story from the framing of "holy shit nearly half of the big MAGA twitter influencers are in eastern Europe and Africa and Asia", and immediately thought of the shithousery by Pronghorn here in DT. The bigger story is that this is yet more evidence of concerted outside efforts to stoke division and manufacture both consenst and dissent. It's REALLY important to keep that in mind as we all traverse each other's spheres of manufactured reality and disparate information sources but never let a good chance go by to continue to hamfistedly paint with a broad brush and miss the bigger picture
  16. Lol if we really wanna talk about that news story, I think the Daily Texan board is gonna have some issues with all the details that it entails
  17. IMO they're more cribbing from Warhammer 40K iconography. During trumps first run they were calling him the "god-emporer" and making memes of him in golden armor like in the game art.
  18. The thing is, if you ask neutral questions it gives reasonably useful and measured answers. If you have a coocoo for cocoa puffs framing and question, it leans into that and reflects it back to you. It's like a dog barking at a mirror, and it's driving the qanon crowd even more insane by validating and repeating their nonsense back to them
  19. Bitcoin taking a huge dump is also a nice blow to the russians war effort
  20. update to this, all the charges from this event have been dismissed with prejudice, following DOJ (the prosecution) submitting a motion for dismissal https://abcnews.go.com/US/doj-drops-charges-2-people-accused-ramming-vehicles/story?id=127714651
  21. ICE doesn't give a single fuck, and is eager to flex their thuggery https://www.wpri.com/news/local-news/providence/ri-judge-intervenes-after-ice-mistakenly-detains-superior-court-intern/ Multiple sources told Target 12 that Rhode Island sheriffs earlier noticed someone taking photos of the intern inside the courthouse and in Superior Court Judge McBurney’s courtroom. When approached, the individual identified himself as an ICE agent and was told to abide by standard courthouse rules, and to stop taking pictures. The intern was reportedly shaken, so McBurney offered to drive him home. ICE agents then surrounded the judge’s car and demanded everyone to exit the vehicle, threatening to smash in the windows if they did not comply. Dana Smith, Head of Security Operations for R.I. Superior Court, confronted the agents and told both the judge and the intern to stay inside the car. After an argument, ICE confirmed they had misidentified the teen and left. The intern was released once his ID was checked. “This egregious incident underscores both the community’s and the Judiciary’s concerns about how ICE is conducting its operations in Rhode Island,” R.I. Supreme Court Chief Justice Paul A. Suttell said.
