Not so sure we won't be decent there, and maybe seem some 2 TE/HB sets.

I hope so too. At some point we have to get over losing experience and expecting an immediate downgrade rather than reloading and not missing a beat. Neither Brewer nor Leitao came in as substantially worse players than Beck. They have had time to marinate and get stronger. Neither may be a direct replacement, but either could very well bring a new, even better dimension to the offense.

It's possible he has yet to receive word on a medical redshirt for this past season. He only played 3 games.

I thought medical redshirts weren't actually awarded until the normal eligibility is exhausted, meaning he won't officially get that extra season until he plays 2.

They are waiting for the Spring ball/practices/games to weed out the dispirited RBs who will be looking for greener pastures

That certainly seems to be the case. And if no one good comes out after the Spring and we didn't have better options already in play? Hopefully, we have no idea what is going on and the staff is courting several guys already. It wouldn't be the first time the 9.95ers were caught flatfooted. I'll be disappointed if we see guys like Stephens and King pick schools in the coming weeks.

This. I would see us waiting on Porter and Houston to make their departure official. If one of the two ends up staying, we will not need to explore this option.

Has there been sight of either guy during winter workouts? I guess that could be a sign that we know what our baseline is.

    Drayton's on the case!

If the last recruiting class is any indication, he thinks he is getting Feaster and therefore there is no need to work alternate plans. Hopefully there are sane minds pushing other alternatives along the Tre 'Just good enough' Watson line.

  5. I am surprised we haven't at least publicly kicked the tires on a few of these guys. The fact that so many of them still haven't picked a school suggests they aren't in a rush to make a pick. Hopefully we are active behind the scenes and don't end up empty handed.

  6. I am now confident we will hit 1000. There will be the inevitable bits of info coming out about the early enrollees that will end up here. There will be additional GT names that will pop-up, especially after Spring Practice. Those topics probably get us another page. I also am sure one or two of the headcases in this overall class will do something stupid and we will joke about it for a page. Then add in 8 pages of shitposting and we are at 1000.

RBs get hurt more often than not. Just part of the game.

Drayton doesn't like leaning on one RB either, he keeps a rotation. Sam runs so much for us between the tackles that it makes sense not to have a featured back unless he's Ezekiel Elliott-level god.

Part of it is that he was a true freshman in heavy rotation. Same nagging injury bug hit Sterns. They're just not as durable as the full-grown men yet.

It was more just a complaint about us not being able to pencil anyone in for an injury-free season. Williams also split carries as a frosh/sophomore at aggy, but he got through both seasons without missing any games before toting it 270 times last season. We probably don't even need Ingram to run it that many times even without anyone better than Young/Johnson as a back up, but our expectation is that he will get injured. Frustrating that our guys always seem to be injured while other teams seem to avoid having to go far into their depth chart, especially when they only have bread on the back end. Would probably help if we had 2 G5 patsies and an FCS team on the schedule.

Our RB depth scares me to death.

I just want to get into a situation where Sam has to be the #1 option to run the ball when Ingram subs out

It is annoying how we seem to get bit by the injury bug so often. Why can't we expect Ingram to have 250+ carries like Williams did at aggy? Their next RB had 61 carries. Obviously, some depth would be great, but if Ingram holds up we might just need Whittington as a change of pace and Young/Johnson can handle end-of-game clean up.

    - QB  - Big 12 championship level
    - RB - Lots of work to do
    - WR - Big 12 championship level
    - TE - Lots of work to do
    - OL - 9-win level (Thanks to Braun)
    - DL - Good but not a strength
    - LB - Lots of work to do
    - CB - Lots of work to do
    - S - National championship level
    - K/P- 9-win level

Eh some of these could go either way. Tempted to put national championship level for QB and WR. If LJ was back WR would definitely be national champ level.

LB , CB, and TE are just unproven right now. Ultimately I expect them to be at a 9 win level. RB has no depth, otherwise Ingram by himself is definitely 9 win level.

    I'm a bit more bullish:

    - QB  - Big 12 championship level
    - RB - 9-win level (assuming luck on health)
    - WR - Big 12 championship level
    - TE - Good but not a strength (Brewer was good as a fish and Leitao has been in the program for 2 seasons.)
    - OL - Big 12 championship level (Replacing mediocre guys with higher upside guys, plus Hand.)
    - DL - 9-win level (Too much returning experience here to think there will be a big drop off.)
    - LB - Lots of work to do
    - CB - 9-win level (Too much talent for me to expect a huge drop off, maybe should have gone with 'Good'.)
    - S - National championship level
    - K/P- Big 12 championship level (If you added return teams, I would drop it down to '9-wins', but think we have a lot of upside in our two young kickers.)

Listen, fuck your relatively accurate memory and level headed reason. With all due respect. The only defense I'll offer for Wright was that at the time we were currently getting our dicks kicked around on DL recruiting and perhaps I got a little bit antsy. But if this outcome is a foregone conclusion, as Fud mentioned, I have yet to hear a reasonable response for why waiting makes any sense. Particularly if, allegedly, the brothers are a package deal.

I also remember there was a lot of satya-ing when we hadn't offered Sylvester. No one seems to care him or Wright anymore, with our (better) targets now established.

Maybe Giles is smart rather than lazy by letting the market sort itself out before he is required to actually expend some energy. It's damn hard to come up with good superhero-to-athlete matches and it's obvious his Photoshop work has improved as the number of targets has decreased.

One of the tricky things about getting an NFL job is that you have to pass a background check. Being a raging alcoholic might be a blocker for a signed deal. Being quietly supportive of the Sandusky and Paterno families and regime at Penn State might also be a problem. So we’ll see, I guess.

The combo of Resting Rhule Face and unbridled liquor swilling has me thinking that that fucker’s breath becomes a problem in the living room. Actually heard that his chronic hallitosis is more of an inhibitor in the face to faces with moms than Derek Warehime unleashing massive grumpies onto unreinforced porcelain.

Interesting info. There are probably enough backroom Paterno ghost dick suckers in the NFL to make that a positive position in certain circles, but a lush might not pass muster. Cap'n Rumlin also had several (supposed) close brushes with the NFL that came to naught.

The good news is as follows:

1.) While I'm certain this fuckhead is a liar in general, he will either a.) actually believe all his recruits are 5 star players and thus have them chasing shit every cycle; b.) will continue to have Baylor fans perplexed as to why all their 5 star recruits aren't producing 5 star results on the field and thus continue the schadenfreude, or c.) both.

2.) He's a clueless fuckhead so NCAA rulebreaking and infractions will certainly be forthcoming, like tweeting at recruits in wrong classes and telling them in public to pistol whip their girlfriends and/or mothers.

3.) Rhule races off to the NFL next season and he is relegated back to being a Twitter fluffer.

Best player evah.  He's a mix of Calvin Johnson/Jerry Rice/Steve Largent/Terrell Owens.  Except only the good traits of all of them because none of those guys individually match up to Demas.

Stop shitting on his talent! His traits are better than any of their traits. His traits can't be described as just 'good'. I guess 'great' would be OK, but anything short of 'generational' is to disrespect him.
