  1. how in the fuck do you throw anything over the plate with a 1-2 count to a guy that hit a bomb the day before with a shitty hitter on deck? That fucking guy shouldn't have seen a pitch in the strike zone. Not one.

Classic fucking Mike Martin Regional baseball right there.

He’s a bagman. Pure and simple. A dork who coordinates moving the money around and ensuring uncles and handlers are dealt with efficiently.

Well I'd say at least 4-5 redass Aggy HS football coaches (including 2 newly minted ones that I can think of) just got a nice raise today, am I right? Certainly worked that way in LA.

The interesting thing to me is that if Jimbo agreed to Thomas' desire to have autonomy.  That dorky fucks whole dream is to be the NFL GM or to run a program like a GM and he will blatantly talk about doing things that are extreme violations. I mean, when Ole Miss and Tennessee back off after you freak them out with your "ideas" and need for full autonomy -- well, that's BAD. Will be super interesting to see if he is making offers and if so, if we see commits from guys that haven't even met their position coaches, etc ...  and to see if there are guys that he takes that are 100% NOT scheme fits. I'm also interested to see if he can adapt to Texas because LSU/LA is SSSOOOO insular and you can't expect people to lose their jobs if their kids don't pick Aggy, well maybe in the Katy Echo Chamber or the insurance field.

If it is by conference and the SEC presidents voted to allow it, the SABAN CANNOT BLOCK A GRAD TRANSFER TO ANOTHER SEC SCHOOL.

What is so difficult to understand?

     FFS.

SABAN CAN STILL FUCKING BLOCK THE TRANSFERS.

Do you guys not remember when Ferentz granted a full release to Jake Rudock to go to UM? Rudock still had to clear a B1G rule that says that you have to be a student for 1 full academic year at your new institution. So yes, it was totally "allowed" but of course it wasn't feasible without a waiver from the conference. And that was aside from the fact that he still had to choose a major that Iowa didn't offer, actually GET IN to the graduate school, and all the other stumbling blocks to grad transfers have to deal with. That year of residency is the change that was made today for the SEC. It was NOT about blocking.

    Quote

The Southeastern Conference voted Friday to allow graduate students to transfer immediately among its member schools, eliminating the one year so-called “residency” requirement that previously stood in place.

Additionally, the SEC will allow any student-athlete at a school that has been placed on a postseason ban to transfer immediately within the conference.

The NCAA is currently considering whether to end the process of schools and coaches blocking an athletes from transferring or dictating where they may go. Under the NCAA proposal, schools would be free to contact athletes when they notify their current coaches, along with stricter tampering rules and the creation of an NCAA-wide database which lists athletes who could be recruited.

As it stands now, SEC schools may still block intra-conference transfers. But Sankey said “those rules may change” under the new NCAA transfer model.

  4. update on Gilmore's visit and return visit coming up ::

Texas A&M is looking for a quarterback in the class of 2019. Offensive coordinator and quarterback coach Darrell Dickey has been all over the state and the country looking at prospects. However, on Thursday, one came to the Aggies. Amite, La., passer Amani Gilmore made his way to Aggieland as the 6-foot-1.5, 180-pound senior-to-be was already in the Lone Star State and wanted to check out A&M.

"I'm in Texas right now because of my cousin's birthday," Gilmore said on Thursday evening. "We went to a water park in New Braunfels and then I wanted to stop by Texas A&M. Tomorrow, I'm going by Houston and Prairie View too."

While on campus, Gilmore was able to speak with head coach Jimbo Fisher. "It was nice," Gilmore said. "The campus was really nice and I got to meet with the coaches. They told me they really liked my film. They said they want to see how I do at camp and then I think they'll offer. They want to see me throw. "I'm going back up there next weekend for camp now. I can't make it this weekend because of the SAT so I'm going to be there for the next weekend."

Gilmore picked up a pair of SEC offers this spring on unofficial visits to both Kentucky and Tennessee. He also has a pair of FCS offers from Jackson State and Southern.

"There are some more schools showing interest that I think are going to offer soon," he said. "I had to sit out this past season since I transferred (from Hammond), so I don't have any film. A lot of schools came by this spring, though. "I think Indiana, A&M, Louisiana-Lafayette and Tulane, all of them could offer. Those are the ones that seem the closest." Gilmore has not set up any official visits as of yet and says he is wide open in the recruiting process. "I am going to look at more things in the summer and fall and see where I want to visit," he said. "Nobody is really standing out right now. I want to go where I fit best, so I've got to see where that is."

Well, Joeckel and Ogbuehi were not rated anywhere near that when Sherman identified them or when they verballed.

    This is patently false.

Luke Joeckel was already well known in recruiting circles as a Soph, but the knock was that he had broken his leg early in his JR season, and there were questions on if he could come back 100%. The other knock was that despite what they said in every interview he was clearly a fucking package deal with his spare ass brother. He was already ranked in the 30s by the time he was even visiting Aggy and had been offered by LSU, Bama, OU, etc ...

Ogbuehi was a 4* DL ranked in the 30s or so as a Soph on the early lists, he switched to OT when 2 dudes playing OT at Allen went down, he continued to move up the rankings quickly because of his NFL frame and quick feet. He was fucking all state OT as a JR in 2008 on the state championship team. Then was dominant as a SR and was a US Army All-American. He was most definitely not some fucking sleeper that Sherm or The Marine identified out of the nether.

the mythos around Sherman, Turner and them identifying that 2010 OL class is complete bullshit. they did a fantastic job of recruiting them and a good job developing them.

The reason why LSU hasn’t been the rivalry it should be is because they’ve kicked our asses til the cows came home since we’ve joined the SEC. You’ll see it return to the 90s rivalry when our program was at the highest of heights.

    hahahah. highest of heights.

AHHH, the incredible 90s run that Aggy so loves to pontificate on… a 2-6 bowl record and 0 top 5 finishes. Oh, and it took mad violations and being on probation twice in that period, some bowl bans  - some TV bans — all to make that magic happen. Those truly were the salad days, Aggy.

  7. 2020 updates from EJ on Dorbah and Thompson Jr.  ::

Chris Thompson Jr. is now the nation’s top safety in the 2020 class.

The four-star prospect out of Duncanville saw a jump in the ranking after an impressive spring that resulted in offers from schools across the country. But Thompson is in no rush to make an early decision.

“I’m just really taking my time with it,” Thompson said. “I’m just grasping it. Everything right now is neutral. I have no favorites.”

Texas extended an offer to Thompson in January and has made him one of its top targets for next cycle. Thompson has already been to campus twice this offseason and has high interest in the program.

“Texas has a great environment,” Thompson said. “They have a great school and a great education. Just graduating from there would be a great thing. I like the scheme. Having six defensive backs on the field at once is nice.”

Thompson added that he is quickly building a strong relationship with Texas safeties coach Craig Naivar, who saw him a few times this spring, including for his spring game last week.

“I love Coach Naivar,” Thompson said. “He’s a really cool guy. He keeps it real with me. He always talks to me. We just have a great relationship.”

Along with Texas, Thompson holds early offers from Alabama, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, TCU, Texas A&M and others. He is in the process of planning summer visits.

At 6-foot-2, 180 pounds, Thompson is ranked as the No. 52 overall recruit in the country in 2020, per 247Sports.

Prince Dorbah saw his recruitment really pick up this spring.
The fast-rising 2020 defensive end out of Highland Park has notched numerous Power Five offers from programs across the country and is excited about the process.
“Recruiting has been going great for me,” Dorbah said. “I recently picked up Alabama and Oklahoma offers. Texas and Arkansas came in, too. Boston College offered, too. It’s just been getting busy.”
As mentioned, Texas was one of those schools that jumped in the mix and put an offer on the table this spring.
“The Texas offer means a lot to me, man,” Dorbah said. “Texas is my home state. I’m looking forward to going there for a visit. They’ve been sending me a lot of emails and letters.”

So where do the Longhorns stand early on?
“I’m definitely interested in Texas,” Dorbah said. “It’s my home state, you know. I was born and raised here. I’m looking forward to learning more about the program.”

Along with Texas, Dorbah holds offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Boston College, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and SMU.

Dorbah recorded 84 tackles and 10 sacks as a sophomore en route to helping Highland Park win the 5A DI state championship.
Dorbah is not ranked at this time.

That's great news but I thought we were running really low on OVs or something. Weren't we supposedly saving our last one or two for someone specific?

Even if we weren't low on numbers the staff would much prefer to have Higgins visit later in the year (~Stanford acceptance time + time when kids figure out how far from home it actually is and often go back to their favorites in the region, etc ...). The reality is that Bobby Kennedy has sold Higgins on being able to get in at Stanford and maybe he can but it's not a slam dunk. Higgins originally didn't like the fact that the coaches favored Dylan Wright and didn't react favorably to that information.  When Wilson committed to tOSU, Herman sent Mehringer to see Langston Anderson the following Monday. That wasn't as a replacement to Wilson -- he was a replacement for Higgins, in the case that he joined his bro in Columbus, and there were no secrets in it.  Anderson's offer didn't come until this week, but the second it did (along with Powell) Higgins was reaching back out to the Texas staff. My guess is that Higgins decided he wanted to fight for that spot but that the spring OVs were used up and he got his feelings in a twist anew.  Hence, EJ and Roach both put the Stanford pics in today after their discussion post 7 on 7 tourney.

  9. Rambling Perroni article that starts as an article about a walk on OC leaving the program after a year and heading to play for Sumlin in Arizona ... then goes into other xfers. Lots of Aggy posters making like of Congel leaving despite him playing in five games last year and being the 2nd C on the depth chart this spring. He was the starting C for the Maroon team in the spring game basically matched up vs. Daylon Mack all game.

all of which leads to this quote ::

    Quote

There is a chance that incoming freshman Barton Clement could play center if needed as well.

This dude needs a RS year. Big time. If he's forced into action as the C? Holy. Shit.

Recruiting related because it's clear that they are going to be able to sell playing time to OL, who should all see that as a negative as all OL should RS, but kids are stupid.

Texas A&M received somewhat of a surprise walk-on in the class of 2017 when Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy offensive lineman Robert Congel chose to be an Aggie. The 6-foot-3, 315-pound Congel did not have any FBS offers but he also seemingly did not have any ties to the Aggies either.  Congel is originally from Colorado, beginning his career at Cherry Creek High School outside of Denver. That was both the same high school in Colorado and the same Florida high school - which has become a very popular destination for top recruits - as 2017 Texas A&M four-star linebacker signee Santino Marchiol. The two decided to continue their careers together in Aggieland. While Marchiol redshirted after being injured in fall camp, Congel actually saw action as a true freshman in 2017. He served as a backup at guard and played in five games. He appeared in SEC contests vs. Arkansas, Mississippi State and South Carolina.

After working as the backup center for most of the spring, Congel has reportedly decided to transfer away from A&M, though. According to the Arizona Star, Congel will be reuniting with former A&M head coach Kevin Sumlin and offensive coordinator Noel Mazzone at Arizona.

Congel was a walk-on at A&M and, depending on how his release is stated and the NCAA ruling, he could be eligible to play immediately in Tucson. Even if not, he still has a redshirt year available and would have three seasons remaining to play.

A&M will likely stick with Erik McCoy as its starting center while Colten Prater has crosstrained there along with his guard position. There is a chance that incoming freshman Barton Clement could play center if needed as well. Congel is the second Texas A&M offensive lineman to transfer this offseason. Koda Martin, who started the majority of the games at left tackle a year ago, is headed to Syracuse as a graduate transfer. His father, Kirk Martin, is the new quarterback coach with the Orange while head coach Dino Babers is his father-in-law.

A&M had a couple other players transfer as well. Former starting cornerback Nick Harvey, who missed the 2017 season with an injury, is a graduate transfer and will play for South Carolina in his final season of eligibility this coming season. He will face the Aggies on Oct. 13 in Columbia.

Cornerback Kemah Siverand, a one-time four-star wide receiver out of Houston Cy Ridge, will be a graduate transfer as well. Siverand made the move to corner after two years on campus, the first spent redshirting. He will officially graduate at the end of the summer, in time to go through spring ball at his new school of choice. Though he has not committed anywhere yet, Siverand will take some official visits this summer. He still has two years of eligibility remaining and, as a graduate transfer, will be eligible immediately.

I think those dumb shits are going to complete their transition from their pinnacle with Leach back down to the Dykes plateau with a non-dynamic offensive mind or an outright defensive-oriented mind after the Coach Bro era ends. The ol'full circle where they're back to looking for tough west Texas cowboy types and jucos/grade issues in a more traditional offensive/defensive approach. Maybe that's just my nefarious hope. Who knows?

From your lips to God's ears, ctj. I'm all for them hiring Justin Wilcox, Alex Grinch, etc ...  That would be fucking glorious. I keep worrying that one of them will figure out that if they can replicate Leach perhaps they could replicate Holgo and hire Monken, who is just wasting away under Koetter's ass. Monken left USM because he was sick of recruiting but if you told him he could be just like Leach and hire recruiters and not really do much of it himself - that fucker would be a pain in the ass with a bunch of high 3 and low 4 star DFW kids.
