Someone can go back and find the early days article from this cycle by Liucci, Hamm, or Perroni where they talk of Fisher viewing committing as something akin to marriage, and no, I am not kidding, and then there is braggadocio around what that will mean to players who want to visit elsewhere. This is not some figment of UT fanbois' imagination or a conjuring from those dastardly dynamic thinkers such as Nahlin, Holland, and Ketchum. It's from January or February and was posted on Shaggy, for sure.

there's fucking video of that shit.

Also, did Chase Lane stay in his car while is his 7 on 7 team visited LSU? Yes. Why? exactly.

  2. that's a long game though - her twitter account is from 2014. No way am I going back to see if she was this fucking stupid and creepy then. maybe DFigs bought an old twitter account -- he was in the buying and selling troll accounts game, wasn't he?

a quick google shows this kind of shit in 2015 though ...  146k tweets and over 9000 photos and videos.😕

Nahlin has intimated a couple of times that he's more open than most think. I've disregarded it because he seems like a lock, but maybe there's something there?

Yeah, but his little brother is a fucking redass goober. I think that's been the biggest factor in keeping him interested/leaning Aggy. Having said that, Aggy is at 15 OL offers (and 2 commits) in 2020 and none of them are Marcus Stripling. OU is showing some interest but it's really cursory and despite not having one of the 15 offers Marcus is still full Gomer right now. Will be interesting to see if he gets butthurt or if Aggy gives him the offer.

  4. Horry moving not to OT but DE?!? It was clear in high school that dude wasn't a TE but I always assumed they kick him down to OT. DE? ok.

After going years without much, or any, depth at the tight end position, Texas A&M finds itself with a few players at the position.

Junior college transfer Jace Sternberger was outstanding in the spring after arriving a semester early. In fact, he was named the Aggie football Spring MVP and also was by far the spring game receiving leader. He looks like he has the potential to be a breakout star in 2018.

Redshirt freshman Keynel McZeal is still making the adjustment after moving from wide receiver after high school. However, he has shown promise as a receiving threat.

A&M will also have Arizona grad transfer Trevor Wood in the fall. He graduated in May and is already living in College Station.

The Aggies just signed Glenn Beal out of Louisiana and he will arrive later this month. Though he still has to wait a year to finish high school, A&M also has a commitment from four-star Baylor Cupp.

That leaves redshirt freshman Camron Horry as a bit of a victim of the depth chart. The 6-foot-5, 280-pounder was more a blocker than a pass-catcher. Now, though, he will be playing on the other side of the ball.

According to sources, Horry has made the move to defensive end. It was a spot that some schools liked him as when he was coming out of Katy Taylor in the class of 2017.

The son of former NBA star Robert Horry, Camron will likely have a bit of an early learning curve but he could provide depth at a position that needs it as he adjusts to his new role.

As for the most impressive part of the trip, Horace told me “It is tough to narrow it down to one thing but Drew (Mehringer) made a huge impression on my wife and I. His coaching style is a good fit for Dru”. He continued by saying “Also, how they plan on using Bru was very appealing.”

Horace had great reviews about the campus and city of Austin as well, saying “Overall, the campus, facilities, and Austin itself are all big pluses.”

I wanted to be clear about how the staff plans on using Bru should he choose to attend The University of Texas, and Horace told me they planned on using him much like he is used at Mater Dei: “Bru’s main position and focus would be at Wide Receiver, but they could also use him coming off the edge in packages in passing downs on defense, which is very similar to what he is doing at Mater Dei.”

  7. Hamm with the bullshit about Texas Masculinity. Completely made that shit up. The only place I've seen it mentioned at all is the Gigem board, so obviously he was cruising his old stomping grounds and saw the number of hits on that thread and sold Aggy what they wanted to hear. So perfect. So Aggy.

    thread in question ::

The Counseling and Mental Health Center at the University of Texas at Austin recently launched a new program to help male students “take control over their gender identity and develop a healthy sense of masculinity.”

Treating masculinity as if it were a mental health crisis, “MasculinUT” is organized by the school’s counseling staff and most recently organized a poster series encouraging students to develop a “healthy model of masculinity.”

which is sure to set the recruiting world on fire. There are no other programs like this at any other campus in the US. None. Oh wait ...

  8. Not really recruiting related but this thread from the FSU board is pretty fucking awesome - OP talks to a friend who is a scout who gives his opinion on the FSU guys. Not a bunch of glowing endorsements, and so then the board shits all over him. He's an idiot. He made it all up. etc ...

    Examples ::

Tavares McFadden is trash. No draft grade given.....effort sucks and attitude sucks.

OL is pure trash....but we already knew that much

    - The only person that piqued their interest was Rick Leonard.

Fast forward to draft weekend and it was 100% correct. Startlingly so. Crow is served. Idiots who piled on the OP try to save face, look even worse.

  9.  LT under Dicus and LT under Chad were two completely different environments for UT and the fact that the butthurt started a year after Chad took over at LT, welll ... add in that Texas under Strong was a fucking disaster at communicating with high school coaches...   Occam's Razor that shit.

Is there an A&M version of surlyhorns that tracks what the beat writers in College Station are covering? Honest question. I always appreciate the free stuff that sarva and others post here from time to time, but this year it seems there are many recruiting targets that don't overlap between the two schools so may be there isn't as much interest in the recruits the A&M sites are talking about or that coaches are supposedly visiting.

Not really. Right now you've got Perroni talking to the kids and some trainers. Hamm reports directly from the Houston trainers. Damon, much like EJ, knows fuckall unless the DFW trainers tell him. Brauninger is a mouthpiece for the AD so any info he has comes there, and Wiltfong is Elko's bitch, so anything he has comes directly from there.

After the infamous 0-fer most of the Aggy (and Texas) guys stopped posting trends and CBs, etc based on the players because they realized that Hamm got worked over pretty bad (because he ruined a couple of announcements) and that the twitter/snap age has built a more savvy, and more troll-capable recruit (the TCU guys still go by the players a lot, which is fun to watch). This and general laziness has led to our current trainer-led model of information on Texas recruits.

I think most of the time the stuff that Perroni posts ends up here and it doesn't matter if Texas is interested or not. Damon's shit doesn't end up here because it's fucking terrible, two weeks behind and directly from 2-3 sources that we all know. Some of the Texags stuff ends up here as does the choice Hamm shit. SECRant used to have more of the Texags stuff but it hasn't seemed to be posted much for the 2019 and beyond kids and most of them now seem to be 2-3 weeks behind anything being discussed here on Surly.

which WR's that we've missed out on were you really dismayed about us missing on them in the moment?

knowing satya/sarva  -- I'd say any, every, and ALL WRs that we offered or looked at in a camp that didn't sign with Texas. Bonus points if they ended up at Aggy. Dismayed at UT recruiting is his natural state.

  12. the second that EJNO committed to OU, you knew Barton was gonna get in line to suck him off after the Rivals guys were finished. The fucking guy is out of balance more often the Kenyon Green, esp when moving backwards or laterally. He is what he is - a fucking straight ahead mauler, he's fucking great at that.

    Wilkins and Pickering. DO. WANT.

It was a mix of factors, including both the coach and RHM himself.

Armanti fucking Foreman was a bigger factor in the RHM bullshit than Coach Skinnyjeans. Fuck that guy.  Mehringer can take a lot of shit but telling those 2 slapdick motherfuckers to show up to meetings on time, take some goddamn reps at practice and not take them at fucking 40% is his goddamn job. I'm surprised either of them finished the season. The roster turnover that's happening now will keep that shit from poisoning the well in the future.

    2019 4-star S Chris Adimora
Craig Naivar is stopping by Long Beach to visit a DB that is being slept on by teams in the West Coast. Texas is very high on Adimora and if they press him they could probably land him by the end of the summer.
