  1. Here's the weirdest part of the sooner summit - it's that Drumm has basically said that this kind of thing has never been done before. which is insane. The player led meetups have been going on for decades at schools that do a lot of regional recruiting. Miami and FSU were doing this in the fucking 90s. I can remember when party buses would take kids from south Dallas directly to the infamous FSU/PVAM parties. @TBGFL probably remembers this stuff as well. The Miami guys and the FSU guys then started to feign interest and then recruit for their own schools, etc ... Texas has done these. LSU has done these. Aggy has done these - even fairly recently (that pool party disaster comes to mind). The thing is - most coaching staffs will try to quash these before they happen because for all the good they can do they can do far more damage. If you don't have coaches and player personnel people there to change the ebb and flow of the dialogue you can have some real issues. If you don't have them there to deflect from -- let's say LARGE personalities (parents or kids) you can actually alienate recruits (or parents). If you don't have them there and the players begin discussing other teams/fanbases/parents/recruits/players -- you can't avoid the landmines that these convos can produce. Now most of the sooner summit guys already know each other and have known each other for years so that seems like a non-issue here, though I'd have been worried if more Texas kids were going to be a part of it, if I was RIley. For sure. I don't think Drumm is overly involved as in planning (he may have nudged or helped with communications, who knows) but honestly I think he's overly invested because he's a fanboi. He's a CW and family fanboi, he's an OU fanboi, and for whatever reason he sees this as a revolutionary event. It's just like when Kyler was coming to aggy and every word he said was gospel to Hamm. They were going to get everybody ... then the class fell almost exactly like you'd expect. I do think Drumm should be careful about things like meeting recruits at the airport at the request of another recruit and his family. That is getting into some ground that much like Hamm, can lead to OU having to distance themselves from him and the loss of credentials, etc ... you can't be going on water slides with teen recruits. I think the whole thing is overblown because Drumm is simply a lot like Hamm. He believed every kid who said "oh yeah, I'll be there" or "I'm gonna do my best to make it out" or whatever. Once he oversold the event to his readers he felt personally attacked when kids predictably backed out and the fans weren't still all-in for the event the way he was. His quote about "you just don't see this even in a regular year", etc ... When Farooq and Gilliam announce he's going to be bananas.
  2. so this is... weird. per HammLite ::
  3. Jordan Mukes - OU S commit is now 6'3" and 204 with a BIG frame. He looks to me like he'll carry 230 pretty easily. His PR in the 100 is 12.41. Seeing Mukes' gains -- there's got to be some mental or cultural fit eval that Grinch didn't like about Kendal Daniels. @quigley - is the expectation for Mukes to stay at S or spin down to LB? I assume he's bound for LB but I honestly don't know and the Sooner board guys don't give me any confidence. Looking at the S position for 2021 it looks like Broiles/Fields/DTY as JRs and then and Criddell as SO (Morris and Barnes have spun down to LB). Is there anyone that has gone from CB to S that I am missing? I don't see any of the 2021 CBs as possible S candidates with their builds, maybe Harmon but he seems like he's dead set on CB. It's weird that OU seems to have cooled on Daymon David, perhaps that means that they feel really good about Jardin Gilbert? He's really underrated IMHO. I've seen a couple of OU posters mention Chase Hattley but I don't know a damn thing about him, so until that heats up more I'm just going to ignore that. It seems like OU needs to land 1 more clear S prospect. Mukes -- looking like a prototype spread OLB to me ::
  4. Yeah, he’s an absolute freak but Schmidt needs to make sure he only eats his own lean vomit for a while.
  5. He honestly looked a lot slimmer running in their first practice video. first clip is he and Leal. https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/video/aggies-hit-field-for-first-day-of-fall-camp-2020-courtesy-of-texas-a-m-athletics/
  6. Uh... Raikes and McKinnley Jackson are in :: 34 and 35
  7. I can’t imagine the Yancey/Herman reaction to a RB reporting in that kind of condition.
  8. Thread title got me. seems they are amped about their Big backs ... let’s see them...
  9. Hank South from BamaOnline ruins Drumm’s surprise visitor — Khyree Jackson JUCO CB. who has been committed for eleven seconds :: Just spoke to Jackson and he's at Oklahoma today with group of recruits from the East Coast. Obviously OU was among his finalists but he says he's "locked in" with Alabama after making his commitment last weekend when I reached out to him today. Jackson is also from the East Coast so he's catching up with Jalil Farooq and some of those other guys. They obviously can't meet with anybody from the OU coaching staff, but they can still tour around campus and see it for themselves (as we've seen happen at Bama with Robbie Ouzts this summer). We'll keep y'all posted if there are any updates from it.
  10. Indeed. Some people like honesty and react well to it and some don’t. Fenves is gone and Hartzell (who is a fan and a friend of the program) likes to win. Period. I expect he and Herman to get along well, only because I expect Herman is about to start winning a lot of football games.
  11. To be fair, the entire narrative involving OL recruiting across every aggy site is that Texas doesn’t develop players especially OL. Ad infinitum. the average aggy has only heard from Tarp, HammLite, Looch, Imart, jmlittle, etc ... so they think the Texas OL still looks like Charlie Era crossed with their own pile of shit OL. How can Texas possibly be better than aggy? Jimbo and The Marine handpicked *checks notes* Jenkins, Blanton, Matthews, Clement “well that was a transition class” *checks notes again* Green, Robinson, Trainor uhhh... Morris, Ogunbiyi, Chibuzo, Bankhead, Jefferson they LOVE those guys. Ask them. They admit they need more T bodies but they LOVE these guys. Because they’ve been told to love them ad nauseam. To me there’s 2 really good guard prospects in Green and Morris. (Though Green clearly should not have been playing last season, as much as he did) and 2 serviceable depth interior guys in Ogunbiyi and Bankhead. Guys that are fine but that you don’t want starting or playing much. on aggy forums Layden Robinson is considered a monster soon to dominate the SEC — which I think started with IMart... he seems like a good hardworking Manvel kid that if he stays 4-5 years could give you a decent RS JR/SR year (a la KState) at C. He can play, but their expectations are now set at “Bama style mauler” instead of “good project prospect at C that may yield a solid 2 year starter”. brought to you by a bunch of guys who will still tell you that Reggie McNeal was better than Vince Young.
  12. Collins. Jesus. And Broughton.
  13. Fucking Ferrell and OU. So transparent and shitty. Watching Foster in the Conner HUDL is all you need to see to understand how bananas that is. He spends 5 minutes not touching anyone, not trying, or simply falling over people and if you think I’m exaggerating watch it. I did it the other day and it is ... something. Just find #74 in this video ... https://www.hudl.com/video/3/8972226/5d88c87e478d570ec8e70461
  14. Jalil Farooq and Kevin Gilliam both.
  15. Good get for Baylor — TERRIBLE graphic. Jesus
  16. That’s a really good get for Baylor. They are going to be a very difficult duo to deal with.
  17. Don’t think so, more narrow build through the shoulders and back.
  18. Later update after one of the posters finally remarked on OL guys having to play DL ::
  19. Landon Hullaby is going to be part of the equation as well, especially with how well his brother has done, specifically the cultural fit. outwork everyone else — compete on every snap, every lift, everything.
  20. That’s really scary - esp during COVID.
  21. OU scrummage update is interesting — here’s a snippet :: *** Here is the deal, sources tell me OU did another of covid screening on Monday. I don’t know if it was for the contact traced players, that were in contact with the previous positive nine, or what? Also don’t know how the test went. Right now, I’m assuming good but the Sooners are a bit short-handed on OL/DL at the moment. Mainly because OL guys have to playe defensive line a bit. I know that Jalen Redmond has been banged up a bit, too. This all stems back from previous season injury where Covid actually hurt him and his rehab. So, OU has him sitting out a bit lately. I don’t know if that was the case today, as well, but know he had in previous days. I’m told it’s day-to-day right now as they monitor his nagging situation.
