  1. https://www.nfl.com/combine/tracker/top-performers/ If you look under Performers and select ALL, you get the best of all time. There are tons of guys on there who did little to nothing. It’s interesting.
  2. Where did I say letting a clock run after first downs wouldn’t reduce the game time? NFL has a shorter halftime. I don’t know for certain but I’d guess the NFL has shorter TV timeouts. The NFL has fewer opportunities for replays. I don’t need college to be like the NFL. I don’t even need the NFL games to be over in 3 hours. And I’d think less so if I took advantage of the privilege to spend thousands to attend in person. The pitch count is a terrible example. It shortens the game by condensing the action not reducing the action.
  3. Do we know he’s not? 1 AB a week won’t do anything for timing or confidence. But based on what we saw last year, I’m not sure he’s good defensively. Thought someone said Thomas had some OF in him. Powell at 1st, Brown at DH.
  4. Probably so. Aranda is already there. McGuire too. I do think Tech caught us off guard last year. 4th and short will probably be about 6 yards or less.
  5. Garret G is 0-13 in the last 3 games. 3 Ks. 5 LOB. As best I can tell, he hasn’t been on base in those games. He was productive versus IU. 2 RBIs on the season. His slash line is pretty poor. Got to get it going.
  6. Are you serious? If you care enough to be done in 3 hours or close to it, then you’re not planning on watching football. If you’re watching all day, why would you give a shit if it lasts 4 hours? I’m recording our games and flipping channels. There’s plenty of shit you can do for 30 minutes if it’s that critical and avoid hearing the score. I’ll say it again. I attend games. I watch them all one way or another. Every play of every game. Four hours is probably too long. Three hours is for damn sure too short. Travel time to and from is then greater than the actual game. My cost isn’t going down. My travel Time doesn’t decrease. My actual game action does. I figure out a way. And damn near have for 30 years. All this discussion because we’re trying to reduce game times. So now we get rules changes that have significant potential impact to games and will likely do nothing for the real reasons causing the delays. Army games will have fewer plays but may last just as long as they squeeze out every ad dollar they can.
  7. If you keep squaring it up, you’ll get plenty of hits. He will produce some, it’s just a matter of when. I think we’ll hit better as a team. And hopefully the pitching will be good. Last night may have been Gordon’s worst effort in the past two years. My hope is to make it to the post season and see what happens.
  8. It’s really hard to get a feel for him. He’s not as “athletic” as we’d like him to be. Bench reps were pretty poor. He’s smaller than Campbell but his first 10 yards of the 40 (just outside the top 10) were the same at 1.59. That’s not top 10 for LBers. And would be tied for 3rd worst amongst safeties. No shuttle or 3 cone drill, but a number of dudes didn’t run those. No vertical. He’s not a tweener in the sense that he can’t play safety. His change of direction wouldn’t allow for it. I don’t think dropping 15 pounds does that. He really is a LB but doesn’t have outstanding physical attributes. He’s aggressive, plays hard and upfield. That’s his sell so he’ll just need one team to want that.
  9. We need to start wracking up some wins. Right now Campbell best offensive attribute is walking. 1 XBH, 2 RBIs. That is not only not good, it’s a problem. Daly has experience at the top of the order. Thomas and Flores also are issues right now. Powell never plays enough to know his potential. We’ve faced a lot of lefties which should benefit the righties. Our lineup isn’t exactly working so all options should be on the table. Based on their numbers to date, we might be better with Campbell leading off and Kennedy #2. It’s interesting the hope we latch onto and won’t let go easily. Campbell is a career .239 hitter. Apparently, he’s a slow starter. We need him to produce, but we can’t force it until he starts producing. He’s hitless in our non-Vandy losses. I’m not sure what you do, but I’m loading my hottest hands at the top of the lineup for now. Then hope to start locking them in as the season progresses. Porter has produced the most, but he’s not exactly lighting it on fire.
  10. People are dumbasses. Replays and commercials are why games run long to the detriment of fans. Excessive incompletions is more a detriment than stoppages are first downs. And halftimes. It’s an ass kicking to see the dude stand on the field and his clock reads 3-4 minutes until play resumes. Go to commercial immediately on replay. Same on injury delays. And again if you watch at home, don’t be a dumbass. Record it. Start watching it late. Fast forward thru shit. Boom you’re done in 3 hours if that’s your objective. And if you watch football all day, there’s no problem.
  11. Probably ok to let him sit a game this weekend. Maybe he can relax. Get somebody else some reps. It’s a long season.
  12. So why was he still getting target after target? Might could possibly explain why there was no diving attempts at certain balls.
  13. I’m not talking about tonight specifically. This game was more important than last weekend or this upcoming weekend in certain respects. At the same time, a chance to win this one is probably not worth putting yourself at risk of losing two over the weekend. Whatever that looks like. Against Corpus, we used 4 bullpen guys. All primary guys after we were up 10-1 after 5. But, yes, pitching depth in college is limited. That’s why preservation for end of year is important. But no I do not think having all your bullpen guys pitching in 50% of games is normal. Our starters will likely start going deeper as the season progresses. We also have 1 or 2 more capable bullpen arms than last year.
  14. Who knows how this team will turn out. They’ve played 8 games and been competitive in 7. Position players are playing in situations they haven’t previously. Campbell has never been a full time starter. When is the last time ODowd got consistent playing time? Dalys at a new position. Freshmen at the corners. In baseball, 8 games isn’t shit. At every level, there are teams every year that start slow and finish strong. We were dominant to start last year then had a pitiful CWS showing. For this team, I’d prefer a slower start and stronger finish. As to the pitching, Pierce needs to try more guys. He needs to learn how to steal innings better. Stuart has pitched in 5 of 8 games. Same for the other bullpen guys. It’s either 5 appearances or 1. That’s too many particularly this early in the season. When your starters aren’t going deep into the game, you need to strategically fill innings. This also ties into him not defining roles very well. In a 12-2 win versus Corpus, we ran out guys that have pitched in 4/5 games already. Baseball requires patience. This team will need to exhibit that.
  15. Powell. First two seasons. 22 ABs. 7 hits, 3 doubles, 2 HRs. So he got 8 ABs the next season. He’s about to have a career high in ABs. He had a big RBI off the bench in the series clincher versus USF in 2021. I don’t know if he can hit long-term, but he showed enough early here to warrant more chances.
  16. Yeah, I saw reference to that but not sure of the truth of it either. He’s a significant weapon. Much will be forgiven if he has a great season. This season Sark still called his number. Ewers still threw his way. We forced it to him too often. He’s open a ton though so it’s understandable to a point. Worthy being a 1st rounder could be huge for the program. The Oline may be the unsung hero of next years pass game. It should help Ewers patience and comfort in the pocket, which should improve our timing.
  17. Like Daly? Antico at this level? You know Anticout.
  18. Y’all are a volatile but spirited bunch. Probably woulda benched Antico a couple of years ago. Woulda run EK off the last two years.
  19. Perhaps but 10% is too high no matter how willing one is to block. Pure speculation but I’d guess Worthy has a pretty outstanding year.
  20. Heard on NFL network that Zay Flowers had a pretty high drop rate. Per PFF, he and Worthy are reasonably similar. Over the past two seasons, Flowers drop rate is higher with 2022 being about the same. Looks like catch% is about the same in 2022. Flowers a bit better at contested catches over the two year period.
  21. He’s not fast. Got thrown out trying to steal 2nd. Must be slow.
  22. What took GP so long this past season to tighten up the pass D in the middle of field? This was a big of a problem in 2021 too.
  23. Hookers average depth of target was 11.7 yards with an average time to throw of 2.60 seconds. Still a lot of variables, but that’s not taking much time to throw and getting it down the field. Stroud is 10.7 and 2.92. He’s a bigger risk taker than Hooker. Young is 10.0 and 3.02.
  24. Once in a lifetime opportunities don’t come often. You shouldn’t pass those up.
