Yeah, yesterday was his first day of school. He looked so grown up in his uniform. And getting words right just fucking kills you. For a year “ok” was “o-tay.” So wife and I would say Otay as well. Then about 4 or 5 months ago he just flat out corrected us “no, it’s OK.” Felt like the villain in Temple of Doom just ripped out my heart. Wizzors became scissors. Fuck.

I think we are about a week or two from "O-tay" going away with our daughter, and it's going to fucking wreck me.

Boy...you can sure tell the difference in that Texas education by looking at the posts...NOT...

Funny how you jackasses criticize our posts when yours are just as bad, or worse.  Typical Austin arrogance.

    Ha! Got 'em!

  3. I’m considering getting another dog eventually.  I’m really interested in a black mouthed cur or possibly a blue lacy.   Those dogs can and will do anything.  Very trainable, fearless, loyal and healthy.

A blue lacy is my dream. You better be ready to work that thing daily. I want to train one to double as a blood trailer and an occasional dove grabber.

  4. What's the best butcher in Houston for steaks? First person to say B&B gets punched.

I don't think Pete's prices their beef very well. Cool place to go buy some exotic game though.

I've never bought a bad steak from Whole Foods. Their dry aged stuff is pretty good, and priced well. Especially compared to B&B.

Regarding sides, I'll nod my cap to au gratin potatoes at Vic & Anthony's. You'd need a restaurant grade broiler to possibly make them that good at home. We'll probably make a to go run on the next steak night.

The brussels sprouts at Del Frisco are also outstanding.

Fuck Pete’s. I will never recommend them. Shit quality and shit people. HEB has far better meat than those cunts.

Maybe this is the right place to ask....maybe this will get lost.

About 10-12 years ago, we went with some friends to eat at a restaurant "somewhere inside the loop". Beats the hell out of me where because I wasn't driving and there was drinking going on that night.  The restaurant looked like a house but it was a very good meal.  I can't for the life of me remember what it was called to see if it's still open.  Best guess would be Heights/Washington area.  Anyone have any ideas?

    I'll hang up and listen.

Gallant Knight was a house on Holcombe for years. Moved to where Timberwolf was on Bissonnet & Kirby (both places were great and safe).  My older brother was in town for the first time in a while and I took him to Timberwolf (he’d never been).  We walked in and the dwarf came out of the bathroom on rollerblades and skated to the bar.  My brother looked at me and said “well, it can only go downhill from here.”

Someone mentioned Vintage (on Kipling), that place was a shithole.  Ask Huge.

Better question is who remembers Birraporetti’s on West Gray?

Hops House on Hwy 6 used to be amazing, as was Big John’s Icehouse (at least in high school).  I was served the last Lone Star at Kay’s (/csb).  And TK Bitterman’s will always have a place in my heart.

    Big Band Fridays.  I remember.

What does the bullseye emoji mean typically, for those of us who have never done Twitter. Is that guy being sarcastic or actually giving props.

    Sarcastic. At least I hope.

I don’t care enough to go back and search but i know most of y’all were siding with Taubman in that whole situation, and joining the Astros in attacking apstein’s character. I will say the Osuna thing was more of a split.

    This is made up.
